    Hi Jennie!
please don’t worry about the amount of weight you lost. Just keep keeping on, you have lost a very normal amount of weight for your time out from surgery! So many things go into determining weightloss, including that everyone is different. I am 6 weeks out from surgery and I only lost 20 lbs. since my surgery date, 23 lbs. total. I had been averaging 4 lbs. a week, until last week, I only lost 1 pound!! This week, only 2 lbs.!! So I broke my streak! I was bummed out too. But look - WE ARE STILL ON THE LOSING SIDE!!!. Some weeks are going to be like that. Some weeks will be a stall! Just keep doing what your doing ! You’re doing awesome!!
  2. Thanks

I’ve hit the dreaded stall! 3.5 weeks out from surgery so it was kind of expected but still really annoying. I’d hoped to lose another 10 lbs by Christmas but I can’t see that happening now. Anyone else in the same boat?

No! You aren’t behind!! I’m about 4 weeks post-op and I’m handling walks only — you DEFINITELY aren’t behind! We all heal and move forward at our own pace! ☺️ I’m so sorry about the pain you’re experiencing. Hang in there! Can you maybe try an ice pack on the areas that hurt? I did that my first two nights at home, I was able to stop taking pain meds after I began using the ice pack, the numbness of the pain helped me finally get some rest. I found that the more I rested the more I was able to get up the next day and work thru the pain. 👍🏽 Hang in there!! It will get better!

Good morning! I'm so excited. I've lost way more than I ever thought I would lose. Did anyone else have fears that this wouldn't work? I really thought I was going to go through all of this for no reason and still be fat, and keep gaining weight. It's working! It's hard, but it's working!!

Sorry your pain is sticking around! Are you up and walking? My pain subsided somewhat the more I walked. So happy for you on the 32lbs!! That’s what matters! We just bought our first home in March 2020, literally a week before COVID hit. Good luck on saving! It’s a slow process but so worth it once you get the keys to your new home!! Sending you prayers and best wishes for recovery!!

Congrats on the loss! I do still have some pain, and it's kind of random. But if you think about it, our digestive systems had it's "crap" rocked lol and our abs are swiss cheese. So sometimes I forget I had surgery 2 weeks ago... and other times I'm like, oh, there it is. lol

Those are all great suggestions! I have had eggs and Beans but will try the others too. Yeah, purée was weird all around. I have my 2-week follow up with my doctor today. Let’s see how much I divulge! I have a feeling that they may give me a scolding for not sticking to the purée diet. 🙄

My feet look like normal again too! It is exciting isn’t it!! The Water has been hard for me too. I’ve tried timers and apps... if you find a trick, let me know!!

I’m the opposite of truenorth. The surgery pain for me was unbearable. I kept saying to my husband this was the biggest mistake of my life. I had to have help up, down, bathroom... it was truly awful. But about day 6 it changed and I’ve been on a steady happy upward since then! Today was my 2 week doctor post-op. It went great! Down 16lbs, and onto phase 3 diet!! My pain is under control and I am finally able to consistently walk at least 3k steps a day. Also, I can do squats! I haven’t done squats in years!!! I’m so excited everyone, it’s worth it, even if it feels like the biggest mistake at first! I left the hospital off all blood pressure meds. No longer close to being diabetic and I haven’t had to use my c-pap since week one post-op!
things I wish I had prepared better for - it will hurt bad! Just because not for everyone, if I had that in my mind, I would have handled it better. Practiced tiny sips of Water, I practiced slow food and small bites. The tiny, tiny sips of water have been hard for me.
how are all of you doing?

Just as I was getting my groove back, my oldest daughter (17) tested positive for COVID and is feeling crappy. No life threatening symptoms, just miserable with a cold. So now, we are all quarantined. I guess this is what I get for wishing for a day to just relax?! LOL
Side note, COVID-girl baked Cookies today- and I wasn't even tempted! I did find a new way to do the Protein Shake that was yummy, though admittedly probably not the best.... 1 Premier Protein shake cafe latte, 2 tablespoons PB2 chocolate, and a small squeeze of Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup. It tasted like a Peanut Butter cup! I'll definitely save it for a treat because after i looked at the macros I facepalmed!

