I don't smoke but I heard it takes about a month to clear your system.

I'm 2 months post-op and my teams recommends 800-1000 calories a day with the intent to work up to about 1200 calories a day which is apparently the "sweet spot" for weight loss. I will be at about 1200 calories a day until I get to goal.

Hey! How is everyone doing? Today marks 2 months since my sleeve and I've loss almost 50 lbs from my pre-op diet. Overall, I feel great. I go for my blood work tomorrow so I hope everything checks out OK with that. I walk about 3-4x a week and attend a weekly Water aerobics class. I have to "UP" my exercise routine but as a mom of 3 (youngest being a toddler), it's just so hard to find the time. The weight doesn't slide off the way I envisioned, you definitely have to put in work to lose the weight but I have no regrets.

Update: I'm 2 months post-op and so far, so good. Surgery was a success and I've loss almost 50 lbs thus far.

Maybe you're just not eating enough?! For me, a boost in calories always breaks a stall for me. Both pre and post op.

5 days away from surgery and cheated
xoxoMeli replied to Krasavitza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a medical professional. With that said, I imagine if you get back on track, you'll be fine. Just don't make it a habit of cheating. Some people only do 1 day of pre-op dieting so I imagine that there is a pretty good chance this will not ruin your chance for surgery but I would disclose this information to your surgeon and really buckle down for the next 5 days. -
Eating and drinking at the same time?
xoxoMeli replied to Krasavitza's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Food and liquids fight for space in your new pouch. You'll likely feel full and bloated and get hungry again sooner, but nothing too serious. LOL. It is my least favorite "rule" though. -
I can't say that I've ever been bored with food. LOL. I would recommend browsing the internet for fun, new recipes. I always get hyped to try new things. I like the website, www.skinnytaste.com but there are LOTS of different websites and recipes online.

PROTIEN BARS AND YOUR PLAN
xoxoMeli replied to heatherdbby's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't have this "rule" but I can understand it. It's best to get your protein from real, whole foods. Protein bars tend to be higher in carbs and calories. With that said, I like them and eat like 1 a day, most days. 2 months post-op today. -
I had a VSG on 01/06/23. I loss 38 lbs since the pre-op liquid phase. I consume 800-1000 calories a day and aim for 80+ grams of protein a day. I feel good. I haven't had any issues with any foods. Well except that I cannot tolerate protein shakes at all so I rely on protein rich foods. I can also tolerate unflavored Genepro in my Crystal Light and some protein bars.
-
I'm 5 weeks out and my Dr and Dietician said I should be consuming 800-1000 calories a day.

I had my VSG surgery on 01/06/23. I stood 1 night at the hospital. Gas pains were awful the first 3-4 days but then subsided. Almost 3 weeks later, and I feel great (no pain or discomfort!). My only complaint is that I tire easily. I've lost 30 lbs and am on soft foods. I do get hunger pains... like real hunger, not head hunger. I thought we didn't get that for a few months but I've been pushing through. Drinking my fluids and TRYING to get my protein in.

How did you choose your goal weight?
xoxoMeli replied to kbsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'5 and 150 lbs is the highest end of a "healthy" weight for my height. I got down to 168 lbs. about 5-6 years ago and while I looked good, I knew I had a few more lbs that I wanted to lose. -
7 day Pre- op Liquid diet starting on December 30th. Things are getting close!
-
Awesome job! You look great! Any tips for those of us in the pre-op stage?

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis on Friday. It was awful. I'm on antibiotics and feel a lot better now. I have pre-admission testing on Tuesday and a VSG scheduled for January 22nd. I plan to call my Dr tomorrow but will this affect my pre-admission testing? or worse yet, my surgery date? Ugh. After all the steps to get to this point, it will suck off things are postponed. Dr says it shouldn't effect my surgery and I can continue with my pre-admission testing tomorrow, as scheduled. Thank goodness! Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
