  1. i nursed my then 12 month old every 2-3 hrs ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT at that stage in the game. on my liquid phase i drank the bullets (found at GNC but i'm not sure if they have/had whey Protein in them). i also made a lot of just fruit smoothies with fruit juice/ice/fruit (you can sprinkle Protein Powder too). i just weaned my son a wk ago (at 19 months) and i had my lapband surgery august 18th. i did fine nursing and complying with the new way we have to eat! good luck!!!!
  2. I had thought we were suppsed to stick to 3 meals per day with no snacking so that we don't stretch out our pouch and cause slipping? I saw that some of you are also snacking...what are you doing? My doctor says only 3 meals. Just curious.
  3. i'm only 33 also...that's why i'm concerned. so we'll def need a new one...at only being 33 (even if they do last 15 years). bummer!
  4. Does anyone know the life-span of bands? I figure that eventually we will all have to get re-banded. What then?? Will we all have to self pay b/c insurance won't approve someone that is at their normal weight. I self-payed this time around and I can't imagine being able to pay another 16K in 10 years. Thoughts??
  5. oh man that sucks! did they say why they couldn't get the tube in? are they worried about that problem again?
  6. i'm 5 wks out and doing really well! i am down 18 lbs now  i really like dr. fusco and donna is wonderful!

I have made it through 2 whole weeks. I'm down 16.5 lbs and I am feeling really good now! THe added protein was a godsend! I did 2 wks of liquids and now I'm on mushy foods. I have been enjoying mac&cheese a lot! I am so scared of gaining weight back and will be happier once I get my first fill (in one more wk). People are noticing the weight loss I started exercising tonight and feel good about that! I will start with my personal trainer on Thursday (doing 2 days a wk with her and the rest on my own).

  13. i just had my band put in 2 wks ago. i am still nursing my 1 year old. i got home from surgery at 6 pm and nursed him around 7:30 and then all night long. I didnt take the lortab/hydrocodone but instead took liquid tylenol for pain. my lactation consultant said it was fine to nurse that night. my actual surgery was performed at 1:30 pm and lasted an hour. oh and i suggest getting clear Isopure from GNC for your Protein for the first wk. i didnt know about this stuff and i suffered the whole first wk with getting no protein at all. my son nurses every 3-4 hrs or so still, so any nutrients i was getting/calories was leaving my body quickly and i had zero energy. my milk supply didn't seem to be affected though surprisingly.
  14. i also got my band by dr. fusco. i was banded just 2 wks ago (aug 18th). so far i have lost 17 lbs  i have been very happy with dr. fusco and his staff. his aftercare nurse, donna is wonderful!!! i suggest attending a seminar that is held once a month to learn more!
  15. congrats on your band! i'm 2 wks out and i had the WORST gas ever the first wk! it is completely normal!! i had gas pains that went into my shoulder which is also normal. give it a wk and you will be feeling better! get up and walk walk walk too!
  16. my husband is 28 (i'm 33) and we only have sex like every other wk (we have a 2 1/2 and 1 year old). we are busy with kids mostly. when we do have sex it is after about 40 min of foreplay---so he only lasts about 5 minutes TOPS. it sucks. haha.
  17. i was just banded a wk ago. my lactation consultant said it was fine to nurse him that night which i did. i didnt take the hydrocodone b/c of nursing but instead took tylenol which was fine. my son is 12 months old and 21 lbs. i lifted him about 5 days after surgery and have been fine (although i have my husband do most of the lifting). good luck! i might add--my doctor didnt allow Protein drinks the first week that weren't clear liquid but i wish i would have known about Isopure. unfort i didnt know about it last wk and in the first wk i only got 5g protein each day from the special K Protein Drinks. my calorie intake was only about 500 calories each day as well. my son still nurses every 3-4 hrs around the clock so i had ZERO energy! now i'm on protein drinks and yogurt and cream Soup so i feel better. make sure you get more protein in than i did!
  18. good luck friday. i am also a self-pay b/c my insurance denied. i had a major abdominal surgery (my ovary and cyst were removed and i was cut hip-to-hip and in the hospital for a week). this is nothing like that surgery. for this i just took liquid tylenol (because i'm nursing and didnt want the big-gun meds). i did fine on tylenol (i'm only 1 wk out). my biggest complaint were the gas pains. you'll do fine :crying:
  19. i'm not on the official august roster but i was banded 8-18. today is my 1 wk post surgery date! :crying: i am finally starting to feel human again. my dr. has you drinking no protein shakes the first wk so i have had zero protein for 1 wk and only clear liquids...ugh! today i was able to add protein drinks and cream soup to my diet which i loved! i have lost 17 lbs since friday 8-15. wahoooo! ansley
  20. im not sure about peanut butter but instead of protein shakes i do the carnation instant breakfast packages. i use 2 packages with 16 oz of low-fat milk. this give you about 25 g protein.
  21. no i'm not walking around as much as i should be. i have been trying to drink all day. i'm wondering if the constant nursing that my son does is causing any pain???
  22. I was just banded this past Monday. Is it normal to have pain every time I drink or consume anything? I am on clear liquids but everytime I drink even water it makes me even more gassy and it hurts. I'm supposed to be drinking 48 oz of water but that's not happening because it makes me feel so full and bloated and the gas worse. Anyone else experiencing pain from just water or liquids?
  23. i have a medical card. they said i need to always carry it because if i were in an accident, etc it would have my dr's phone number on it and what type of device (the band) i have inside of my body. they said it's very important to have
  24. yes, i am bloated! i'd say have some stretchy clothes for your meeting! you might be sore too. i am having the worst gas pains (more so than the pain from the incisions). i called donna and she said that some people react well to disolve-able gas-x. i just had my husband go get me some. i am also having some bad diarreah (sorry i know it's gross). donna said that's normal as well. where will you be teaching? i'm also a teacher but currently a stay-at-home mom. i taught elem. school until my maternity leave 2 years ago.
  25. Is it normal to have a bad headache that won't go away? I was banded 2 days ago and it seems like my headache won't go away. Any suggestions--or is it normal?
