    Cramps when eating

It happens to me. No matter how small the sip is, I get a crampy feeling in the middle of my chest.

    Feeing Rough and Sleeve Blush

That’s so good to hear. I’m also a bit shaky, weak, and feel kind of dizzy/tired. I will call my surgeon tomorrow to make sure what I’m feeling is normal but I’m okay walking. I think having anxiety and wondering if I’m okay doesn’t help. My temp is normal, I haven’t vomited, etc. thanks to everyone who hasput up with my questions on here.

    Feeing Rough and Sleeve Blush

Thank you all. I’m feeling better today. I’m trying to get my proteins in and my liquids but it’s a bit hard. I was able to take a shower today and drink half a premier protein drink. I’m able to walk and my incisions are looking good. I guess I just get anxiety. Sometimes I get hiccups which make me nervous but I am hoping a couple more days and I will feel more normal.

    Feeing Rough and Sleeve Blush

I called. Unfortunately, my surgeon isn’t on call so I went ahead and took a tablet of Tylenol as the nurse said to do. I put a heating pad on. That seems to help. I am still feeling a bit groggy from the Anesthesia which I heard lasts the first 48 hours. At least that is what the nurse told me. And yes, I told them about the redness but they said it was more than likely a reaction from the anesthesia and to contact my doctor on Monday. I could go to the ER but with covid being so bad, I’m too scared. Right now I feel okay. Just groggy. I am hoping to not feel so rough tomorrow. It just seems like everything was closed for the holidays as I had mine on Christmas Eve. I’m still using the bathroom, trying to get all my liquids in, and had my first bm. I am walking. Hoping to be all clear tomorrow.

    December 2020

I actually got the soft gel gas x. They sent me home with NO pain meds. I am getting them tomorrow. I also have what they call the sleeve blush. I dunno if anyone else has this but it’s caused my chest to go red and face a bit. I am super pale but this scared me. I called the nurse and she said it was probably a reaction to anesthesia. I’ve done water, Gatorade zero popsicles, and I may try warm tomorrow morning. I am up walking. I wish I had a little bit of pain meds so I can fall back asleep. These 48 hours have been rough. I expected it but still rather rough.

Has anyone tried any liquid gas relief for infants? Thinking about getting some as the gas is worse today. I get up and walk but it doesn’t help with the pulgas tumbling in my stomach.

    First Day after VSG

So, when I started this journey, I knew I may have GERD because I had it mildly before. Now it has seemingly come Back. I asked the nurses about this and they said it was normal the first couple of days out. It still makes me nervous. Also I am coughing occasionally with phlegm. My throat is somewhat scratchy due to the tube. Had anyone else had either of these two? Thanks!

    First Day after VSG

I get to take omperazole tomorrow. Tonight I can’t. Good to know about the phlegm. I got scared because that first night, I didn’t have my mask on because I was so doped up.

RTL, that’s great! I’m doing okay with the sipping water. I even took sips of a protein shake. There are two things I’m worried about. I had mild gerd and knew that VSG could make it worse. It seems like I’m getting gerd today which scares me. I asked the doctor and nurse and they said this is normal the first few days. Also, I keep coughing up phlegm. Which is kind of scary as I was out for along time without my mask on. Sigh.

    December 2020

Womderlyn, we are surgery day buddies. Mine was the 24th and no one was in there. The only thing I’m having now is I’m coughing up phlegm weirdly, and I have GERD sometimes. Which I hope isn’t indicative of the VSG making that worse. Otherwise, I’m up walking and able to drink liquids. Hoping to do the 64 oz tonight. Anyone else have gerd right after or coughing?

    Any December surgery

I just had mine. This was a legitimate concern of mine too so I talked to my surgeon and he said the exact same thing that the other two ladies are saying. That the hospital is completely clear of Covid patients and then if you’re waiting you could be waiting a long time because this disease isn’t going anywhere and you still have to get a vaccine and it has to be at 90% herd immunity. So you might be waiting a long time and also they take every precaution so I decided to do it now because he was right. It’s better to catch it at a smaller weight then right now where it’s been shown obesity gives way to more severe symptoms of Covid. Also they’re supposed to be a gigantic spike in January even more so than right now due to Christmas.

    Any December surgery

Hello! I am awake enough in the hospital now to talk. Yesterday was quite miserable as the gas kept hitting my new stomach and I was super nauseous. I slept through the night. I’m still woozy and bit sleepy but much better from yesterday. I’m walking and the incisions don’t feel too bad now that they gas has subsided (except in my right shoulder). Overall the doctor said it went great. I’m now able drink 4 small cups of water—from the little cups they give to you. The only other thing is it feels like I may have heartburn.

In the preop waiting room. Getting super super nervous.
  17. So, I have basically been quarantined d since March. I have been fortunate and worked from home the entire time. I think what I am Most nervous about is catching covid when in the hospital, as I will be in there a day. Also, I won’t have a mask on during surgery. I have to take a test soon for covid and am hoping my doctor will too. Does anyone else have the same concerns? What did you do to calm yourself?

    Anxious about Covid

Thank you all. I almost started crying about it today in my preop but my surgeon helped by talking to me. Just one night hopefully.

Yes, this covid test did tickle my brain. It was awful. Got the results back the next day. Negative. I cannot believe it’s 4 days away. It’s insane!

Karmen, looks like we will be close together. I’m the 24th! I just had my covid test today. Man that was not fun. I have a deviated septum which made the left side (small side) burn. I wish you all the luck!

I feel like that will be on the 23rd. I go from being super excited to being super anxious. I’m so committed and want this but just scared a bit about the pain after. Congratulations though! I’m glad it’s not been that bad.

Sam, I have gotten dizziness and I’m really tired all the time. How are you feeling Lauren? Sometimes I’m so excited and sometimes I get anxious. Ha ha.

    Any December surgery

I am going to have the VGS on the 24th. I was approved last week. I began in June. Merry Christmas to me? Ha, ha. I am on the liquid diet. I feel okay now but the first two days were hard. I am not losing like I had hope though. Even as I am walking and being super strict, I've lost around 3-5lbs (as every day it tells me something different). Was really hoping to lose 10+. So annoyed. Also, I am getting a bit anxious now with all of covid and whatnot. Any other Christmas surgeries?
