My Dietitian recommends the Slimfast Protein (along with various other Protein shakes) and I have to say I was quite surprised when I bought it to see how much sugar/carbs are in it. I've got a variety of other shakes as well to try post-op so I suppose I'll just have to see what works!
Yeah, I think my dietitian mentioned diluting things that might be sweet, so diluting the slimfast might be the way to go.
Althou I have now ordered a protein powder called Phd diet whey (chocolate) which is lower in sugar.
I guess we will both see how it goes

Do you think the use of drains and the lovenox injections post op is for patients with a bigger BMI?

my liquid intake is pretty low the goal is 400 ml before I leave and I only have 60. The nausea is making it hard to drink but it’s not that bad today
if I don’t meet goal l have to stay another night
Hope you meet the goal and the nausea reduces for you.

Hi
I am preparing for post op diet (gastric bypass) and I am looking at Protein powders / shakes.
I know slim fast are rather tasty but I am worried the sugar in it might cause dumping syndrome. Is it best to avoid and try another Protein Powder?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I guess I do have unrealistic expectations for weight loss. I think I got too excited over the honeymoon period thing. Numbers are important to me, so not seeing the scales shift will probably get to me...I know that has to change.
I think once I am post op, I will be more appreciative to not see it as a race.

Mine has many options. Is varys to liquid diet to solid diet, you can change it per day. I am going to try 1000 cal diet option where its bascially 1 slice bread, 2 x eggs, veg for every meal with yoghurt as a snack.

Hi
Recommended daily Protein is 60-90 grams per person?
I was recently watching a video by Dr Vuong and he mentioned trying to reach high number of protein grams per day will lead to regain. It was suggested reaching a lower number and in the comments values like 40 grams per day were mentioned.
Thoughts?

Hi
I heard gastric bypass is slightly more effective in weight loss compared to the other surgeries? Is this true?
During the honeymoon period, I am hoping to lose 14 pounds per month. How long does this honeymoon period last for?

Has anyone undone their surgery by regaining ?
I am really scared of this happening . I am having a gastric bypass done at the end of Oct and I am self funding.
I heard once u stretch your stomach by overeating, it wont shrink back. This would be the worst case scenario, undoing the hassle of surgery and wasting all that money.
Thoughts?

I had the balloon for a year and got it removed last april.
It didnt work for me. No restriction felt, I ate normally. Only time I felt it is when I ate quickly.
I am a emotional eater, I dont think I was prepared very well. But honestly its best investing money elsewhere.

I ordered a Protein powder called Phd diet whey which has artificial sugars in it (I think!) , I have a feeling I wont react to it as say to something like slim fast which is higher in sugars and carbs. But yeah, I guess we'll see how it goes...
