I applied for weight loss surgery 8 years ago and was denied because my insurance did not carry a benefit. I managed to lose 63 lbs on my own, following my denial. I managed to get down to 202 lbs. I then gained that back, and then some. This placed me at my highest weight of 298.
After completing my bachelor's in education, I moved states for a job opportunity. Prior to starting my new job, I was diagnosed with intercranial hypertension. I was quickly losing my vision and suffered unbearable headaches. Weight was thought to be the cause. I suffered for the entire first year of my job. Finally, in February 2020, I had two stents place in my head for narrowed transverse sinus veins. This opened the viens and allowed for the cranial fluid to better cycle. I am not in remission.
My insurance carries a small benefit. I decided I want to stay in remission, so I was referred for surgery. I was approved! Surgery scheduled for Sept. 30th.
