  1. Hi.

I'm almost 1 month out of my surgery now.

Don't get enough time for regular exercise like due to children and then this winter weather.

I have a vibration plate at home. Have been using it before my surgery and gotnpositove results out of it.

My question is if it is safe using it 4 weeks afterbtge surgery?

Has anyone else had any experience?

Thanks in advance for your replies

  2. Water bottles help me. I count the number I need for the day and out them on them on the counter. Then in the lunch box. I notice I can drink tea without sugar so use a bottle for a tea bag. Like the other person said those big cups fill them up. Put a water app or timer on your phone. I have to eat less to drink but you need the water.
Does your doctor have a dieticians? If not see one.
I added what the dietician gave me this week. Hope it helps. Hang in there

    Thank you.
I will fill up bottles too
And have a look on the dietician's plans.
    Hope it works for me.

  3. I am also about 3 weeks post surgery and I obsessed in the beginning about ounces in and ounces out and I have found that if I keep busy during the day I don’t even think about it.
I fill up my Water bottle and dig into projects and have a reminder set on my phone so I do not forget to eat.
I would suggest to find something to keep your body busy because if your body is busy your mind is busy you will find food far from your thoughts.
My husband has just started his two week pre op diet and I actually have found I do better when I am by myself in the middle of some big cleaning or organizing project so I don’t fret about him or worry about what I am going to eat!!

    Hope it works !

    Happy holidays!!
I agree. Whenever I'm busy with chores or outside I'm absolutely fine and can keep going on. But as soon as I'm free all I can do is think about food.
I think its more the head than the body.
How much have you lost in three weeks?
I'm on the famous 3 weeks stall right now.. can't see anything going down on the scale.< br>Hope it gets over soon though.

  4. I feel the same way, I’m on my pre-op diet. I feel like I’ve become obsessed with the scale and food, in an unhealthy way. Like every time I pee... ope, I better go check my weight. It’s driving me crazy. I think after surgery I am going to put my scale away and only bring it out to check my weight on the “milestone” dates. I feel guilty about food too. My liquid diet allows for one lean cuisine a day and it’s like my whole day is planned around when I can eat that. I’m losing weight but I feel less healthy mentally.

I know.. its crazy. I'm trying not to weigh myself everyday now.
And after this 3 weeks stall, I have set my mind that I'm not gonna see any difference until its over.
So no more weighing till next 2 weeks or so.
Weighing everyday in hope of seeing less is driving me crazy.
Just trying to keep up with the Water intake, food and being more active.
Wish you all the best for your surgery.

  5. Water intake can come from a lot of different areas;
    1. water
    2. broth
    3. sugar free Jello
    4. tea
you can get kind of creative with jello- when you first mix it up and its dissolved in the hot Water you can add the cold water and put a little in a cup and sip on the warm Jello like a sweet tea treat. It is actually pretty soothing to the system
there are all kinds of caffeine free teas hot and cold, I personally found the first week or so after surgery that warm drinks were calming when ever I was gassy or had an upset system. It is also helpful with constipation to drink a warm drink to help get the bowels rolling.
I got the Cirkul water bottle with a bunch of different flavors and find myself having to cut myself off from drinking water in the evening or else I am up all night using the biffy!!!

I highly recommend looking into the Cirkul water bottle. They have a promotional deal going where you can get the set up for $5
    https://drinkcirkul.com/pages/trial
At first I thought it was super expensive until I started to figure out what I used to spend on soda and now what I was spending on different drops and teas and other things. It really isn't bad priced when you really look at it and the actual product is AMAZING!!!

    Thank you so much.
I will try out different things.

  6. Give yourself some credit and pat yourself on the back for making the decision to get healthier.
I think that it would be good to give your self grace. Be kind. Your body is not just going through a shock it's an entire way of life that you are changing. So make an effort to stay positive and optimism is key. food intake should follow the dieticians recommended foods.
You will loose weight. And to keep it off follow the plan like your life depends on it.
Hang in there. And perhaps Journal your feelings and track your food.
    All the best,

    Thank you for your motivations.
I will try to stay positive and keep focused.
My doc did not give me any particular plan.
So don't really know what to eat.
Maybe you people can share uour programs so I can get some ideas.
I think my main problem us the Water intake.
I'm supposed to have 1.5 liters a day and it just isn't working out for me due to the small sips.
    I can't manage it.
Before surgery o drank almost 3 liters a day.
I'm trying to make a routine.
    Let's see how it works.

