    When can I eat steak?

I ate about 2 oz once and did fine, I am 4 months out now.

    Sugar Free/fake sweeteners drinks

Hint water is good for just a tiny flavor. what about infusing fruit, mint, cucumber into water. CirKul (sp?) has some flavors that you might enjoy. I make decaf tea and sweeten it myself. the squeezable water mixins work better because you control how much you add. Good luck!!
  3. there is also protein2o water that is pretty good.

  8. I changed jobs in the middle of my process and they submitted documentation to new insurance and they only wanted me to redo one thing (nutrition assessment) and approved. Good luck!

Can you have pasta after surgery?

I'm 3 months post DS and I can eat pasta but not white bread. I usually go with chickpea, cauliflower or protein pasta to make it worthwhile. Everyone is different, good luck!
  10. I am only 10 weeks post op however for the 2 periods that I have had, cramping is excruciating and nausea for a few days before I start. Anyone else had this experience and did it improve? Side note, I have always had issues with menstruation having PCOS just seems more exaggerated currently

    Regrets

I have had menstruation issues since my surgery as well. Have you consulted your OBGYN? They are more specific to regulating female hormones or even endocrinology could help. Hopefully this will regulate itself with time but interventions should be able to help in the interim.

    Goal rewards—suggestions?

I also use things that I want such as to try a new makeup or day trips as inspiration. Home decor, such as new bedding, painting a room, or wall hanging that I want and would usually just buy/do I set a goal and work on it.

    Gastric Sleevr Vs. Bypass

have you considered the Duodenal Switch? It is a sleeve in conjunction with intestinal bypass for malabsorption. not a lot of surgeons do it routinely, but I have been very pleased with my results this far (3 months out) and research shows that weight loss retention is most successful with this surgery.

Eating too much? 3 months out

I have been able to eat 75% of a kids sandwich (4in, I think) on wheat bread from Subway and I am 3 months out. I have had the DS procedure and have been told that I may be able to tolerate larger portions than the other surgeries.

    Meal planning trackers?

I create pinterest boards for each week and prep on Sunday. I use my instapot, crockpot and airfryer ALOT. example, we had spaghetti with protein noodles last night, chicken pot pie soup (leftover turkey) tonight, ham and beans, cauliflower pizza, beef stroganoff to finish off the week. I can make veggies for side for hubby or a side salad. I also share leftovers with my brother and mom who live close by. one of my friends with 4 teenage boys just makes double and freezes one of everything she makes, like lasagna, casseroles, etc for her family.

    DS 11/13

I'm so glad that you are recovering well. good luck to you and your wife
  17. start tracking your intake, increasing water intake, eliminating caffeine, sweets and alcohol, start meal prep research and invest in any needed tools, try a variety of protein shakes and powders, research recipes and phases....the more you do to prepare the easier the transition will be after surgery. I personally invested in glass meal prep containers, measuring cups, shaker bottle, personal blender, 1/4-1/2 c storage containers. I also had a variety of premade shakes available, protein broths and soups, hot chocolate and chai tea (from BP store), and a vanilla, chocolate and unflavored protein powder for adding to food to supplement protein. Also, get in the routine of being active everyday if you are not already. Hope this helps and good luck!

Am i gonna puke all the time??

3 weeks postop and haven't vomited at all, one episode of nausea yesterday with trying something too soon possibly.
  19. I'm 3+ weeks postop and no nausea but tried turkey sausage for the first time this am after working in ER (nurse) during the night for first time as well. should I hold on turkey sausage? Is this feeling food intolerance or just unrelated?
  20. ecugsplgrl

    nausea 1st time

I think that might be the case, everything else has gone fine.

    Pre-Op Questions

also ask about any tests that you may have to "pass" to discharge. I had to complete a upper GI study with contrast and that may also affect breast feeding.
