Smooth Move Tea is amazing. If I need to, I drink it after dinner and by the morning, things are moving smoooooothly.

I'm a teacher and was back to work after 2.5 weeks. I was tired, but if I could have just sat and read, I'd have been okay. It really depends on the individual. I will say that I noticed my eyes were really dry after surgery so I bought lubricating drops and that helped a lot. I would say go for it but have a contingency plan just in case.

I tell people that I've had it. I haven't blasted it on Facebook, but when I get the questions, I just answer them. I don't really care what they think as I did it for my family and myself. I haven't had any negative reactions - at least that I know about - but I don't really care if there are. I feel great, and my diabetes is gone so they can think whatever they want. Not everyone wants to be that open about it, and that's fine. Everyone needs to do what works for them.
And do people really pay that much attention to what other people eat or don't? I never have paid that much attention unless it's some dish that I made specifically for a person and then I'm like - YOU HAVEN'T TRIED IT YET!!!???
If they keep asking if I want something, I just say - I'm good, thanks!

Hello!! Just wanted to update and say it's definitely possible! I started this journey in Oct. 2020 at 311 and diabetic. Lost 45lbs before my March 2021 bypass, no longer diabetic, and today I hit ONEderland. I haven't seen this weight on a scale since 1995! Remember it's a journey - it's not a sprint or a quick fix.
-
Normally I'm not a toot your own horn kinda gal... but bring out the trumpets!! I hit ONEderland this morning. Friday will be my 6mo anniversary from surgery, but I started the journey in Oct. 2020. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the knowledge and support!

This Friday marks my 6 month surgiversary, and so far I am loving it!! I have new love and appreciation for clothes shopping, I'm training for a 5k, and I've made all of my self-imposed benchmarks so far including entering ONEderland this morning in time for my birthday later this month. I've noticed a bit of slow down, but like @GaGirlGettingHealthy said, it's a marathon not a sprint. I'm not letting the numbers or the scale dictate how I feel. I did that for far too long.

I feel this post so hard. I started my journey on 10/5/2020 so it's been almost a year for me. I was diagnosed as diabetic and that's what started it. I"m 47, and I was 311 lbs. Surgery was March 3, 2021 and I am down 111 lbs. I'm right at 200 lbs exactly and ONEderland is teasing me. I NEVER thought I could feel this way. The whole time I was going through the process, I kept thinking... I know it happens for others, but it just won't work for me. I have had an amazing year. Probably one of the best years I've had in decades. I got to ride roller coasters this summer with my girls. My wedding rings fit again. I've started running and I'm prepping for a 5K. I can go shopping in the "regular" side of the store. I BORROWED A SHIRT FROM MY TEENAGER!!! I feel so much better, but TBH, I still can't believe it.
It's a process, and it's a mental game just as much if not more than a physical one. Have patience, follow your plan, and work on YOU. You can do it!

So true. I got intentional about prepping my lunches this week, and I prepped 5 containers of veggies, hummus and eggs. All good stuff, but then I took a second look at it and I was like - ummm... two of these containers will last me the whole week. Six months out and I'm still not doing the proper sized portions. It's hard!!
I am also a card carrying member of the clean your plate club! Hard habit to break.

Hi All!! Had bypass on March 3rd and passed my 100lbs lost mark today!! Please keep in mind that I lost 45lb pre-op so it's about 56lbs post-op so don't compare it to the full 100lbs. I know we all stress out comparing weight loss, but I just wanted to Celebrate with my March peeps. Making good eating choices has become more of a struggle since I'm off for the summer. I'm hoping when I start back next week that getting on a schedule will help.
We've had a great summer! I've been able to keep up with my kids, ride roller coasters again and shop in the non-plus side of the store!
Hope everyone is doing well!!

I haven't had any issues either. I asked my nutritionist if I'd really had surgery or was it all a dream. She laughed and said 90% of people don't have any issues. I do feel the restriction more depending on the texture of the food. I can have a lot of Soup but not so much of chicken and steak. I was RNY on 3/3/21 and I've lost 45 since surgery. I think because I haven't had the negative consequences of throwing up or anything, it's really going to force to make better food choices. I'm hoping that if I can make that a habit now that it will serve me better when it comes to maintaining.

It’s not terrible but I have been waking up a little stiff and thought it may be since the mattress doesn’t form to my body quite the same?
SAME!! But as soon as I got to the bathroom, it goes away.

In my experience, you have to finish ALL of your pre-op stuff before they can submit it to insurance. It only took a week for mine to be approved after everything was completed.

Yes! The nurses were AMAZING! So glad I was there and not at home when it all started going crazy! Now trying to figure out if I'm allergic to Lovenox or if I have a problem with blood thinners in general. This might be info that saves my life in the future!

I had a 4 night stay after my RNY on 3/3. I had a freak reaction to the Lovenox shot the day after surgery and started bleeding heavily. My BP went down to 70/34 and my hemoglobin dropped 5 points. I ended up with 5 units of blood and they took me back into surgery. My doc said in 11 yrs, he's never seen that reaction. So....yep... went in on a Wednesday and didn't come out till Sunday.

I am blending, plus I'm adding flax seeds! I googled this after reading this post and I found a really good video series about green smoothies that made sense. It seems to be mainly apple in smoothies that causes a blood sugar spike. Berries and such actually seem to help it. He's got 5 videos going over different aspects of them. I learned a lot! This is the first video. Below the video, he's got the rest of the videos in order.

Oooo... I also specifically asked for a nutrition session about reading nutrition labels. That was really helpful too.

I switched to using a smaller plate. Since my surgeon's office recommends a more plant based approach, I did 1/2 plate veggies, 1/4 Protein, and 1/4 good carbs when I was preparing for surgery. I also worked on chewing slowly and taking small bites. Changing the plate really helped!

I've never heard of this before. Do you know why it changes?

I made it pretty clear on my profile that I was married and not in the market, but I guess they either don't read...or don't care. Or again, that I'm in an open marriage. At any rate, of course I never responded to any of them. But it was just...weird.
They don't read it. On my profile, I was pretty honest about what I was looking for. Another guy messaged me and said he was looking for a bisexual who would wear black leather and participate in swinging. (Again...no shame to anyone but that was NOWHERE on my profile.) I told him that I didn't think I was what he was looking for. He told me that I'd never know unless I tried. Also, the number of guys who tried to get me to go away with them. One guy told me he'd take me to Jamaica - we had never met or anything. I have a better sense of self-preservation than that!

I met my husband online 18 years ago. It's is crazy. Had a guy with a picture of a couple in his profile. Me: - sorry I don't talk to married guys. Him - It's okay. My wife picks them out for me. Me - 😳 Now, I'm not shaming anyone if that's your lifestyle. I was just really naive 18 yrs ago and didn't think that that REALLY happened in real life!

Same. It probably took about 60-65 lbs for me to really feel it, but I agree it was kinda overnight that all of a sudden my clothes didn't fit and people were like - Hey... are you losing weight.
