Surgery Monday, hubby just left for Iraq....
Brockbabe82 replied to PUDGY's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so sorry you have so much going on. Don't be stressed about your surgery though, you will be fine. Just think of this you are giving your husband something surprising to come home to. Keep thinking of his reaction when he sees you dropping tons of weight. Don't emotional eat this weekend, it won't do anything good for you, it's like a bottomless pit , never ending, I have been there before to. Just keep busy, do things with your daughter, prepare for recovery, and think positive thoughts. Good luck. -
Good luck to you! My prayers are with you on this journey. Congrats on the start of a happier and healthier you.

Sorry guys-- question about menstration and lap band
Brockbabe82 replied to Carriedaway78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my period during my surgery and it was not bad. The doc said it would be fine, and there were no complications, nerve racking though.lol -
I think everyone at one time or another has had a weight loss plateau. When this occurs you need to make sure you are making the best decisions, food wise. Exercise is key, following all the rules of post op, and making sure you are getting a good amount of protein in. Following the rules is key, if this does not help then seeing your surgeon and nutritionist is key.

TXMom, I am sorry things are so stressful in your life right now. You and DH need to sit down and you need to tell him that if your supporting his move, then he needs to support your journey with the lap band. You need encouragement, and time to get yourself healthy, if that means he has to pack, or take your daughters to their hair appointments, while you plan out some meals or take a walk, then that is what he will have to do. Support should go both ways and obviously the stress of having to do everything is not helping you. You need to delegate and remember without your health you will not be able to be there for them so, you do you. Take time for yourself and let your family help pick up the pieces. Good luck.

In serious pain
Brockbabe82 replied to Alwaysinpain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember you are your body's advocate, you tell him that you are in pain, and something is not right. Go to your pcp and see what he suggests, maybe it isn't band related , but there is a chance that it is so you fight to get the proper tests done, to make sure you are okay. Good luck hun, we are here for you. -
Is it the band or a bug?
Brockbabe82 replied to Maranda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
probably gas like it was said before. But if you continue to experience this call the doc and get seen just in case. Good luck. -
In serious pain
Brockbabe82 replied to Alwaysinpain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alwaysinpain, Call your surgeon, and call them now. Whatever this is it does not sound good, and you should be looked at just in case. I hope you get some answers. Good luck to you. -
Jen, I am glad you have some answers now and not in pain. THis situation sucks but I hope you are using this as a motivator. Things will get better just stay optimistic. Good luck to you, and keep us updated.

Are you exercising? Are you eating small meals frequently? Are you eating protein first, then other things? These are questions you should ask first. If you are doing all the right things then you should meet with your surgeon and talk to him or get another fill. If that doesn't work perhaps meeting with a nutritionist will help. I know plateaus are terrible, but keep you head up and think optimistically. Good luck and let me know how your doing.

Waiting for surgery to be scheduled
Brockbabe82 replied to carlagovier's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and congrats on preparing for a lap band. Why so worried the closer it gets? The way I looked at is was ; yes there are complications but there are also many dangerous complications for staying overweight. Think optimistically, there is only a very small chance for complications. Enjoy this right now, this is the start of a happier and healthier life. Good luck. -
Have made the decision but am nervous, scared [insert emotion here]
Brockbabe82 replied to Jane_S's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome to LBT. I will be honest and say that having the lapband is not only the hardest thing I have ever done but it is the best thing I ever done. I am so happy with this surgery although ever day is not great, I am happier and healthier then I have been in a while. I hope everything goes successful for you. Good luck. -
First off congrats on being banded I hope everything goes well for you. I know you are wondering abour complications and time off work, but before anyone answers you need to know that each and every person is different. I have read about people who go back to work the next day, where as I did not go back to work for 2 weeks. It all depends. I was in extreme pain but I have physical job so I could not do it. I had only expected to be out for 6 days but , I absolutely could not go back that early. As far as fills go I have had 3 fills since my surgery, the first in jan, the second in feb, and the third in march, about every 6 weeks. right now I am good where I am as far as a fill but will probably be going to get one sometime in may. I hope I helped a bit, and congrats.

Anyone else's arms & legs itching like crazy?
Brockbabe82 replied to lingling's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After my surgery I was unbelievably itchy for a week. I felt like I could rip the skin right off my arms and legs. My mom was wonderful and would get a nice cold and wet face cloth and rub it on the spots that were itching terribly. I definitely think it was related to the pain medications. Hope you all feel better soon. -
Welcome and congrats on the start of a happier and heathier you.

I'll be praying for you that you get your appt this week. I hope that I see you at the May meeting. If you can think of any other questions don't hesitate. I will help you in any way I can. take care.

Day Two Post Op - Help?
Brockbabe82 replied to phlphan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like it was said before you should definitely call the doctor. Maybe it is just your body responding to what you just went through. I know after my surgery I was freezing all the time, I sat there with like 4 fleece blankets on at all times. I hope you get some answers.