  7. Your surgeon should be able to tell you how aggressive your exercises can be. I just had my two week post op and during my lap Sleeve surgery he fixed a hernia and removed a few polyps I had but he still gave me the go ahead to get on the treadmill as much as I want as long as its just a brisk walk. No weight lifting or actual running yet but walking a couple times a day for a couple miles really feels good. Your surgeon should tell you exactly how much for your specific situation you can handle.
I am an old nurse and can tell you that our bodies are much tougher than we give them credit for. When we feel things tug and pull when we stretch our arms and such it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Those muscles we are guarding need to be used or else we can actually do more harm than good. I nice steady stretch that is slow with deep breathing is a super good way to get blood flow to entire body.

He recommended 30 mins walk 3x a week maximum.
With kids at home and this weather its difficult for me to go out for a walk.
I will ask him again what type of exercises I can do at home.
I agree we are much tougher than we think.
I will start with stretching and maybe walk on the spit for few minutes.

  8. I'd respectfully disagree with Grady here. Advice varies in the medical world & each body/stomach is unique. You may require the odd nutritious snack, especially if its high Protein. I'm exercising at a level that requires more protein than many at my stage (I'm pretty new to this too!) My nutritionist wants me to have protein yogurts or bars post work out to prevent muscle loss.
I know someone who has a long thin stomach & can't fit enough in at normal meal times so must supplement by snacking.
    Thank you.
I agree. Maybe I just need to give it more time.
What type of exercises can I don at this stage?
    I'm almost 3 weeks now.
Incisions have almost healed but was reading that the staple line needs 6-8 weeks to complete healing.
I'm scared to do something wrong in order to overdo something.
I feel stretching feeling of the pouch and pain whenever I stretch my arms or stay in a position for long time. Like sleeping on one side with arms .

  9. 700-900 kcal a day does not seem excessive given your current weight. You're only 19 days post-op. Focus on sticking with the eating plan you were given and hitting both Protein and Water goals. Give your new tummy and your prescribed eating plan a chance to work. I was also fearful that surgery would not yield successful results for me but it turned out that what has worked for so many others, worked for me too! Give it a chance. [emoji4]
    Thank you.
You are right. I need to give it more time.
But as I said Its my fear and I feel guilty after eating.
Will definitely observe and adapt changes if needed, like exercise and more water.

  10. Hi.

I'm 19 days post WLS today and on my pureed diet period.

I feel hungry and eat 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks a day, in small portions of course.

Count the calories of every meal and snack.< /p>

    Between 700-900 kcal a day.

I feel guilty after eating. Think I must starve to loose more weight. Have constant feeling that I'm not going to loose anymore weight. Putting on instead.

I'm 176cm tall and current weight is 280lbs.

Anyone else going through same situation and how do you deal with it?

  11. On the mobile app, you can update your stats by clicking “Profile” on the bottom right and then selecting “Patient Information.”
On the web site, click on your username on the top right of the screen, then click “My Surgery” under settings. Then click “Progress” on the left sidebar.
    Hi.
I found "my surgery" on the web site but it doesn't allow me to edit.

  12. Hi there - also 14 days post op and I have only lost 5lbs. I am just trying to remain chill. I was on the pre-op diet for 3 weeks and then an additional 3 days of only liquid (I have a big liver that really needed to get out of the way!) and have been following instructions to a T. I am on pureed foods now and really looking forward to "soft" foods starting Friday. Am doing okay with the semi-solid foods but have to check in with every bite to make sure when I should stop. All in all doing well I think just the weight loss is frustrating but I am just keeping in mind that I signed up for a life long solution and I need to just trust the process. Appointment with my medical team tomorrow so I will also see what they say. Good luck!

How long have you been on the pureed food?
I'm starting my pureed food phase tomorrow for 2 weeks.
    Let's see how it goes.
I'm so fed up of this liquid diet honestly.
    Looking forward to pureed food.

  13. Don't have a lot of information about you, it would be helpful if you filled in your profile...hightest weight, surgery day weight, current weight, height...all this gives context to your post and helps us to tailor a response to you.
So if I understand correctly its been about four days since you have lost scale weight, but in the 10 days before that you've lost 13lb??? That's great and above average for the stage you are at.
There will be weight loss stalls along the way, one of the major ones is the three week stall (though for some this can happen before three weeks and for others well after).
Please take the time to fill in your details.
    Hi.

Where do I fill on the profile?
    I can't find it.
