  1. The mere thought of being able to shop in a store without a plus sized section is exciting and incredibly daunting at the same time. I literally do not ever remember shopping for myself at a place that didnt carry plus sizes, or weighing under 200lbs.

On another note, I have gotten the impression that your feet shrink as well?

That sucks, cuz I have close to 90 pair of shoes!

I do not have one pair of shoes that fit properly! I have no idea what my real shoe size is! I actually think I might have a narrow width... It is hard to find them in a store to try on. But shopping in the "normal" section is a wonderful experience!

  2. That is fantastic! I started 2 months after I was banded and it just helped melt the weight. I never thought I would say I love working out but now I feel like a slug if I miss more than one day a week! Good luck on your journey!

  3. August 22 was my one year anniversary! I have reached my weight loss goal and my weight is around 135-133! I feel fantastic. I exercise 6 days a week and have never been in this healthy in my life. I am hoping that even at my age (59) some day I can teach cycle spin class and yoga. I love my band and my new body!!

  4. I do weigh myself every morning when I am empty. I find that scales are not nice creatures! I can move mine an inch or so and get a weight 1/2 more or less than the first time I got on it. So I went out and bought a second scale and pretty much the same things happen. I have a weight watchers and a biggest loser scale. They never agree with each other! If anyone has a good scale I would love to know the brand.

  6. It seems everyone is different and so are their doctors. All the things you mentioned were off limits for a while but then I was able to add things back, in moderation of course. Different foods bother people. I don't eat bread but I know it bothers a lot of people. Dry chicken can be a problem for me as well as soy Beans. I eat a bag of 100 calorie popcorn every night and a lot of apples with skins (chew chew chew) with no problems. I also eat shrimp every so often. I know many of us eat nuts. I do not eat fried foods and really think it is a good idea to give them up. I have had a problem with celery but I know I didn't chew it well enough. I think it is a good idea to listen to your doctor then after several months you can see what bothers you. A word of caution, getting stuck is no fun! Chew chew chew. Good luck on your journey

  7. I agree with the others, as with any surgery there are risks but it my case being 250 lbs with very high blood pressure, type II diabetes was much more risky than the surgery. I was on 5 different medications and felt terrible. Now I am not on any and feel great. Obesity does carry a lot more risks.

  8. How about a PCP if not your surgeon?? You could be deficient in various nutrients or just maybe sick ( hope not) Just go to a regular doctor. Tell him/her you don't feel well and mention the band. Good luck...by the way you should be able to talk to your surgeon by phone too.

  9. (knock knock almost 60 yr old here...) I didn't start till I had lost about 30 lbs and had some more energy. Of course if you can start walking now that would be great I joined a gym and started slowly with the treadmill and light weights. I then added the elliptical ( could only do 3 minutes the first time) Little by little I added more time and resistance to my work out. I now work out 6 days a week for 2 hours. I do take weight classes and yoga. I still find it hard to believe I actually have some muscle! Good luck and remember take it at your own pace. Good luck.

  10. I use BA and Unjury. I like them both. BA has Vitamins and carbs. For lunch I mix the vanilla of one or the other) with 2 cups of frozen strawberries and sweet'n low and skim milk n a blender. It taste like a milk shake to me. It with BA it comes to 320 calories and with Unjury it is 280. It does stop me from craving bad things. I have also used the chocolate of both with skim milk and sugar fee carmel Syrup and ice in a blender ( sometimes I add instant de-caff coffee graduals to it) BA is 220 and Unjury is 180.

  11. Bill, i have been asking my self the same question should I get a fill. I am almost at goal but I am getting hungry every 3 hours. I am trying to hold out to see if adding maintenance calories will help. I do work out a lot and that could be the reason for the hunger. I am trying to give it another 3 weeks to see what I feel like at goal. If adding calories does not work I will get one. ( I have only had 2 fills in total) Good luck and congrats on your success!

  12. It could be affected by something as simple as what you just had to drink. Weigh yourself in the morning before you eat and after you go potty. If you still are not losing log your food. You should also start increasing your exercise little by little each day. Don't get me wrong it is great that you are walking but increased cardio will help you lose fat. Above all do not give up! Keep plugging and you will be fine. Best of luck.

  13. If you read through this site you will find some horror stories but the majority of us have had great success and are happy we had the surgery. Yes, it works but it is not a magic cure. You have to do the work. Follow your doctor's orders. You will find that many doctors have different opinions and restrictions. This is a tool that will help you feel full and start a healthy life style. As you read you will find you can eat around the band ( ice cream candy etc) that will go through easily. That is a challenge for some people. The answer to Coke, ( I assume you mean the drink  varies. Now if you are talking sugar soda you should never drink it again. As for other carbonated drinks some doctors say yes after 6 months, like mine did, some say never. It can make you very gassy. I had a big diet soda habit before surgery. After giving it up for 6 months I find I do not crave it. While I will have some once in a great while I find I can not drink canned or bottled because of the gas, however, fountain soda does not bother me. Everyone is different and so are their doctors. For me it was the best thing I have ever done! I wish you much luck and great success on your journey!

  14. I use daily plate also. It has saved me big time from making huge mistakes. Sometimes we think because something is low fat or low sugar it is low calorie. Unfortunately that is not true. I log my calories first thing in the morning then go back as I make some changes. Between it and the band I have, so far, been successful. Good luck and keep up the good work.
