    Newbie banded 4/4/09

my surgeon said walking would not hurt right after surgery but any heavy lifting would have to wait until 6 weeks after surgery. I would say as long as it's low impact and not weights , whenever you are feeling better would probably be fine.

What if I don't lose weight?

I felt exactly the same way and here I am 60 pounds down. I won't lie to you it is hard, very hard. Every day is a struggle to make the right decisions , and to stay focused but it works. It's a tool , a tool that you must work with as well. Good luck to you , it will all work out.

my surgeon does a similar thing as well. My port is also located about 2 inches down from my largest incision. I can definitely feel it when I lay down, doesnt really bother me.

    No beer or soda?

I have read on here that people still drink carbonated beverages but they wait till they are flat. I have not tried soda or beer, and to be honest I don't miss them either. Soda was my vice before this surgery. diet coke, diet coke, diet coke. I gave it up about two months before my surgery and it helped that did it before hand , one less thing to worry about.
  15. I have always had a big belly, legs, butt, the whole nine yards. As I lose weight it seems as if my weight is moving down my body. My shoulders, neck, face, have all slimmed down, but it seems like my belly is still there. I really don't see the weight loss on myself, but everyone around me tells me how different I look already. Hopefully I will be able to see it soon.

    Sleepin in a chair

I don't know if I was just being a baby or what but I was banded on 11/14/08 and I slept in a chair until probably the 1st or second week of December. I felt such a pulling sensation in my stomach that I could NOT bare the pain of sleeping in a bed. It does get better, I promise.

    frustrated, any helping words?

I think a lot of people on here are going to tell you the same thing, 500 calories a day is NOT enough. Are you exercising? Snacking to much? Eating small portions? If you are doing everything right see a nutritionist, maybe they can help you. If you go down all these avenues and are still having trouble then you need to see you surgeon and perhaps you primary care doctor to see what the problem is. Good luck to you and I hope things get better for you.

Jane you must be so excited!! You look great in your pic ! Keep up the good work.
  21. I feel the same way about eating in public. I know people who have this who are not embarrased about heading right to the bathroom and being sick, I on the other hand am mortified when this occurs. I would rather go to the back of the parking lot where there is no one. Sometimes we have no choice though, I get that. Eating is such a chore , but hey what isn't.lol
  22. It seems like it is those days too where you are so frustrated and you don't wanna know your weight let alone have someone else want to know. lol I also love the question how much do you want to lose, I always feel like why don't you just come out and ask me how much I weigh. In my mind that is pretty much what you are trying to figure out.lol
  23. Something just doesn't sound right. You need to tell your doc that he needs to do something about this, this is your health , you cannot just sit and wait for this to get better. If your surgeon continues to sit and act as if this is nothing then perhaps you should look elsewhere and find a surgeon who is willing to help you. I hope things get better for you, keep us posted, and keep your head up.

    Tomorrow is the day!!

Good luck! The only advice I have is bring a pillow for the rive home, if you go over a bump you will have that to surround your stomach. Other then that get a good night's sleep and relax. Congrats on the start to a new and healthier you.
  25. I'm so happy to read that so many people are doing great. I struggle a lot these days. Some days I can eat something and the next time I eat it I am sorry. I wish there was some consistency. lol.... Keep up the good work everyone.