Sorry friends have let you down. I’m thankful for my hubby, but I feel like my family has let me down too. I think maybe they figure you can’t eat regular food, so what should they do? If anything it can be a wake up call to all of us when we know someone is having a hard time physically or an operation, that maybe we can do for them what no one offered us. We know how it hurts, and how much it would be appreciated very much.
Hope you are doing better and stronger each day, Lanie. Sounds like you had a hard row to hoe, but I hope you feel stronger each day.

    Hello,
oh no lol I gave away all my boxes I purchased before surgery in preparation for after lol. I did get GENEPRO it just came in the mail yesterday yay! I threw a scoop in a lil Gatorade zero and I managed to get it down. I also managed to make some egg salad puréed with some chicken broth and it was so good I managed to get it down. It’s been so weird I can tolerate yogurt and sf pudding one day and the next I can’t touch it. It’s literally been a battle daily but I’m throwing powder in everything I can lol to get my Protein up. I can finally drink Water normally now except I can only drink alkaline water regularly purified water hurts. Anyways it’s nice to have people going through the same thing to talk to. Let me know if you try those shakes again.

Orbera is the gastric balloon. My husband is the only one that knows about my surgery so I'm here for advice and support as well. I'll definitely check in!

Aw, thank you. I live in southern missouri. I've driven so I could have gone and gotten it but needed pain meds yesterday, so I didn't take the risk.
Most of the people I told have had some variance of WLS, but I suspect that my friends and sis may be jealous, because they all struggle with weight, and in the past we've done crazy diets together.

I had the Orbera (didn't work for me), so I remember the days of nausea. I don't look forward to that. I knew this entire month would be tough, I just keep reminding myself it will end and "why" I'm doing it. Hang in there, this will pass soon!

The surgery/pain was a walk in the park! Way better than I ever anticipated!
The weight loss is slower than I thought it would be, but I am losing and happy!
It's the perfect time (during co-vid) to concentrate on me. Come April when the world starts looking better, so will we!!!
    How about everyone else?

Ditto! It’s been 9 days since surgery and today is finally the day I’ve promised myself I would do nothing and relax!!!!! I’ve been going non-stop since surgery. No judgement to you! We all have lives, they don’t stop just because we had surgery. But if you ever feel tired thru those days, I hope you’ll stop and rest or ensure you get a little more sleep that night. 👍🏽 If you’re able to move around, I say good! I kinda felt like it’s a good sign of recovery if you can move and be on the go. But... I’m guilty of not really slowing down, so take my words with a grain of salt. 😉

Hi Luckz! I had mine on 11/24. Yes, I also cannot tolerate the Protein Shakes now, they honestly disgust me. Don’t tell my hubby that, he just bought me two more cases. My dietician suggested that if you don’t like something initially, to give it a second try 7 days later. It’s supposed to be better the second time. They just stare at me now whenever I open the fridge. 🤣 have you tried Protein Powder? I got the GENEPRO one, it’s a little more expensive than the others, but my dietician says this is one of the best. I honestly got it only because it was unflavored, I hoped I’d be able to throw it in anything I ate to help get the Protein numbers in each day. I mix it with cottage cheese and it’s been delightful! What do you like these days? Anything that’s worked for you?? I’m all ears!

PrettyBrown reacted to Dee Dee in Plain Greek Yogurt ~ what can I do with it??
I am in my second week postop. I am branching out trying different things in very small portions but I bought this big container of plain Greek Yogurt and I don't know what to do with it to make it palatable?

So far I put Splenda in it and then I could at least get it down. It tastes like sour cream when it is plain.

I know about adding fruit to it but is there anything else?

    Thanks so much

Sounds like me. I'm 12 days post op. Incision is finally feeling better, it was killing me at first. I've started pureed food and am feeling fine for the most part. Hang in there we'll soon be somewhat normal again.

Hang in there, love!! It gets better!... the first 5 days were hardest for me, but it does get better!! Well, easier. My advice would be to avoid regular food altogether, a sort of ‘out of sight out of mind’ kind of thing. I didn’t think it mattered until I was around regular food (Spanish rice), it’s so much harder to see the food and know you can’t have it. My doctor suggested >80grams of Protein per day. Does your program have this kind of instruction? I felt tired and weak on days that I didn’t get at least 80g.. please reach out if you’d like. Hang in there!!
