1 year anniversary since surgery! I’ve had a few bumps in the road and am actually in the process of trying to gain a little weight (under my surgeons supervision of course) but I am still happy with my decision to have WLS and have no regrets! ❤️

I think you need to reset your expectations. You've done MUCH better than most of us. It sounds like you're very successful!

stalls are a common "feature" of weight loss. When you hit one, just stay the course and stay off the scale for a few days. As long as you're following your program, they'll eventually break and you'll be on your way again. We've all been there....

Thank you I definitely need to stay off the scale for a few days!

My husband refuses to drop me off or pick me up from the hospital. He disagrees with my decision to have surgery. I expected this but now need a plan. For those who have a spouse like mine or kept your surgery a secret, how did you arrange for hospital pick-up/ drop-off? Uber? Swear a friend to secrecy?

Try care.com. I hired a lady on there to bring and pick me up I just told her the situation because my husband now(boyfriend at the time) was over the road. Greatly, for me he ended up letting his job know he had to leave so he brought me instead.

You've lost almost 100 lbs. in 6 months, and if your profile is correct, 13 lbs. from your goal of 160 lbs. By the six month mark, the average lost 30 to 40% excess weight... I would be ecstatic. Stalls are frustrating but looking at the whole picture, I would say you're doing better than the average.

That was my pre surgery goal, but my new goal is 145. Thank you for your encouragement.

When I STARTED the process for WLS I was 389 pounds (in 2019). My highest recorded weight ever was 392 pounds (in 2017). My weight on the day of surgery was 321 pounds. At 6 months post-op I was 237 pounds. I reached my goal weight at 18 months 1 day post op and I'm down an extra two pounds passed that so far. I started having stalls 3 months post op and have had them every single month since. I'm currently in one right now, as a matter of fact lol (17 day stall so far).

Thank you so much! The stalls really had me discouraged. Congratulations on your achievements!

You've lost 95 pounds in six months and you think that's slow? How much were you expecting to lose by now? I'm not trying to be snotty; I'm seriously asking why you're devastated rather than thrilled.

I wanted to hit my second target weight. I’ll be thrilled when I’m no longer overweight. I hit so many stalls. I definitely didn’t think I would be 145 in 6 months, but I would’ve hoped I would be 170. I know it’s just 3 pounds, but it’s like my body is holding on to these three pounds for dear life!

  7. Hey guys I had surgery March 3rd 2021. I am literally 2 days shy of 6 months and I am livid. I eat healthy, drink Water all day, exercise everyday one hour and I didn’t hit my second weight loss goal and I doubt I will by my 6 month mark. I am 5’4 my pre surgery weight was 268 and I’m now 173. My overall goal is 145. I have hit several stalls month 4 and 5 not sure why. What are your stats and have you hit any stalls? When did your weightloss slow down what did you do to get the pounds back to dropping. My dr is happy with my weightloss but I am devastated by the slow process.

Sorry to hear, Meow2. My A1c was getting progressively higher post RNY also, my high number went around 5.6. Perplexed, as the only sugars in my diet at that point were from fruit. Nurse practitioner cited the watermelon I was juicing was very high in sugar, and on a lower fat, lower calorie, lower food volume intake would really spike my blood sugar. It was like putting pure sugar in my veins with little to offset or balance it.

To test it, she had me quit watermelon and sure enough, next blood work was impressively better. Though not fun, you might try only having fruit or sugar items AFTER, and along with, a Protein intake. It has worked for me and better than where this was heading. Good luck!💗

My A1C without insulin was 13 with insulin it was 5.4. Now I’m maintaining a 5

Yes, it's very common. There's a lot of swelling and inflammation in there right after surgery. It's basically a full-time job to get enough Water one sip at a time, to stay hydrated. The good news is, the swelling will go down and the pain will lessen and then fade away. I know it hurts, but keep taking tiny sips. Dehydration is the last thing you need right now. Hang in there, it gets better!

Very true, due to swelling I couldn’t drink until week 8. I was admitted to the hospital for a week and given a pic-line. It was painful, but I think my biggest problem was the thrash throwing off my taste. After week 8 I was able to drink Water but not artificial sweeteners. After week 16 I was able to tolerate artificial sweeteners.

Has anyone else belly got really swollen, as in flabby swollen? I’m 6 days post-op, it’s not painful, it’s just FLABBY! It’s NOT MY belly, I am concerned something may be wrong, any insight, expirience would help

Yes, I had RNY and my belly got really swollen after especially after I had something with artificial sweeteners. They ran all the test CT scan nothing came up. I’m just really sensitive and had to wait for the swelling to go down and the sutures to heal. July 3rd I make 4 months out. Feeling fine now. It improved for me week 8.

I haven’t had this issue but when I was first on soft foods post VSG I was told to cook chicken in the instapot to make it super moist and it worked for me. It’s so tender you can shred it with two forks. Also, someone on here said chicken thigh is easier tolorated by some post WLS because there is more fat so it’s more tender. Hope this helps.

Yes! I love chicken i smoother(beef broth) bake( beef broth) and crockpot it(beef broth) so tender.

So, I had my fill on August 13, 2 cc's. I had to cancel today's appointment for a fill because I've had trouble with food getting stuck, and with vomiting. The culprit? chicken. Can you believe it?! I chew and chew and chew, and this is after cutting it pretty small! I had stip steak last night with no trouble at all. But, tried to eat chicken again today...and just started feeling crappy. Has anyone else had trouble with, of all things, chicken? This kind of sucks. I can't afford other meats.< /p>

Chicken was all I could tolerate at first but I make my chicken extra moist and falling off the bone tender. I only eat drumsticks because that’s all I’ve ever eaten from a chicken.
