Megan831 got a reaction from Tannedhaggis2 in 6 weeks post op, everything seems to get stuck.
I easily transitioned with ground beef but everything else was/is a struggle.
The trick with not over eating is eating slow. I am terrible at it. But the times I do I notice a huge difference.
Really though everyone is different see what works for you and use it as a staple then slowly work in other things. I am 2.5 months post op and my diet is pretty much the same from 6 weeks post op. It works for me so I am sticking with it for now.
Yogurt, Protein Shake, ground beef with taco season or Tomato sauce, Protein shake, ground beef with tacon season or tomato sauce. Sounds boring but it fills me up, makes me feel like I am eating gives me my protein requirements and gives a lot of flavor.

I was on Protein Shakes on my pre-op diet, every doctor is different with what they allow and don't allow. I was allowed a normal diet up to 4 days before my surgery. Most people aren't allowed a regular diet that long but it is what my doctor allows.

Just under 8kgs so about 17lbs like you. You’re doing well so relax & Celebrate every pound you lose. Remember you didn’t put on all your weight in a couple of months so you can’t expect to lose it that quickly.
Also the rate at which you lose will change. You’ll have high weight loss weeks & non existent loss weeks when you stall. As you get closer to your goal, you’ll lose more slowly too.
Follow your plan, do the work, make the changes & you’ll lose the weight.

unless people are the size of contestants on shows like "My 600 lb Life", average weight loss for the first month seems to be about 15-25 lbs. Of course you'll find outliers on either side, but that seems to be about the norm - but this is just based on my own observation after hanging out on this site and other WLS sites for the last six years or so. That plus given the fact you're starting out at a lower weight than many of us, you're right on track.
I only lost 16 lbs the first month, and I started out MUCH heavier than you.

15 in the first month. 10 the second month and many months after that. I didn't lose tons of weight in any one month, but it just kept going and going...
Be patient, the pounds lost will add up quickly!

I lost 14 before surgery, 35 in the first month post op, and 15 the next month, Then it was slower and steady to goal in 7 months. HOWEVER>>>>> This is not a race or a competition. Everyone is different. I wish I had lost slower, as it would have given my brain a chance to catch up. I really struggled with body image and dysmorphia. Everyone loses as different rates, and as long as you follow the plan, the weight will come off. You have to run your own race and absolutely cannot compare to anyone else. I also started exercising right away and took that part of the plan very seriously. I think that accelerated my weight loss, but like I said, it did have a down side.

I lost 23 pounds the first month HOWEVER, you started out at a hundred pounds less than me. So 17 pounds in the first month is fantastic! Be proud, you're doing great!

Just remember as you lose weight, your BMR, basal metabolic rate will decrease. BMR is the amount of calories your body needs to maintain it's current weight. For example my BMR at my surgery weight was 2366 calories/ day. 11 months post surgery my BMR is 1776 calories/ day. That is 600 calories per day less! So of course I am losing weight at a slower rate than I was 11 months ago. Just something to think about. Yes losing all that weight is great, but also concentrate on building healthy habits as well.

Nothing only about 17lb in the first month regardless of surgery day weight, but given your surgery day weight you have done exceptionally well. Perhaps time to reset your expectations, you have a lower starting weight you are not going to achieve the same weight loss as you see in reality shows or see in people who have a much higher surgery day weight.

I’m thrilled to have reached goal today! Coincidentally, it happened on the anniversary of my initial consult with my surgeon. I’m down 100lbs and feel lighter than air!

Pics are below! For those that wonder about loose skin, yeah I gots it! I’m having PS to remove it, but I’ll take the loose skin over fat any day! Tried to show what I look like with clothes on, with shirt pulled up and with loose skin untucked out of my pants! LOL!

    Hello all,
I am having the Sleeve on Thursday this week and up until now I have been really excited, now not so much. I keep questioning if I should do it on my own. Its just seems really daunting at this point.
I started my pre surgical diet yesterday and pretty much spent the last 2 days dying of hunger and in the bathroom (sorry for the TMI). I am sure that is what is causing the freak out. But well here I am.
    Well thanks for listening.

I have a gastric bypass RNY the following Thursday (22nd) and I've been on the pre-op diet for a week. I'm starving hungry too and also feeling anxious about the surgery. Covid means I have to go to the hospital on my own too and no visitors for the 2 nights I'm there - I agree having to be on my own is very daunting. I'm just trying to hold it together by reminding myself why I'm doing this - steady weight gain, yo yo dieting for years, high bp, arthritis, pre-diabetes. If I postpone it now, all routine ops here might be cancelled till who knows when if covid accelerates more, so I think as my decision is made, it's best to just do it now. Good luck!

I just had my surgery on the 5th and was also super nervous. Time will fly by so quickly and you’ll most likely look back on this point in a few weeks and be so grateful you made the decision to go through with it. I told my surgeon I was really nervous and he prescribed me some Valium that I could take before I got to the hospital on surgery day. Maybe that might be an option? Either way, knowing what I know now, I feel like I totally could have done it without any sort of anxiety meds. It’s not as bad as we build it up to be!
