Daily Plate - wake up call

I use daily plate also. It has saved me big time from making huge mistakes. Sometimes we think because something is low fat or low sugar it is low calorie. Unfortunately that is not true. I log my calories first thing in the morning then go back as I make some changes. Between it and the band I have, so far, been successful. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Bariatric Advantage has chewables in adult sizes. They have several kinds. Also I buy capsules and put them in the blender with my protein shakes.

    Scales....... what's yours?

I bought two digital scales and get 2 different weights! (weight watchers and biggest loser) Some times I can get on and off and get a new weight! It drives me nuts! I relay on the old fashion one at the gym which consistently shows a weight loss. Physiologically though since I weigh there later in the day it shows a higher number. I would love to get an accurate number first thing in the morning. Oh and I tried weighing my hand weight and sometimes it is accurate and sometimes it isn't. If anyone has a good scale I would be interested too.
  4. Not a chance... I have gained and lost a million times and have no reason to believe I can live without the band. If I need to eat more to maintain my weight I will have it reduced but I can always get a fill if the weight starts creeping up again. It is like a security blanket. Good luck on your journey.
  5. I know the feeling. I felt a little panicy the day before but not too bad. Then right before they took me into the operating room I almost said STOP! But then the wonderful happy drug took over and the next thing I knew I was done! It is the best thing I ever did for myself! Good luck! Oh and if you have more energy you can come to my house today I have a messy kitchen and a bathroom that needs to be cleaned... just trying to help
  6. I wonder if head hunger ever goes away. I still get it when I feel stressed. The only difference is I reach for something healthy. But even healthy food can be loaded with calories. I am proud of you for starting again! Here is my email address to keep in touch. dhmatalas@gmail.com
  7. My doc suggested to wait 3 months before using one. He did say some people end up with gas that makes them burp. I use them all the time and drink slowly which is fine. If i drink too fast I get uncomfortable.
  8. First dont give up!!!!! You have lost 65 lbs which is fantastic! Give your self credit for that. Now get rid of all bad food in the house. If you really and truley need ice cream you have to go to a place that serves individule servings BUT before you go you must get dressed, put on makeup and comb your hair! Look in the mirror and remember what you looked like before you lost 65 lbs. Yes you can have a serving but only a serving. Now make yourself do something for 15 minutes today. Walk around the block or go to the gym. I garantee if you go to the gym you will spend more than 15 minutes working out. But if you dont just do the 15. Increase it by just a minute every day. Does your gym have classes? I got sick of my regular routine and started taking classes. They have several different ones so I took one of each till I found something I liked. I am now addicted to yoga ( don't confuse it with being good at it :blushing: The good thing about the classes is that no one is looking at you. Everyone is there trying to do their own work out. Okay? you can do it...walk away from the computer, clean out the junk from the kitchen and go move your body! Promise yourself you will follow a healthy life style just for today. Then tomorrow promise you will do it for the day. If you do slide backwards DO NOT beat yourself up, just start over! I am one of those people who believes if I can do it anyone can because no one is lazier than I was! Good luck and let me know how you are doing.
  9. Mom you look m a r v a l o u s!!! As for me, I dont even recognize myself. I tend to pick up sizes that are too big and I am still shocked that they don't fit! I have some self image problems thinking I am still fat at times. People do treat me differently but then again I act differently. Heavy, I would go out without makeup and messy clothes ( nothing fit) Now I love putting makeup and good clothes! I know I am more outgoing and my kids say I am in a much better mood. I love this band!

    please help!

Tell that doctor that it hasn't gone away! If you are stuck it should pass in a couple of hours. Call him and tell him it has been a week! Not sure what the problem is but remember ( this is my mantra) He did not do the surgery for free. Good luck and let us know how you are.
  12. Teach, do you get to talk to your doctor about it or just the staff? I would suggest you make a special appointment with the doctor to discuss it. Take your food log and exercise log with you. Insist on answers. If not try to find a new doctor ( I know easier said than done!) Remember he did not do it for free! Also ask him if your band could be leaking and not holding the fill. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. Oh and above all DO NOT give up! Your are still down from your start weight so give yourself credit for that.
  13. FANTASTIC! I know how great it feels to get out of the terrible twos!! You are doing great!!

    Anniversary Challenge

Well, I went to my PCP today and he said I should maintain my weight now at 144. I always wanted to get to 139. It is still in a healthy range for my bmi etc. Sooooo, while I love the idea of being at goal I think I would like to slowly lose 5 more pounds by August 22nd. The ultimate goal of course is not to gain any. Good luck everyone

    The Mathematics of Weight Loss

Your right Jenny nor all the millions of other plans didn't work (never said they did!) I love my band too! I have lost 105 lbs since 8/2008 only 5-6 till goal. Best of luck to you too.
  16. Yea but it really DID happened, not to me but to my best friend's neighbor's hairdresser's uncle's boss's daughter!

    The Mathematics of Weight Loss

Steph, glad I could brighten your day! Look he said Jenny Craig does not tell you how many calories you get per day. I just stated they clearly told me.... Yes I understand he said 2000 calories are on the label however he gives the impression that most people could maintain weight on that. I only stated that no where have I seen it on calorie estimator for woman. He implies that the average person eat that much. I asked where this is coming form. Clearly you think I am an idiot and trying to insult the doctor. That is not my intent. Just correcting him about Jenny Craig and asking where he gets his info. But glad I gave you a a laugh!

    The Mathematics of Weight Loss

Not sure you have your facts correct about weight loss plans. Before banding I was a life long member of Jenny Craig. They clearly told me that I would start out at 1500 a day and go down to 1200 before starting maintenance. On the subject of eating 2000 calories a day...Are you serious??? At my current weight I would gain! There are many sources of calorie estimators on line and none that I have seen says that an average woman would need that many. I even exercise a lot 6 days a week and can not eat that much! I would love to know how you come up with this stuff??
  19. For a long time I thought I was home free. I didn't start losing hair until I was 7 months out. I have lost a lot but do expect it to grow back once I hit my goal and stabilize. I do take lots of vitamins and get plenty of protein but........

Friday Morning Weigh In May 22

As I am getting closer to my goal weight I am losing slower but still losing. This week was 1 lb.

    Bacon Cheeseburger Quiche

sounds good but high in fat maybe?? Beef, whole eggs, cheese... Do you have the calorie, fat info. (If I wasn't so lazy I could probably figure it out.) Anyway it does sound good!
  22. I got the tip from someone's post a while ago. Doing the yoga "downward dog" position moves it right out! I have used it twice.

    pain meds

Extra strength Liquid Tylenol was all I needed. I only took it for 2 days. Walking was what I needed for the gas which was the worst of it. Good luck on your journey.
  24. I love my lap band and I am very happy with my progress! However I am so annoyed at those who now tell me to stop losing! I have discussed my goal weight with both my surgeon and primary care doc. Both agree that because I am small boned I should be somewhere between 139-135. Now friends and people I know casually are telling me I have lost enough weight and should stop! The are even trying to sabotage me. I hate to point out that I am now thinner than those who are telling me this. I just smile and tell them I am following doctors orders. Any one else going through this?
  25. Congrats to all of you. I agree it is up to us to pick a healthy weight we can maintain. No matter what that number is as long as we are healthy and not under weight then we have accomplished our goals! Let's face it what ever we lose is much better than carrying around our start weight! I am working on trying to ignore these comments.
