    ...Today

The most important thing I have learned about the lapband is to stay positive. Not everyday is sunshine, and happiness, in fact to be honest a lot of days just suck. However I love my band, I love what it has given me , I love feeling better physically, emotionally, everything. So my word of advice is don't sweat it , its a work in progress. Take it day by day, hour by hour if you have to, and enjoy the start of a happier and healthier you! I hope you get your date soon, and succeed in all your goals. Good luck!

    Time Frame...?

I think it really depends. My surgeons time line was about 3-9 months depending on how fast I did all my requirements. I had to attend 2 support meetings, to psych evals, 2 nutritionists, get some blood work done, take and online test. etc. Then you have insurance approval times, which vary. My process was from June-November, so 5 months. I think it really just depends. I hope your process speeds by though. Good luck.

    Catheter anyone?

for some reason I was really nervous about the prospect of having to get one, but I never gotone during the surgery. I did have trouble urinating after surgery though. I think it was because it hurt my stomach so bad. I asked later and the doc said he doesnt feel the need to use them.

    death?

I have never seen anyone who has died from lap band, bypass yes, but lapband , no. Don't worry though, you will scare yourself off that way. There are far more complications for staying overweight then there is for being banded. Good luck.

    Hi Everyone!

    Thanks Lauren!
  10. Mingle around the room, walk around and talk to different people, that way no one even notices what your doing. When it is time to eat excuse yourself and go to the bar for some water or something, I doubt anyone will notice.

    Help please!

Are you eating smaller portions, eating the right things. Are you making sure you get your protein, as that helps with the hunger. Have you seen your doc, or a dietician? If you are doing everything right then you should contact your doc again and get in to see him. Sending you postive vibes!

    Having a BAD day

Use your frustration and focus on your upcomiong appts. No one is worth making you feel shitty, and self destructive (binge eating) . Even though it is unfortunate what happened, he obviously was not worth it. Find someone who will respect you and not play games on you. You DESERVE better, and once you realize that, which I think you have already done, you will move on. Until then focus your attention on something other then food, you do not wasnt hime to succeed in messing up you getting your surgery. Good luck and keep your head up!
  16. Hi Elle, Welcome to LBT. As you have read on here there are many ups and downs with being banded. With that said , this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. It has given me my life back. I experienced a lot of pain after surgery but it was 100% worth it. I have had no complications, a few plateus here and there, nothing a good fill wont fix. would I recommend it, you bet. As far as pregnancy with the band , it actually aids in getting pregnant. When you are losing weight you up the chances of becoming pregnant, although you should wait at least a year before trying to concieve. You asked about reversal, I have not had anything like that done, and as you can tell I still have a significant journey ahead of me. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me. Hope I can help. Good luck!

i got my lapband done 3 days ago

Congrats on being banded!!! I was in the same boat as you, not expecting a lot of pain and then realizing how PAINFUL it is. I couldnt do anything myself for a week. But at the end of the day it is 100% worth it. Good luck to you!

    Day 2 of being banded

"I was totally surprised that I had no incision pain (I have five bandages on my stomach) but I did have that awful gas pains in my shoulders and chest. Even in recovery room I had a hard time breathing. They explain it is the gas and it takes a couple days for it to get out of your system through your skin. It is really intense pain and the pain relievers do not touch that pain." Try gas-x strips, they will be your best friend.lol

    Hi Everyone!

Congrats on the start of a happier and healthier you. Don't worry the liquid diet will speed right past. Use that time to focus on something else like picking out a new wardrobe for when you reach goal, or making sure you have all the things you need post op. Relax and enjoy this time, its the start of the rest of your life!
  22. I agree calling the doc is the most important. You do not want to have any other issues, and be able to focus primarily on your band and asjusting to that lifestyle. This is a bump in the roadbut dont give up. Sending you positive vibes!

    Hair Loss

Make sure you are getting in lots of protein. Hair loss is definitely a sign of a lack of protein. Make sure you are taking your vitamins as well. I hope your hair loss stops. Good luck to you!
  24. Congrats on getting a date! The most important thing to do is Relax. Get your things in order, one quick trip to the grocery store will help that. Only bring the essentials, make sure you have a pillow to have for he car ride home. Also make sure your dress comfy , you wont want anything to bother your incisions! Good luck to you!
