Hi, I got released today. Thank god the nausea has pretty much passed. 3 hour drive home and i'm tender but doing well. I am very much looking forward to sleeping ion my bed with my husband tonight. What kind of pain medication did you guys go home with. They gave me 15 hydromorphone tablets. I took one when I got home and now I am resting comfortably. Funny thing is yesterday I didn't have any pain meds. The drive home must have shook my body up a bit.

I'm at cvs right now getting my Rx for oxycodone. 45 more minutes, I'll be home. I live 4.5 miles off pavement on a washboard-y road, so I'm glad I have a pillow with me! I ordered a wedge pillow for my bed, so I can be partially on an incline. Lying flat kinda hurts.

  2. I will probably go home this evening. My pain is pretty much gone other than the largest (the one they pulled the stomach through) incision, and that's not that bad. I didn't take the last iv pain med because I didn't think I needed it. I gotta say, it's kinda cool to not be hungry at all. I've seen commercials on tv (which I don't tend to watch, but what else is there in here? LOL) that would normally have me salivating, but I'm like "meh..."

I'm getting better at getting Protein Shakes down (I can do 2oz in half an hour now, go me!) and I've discovered that Water has to be ice cold (or even ice chips) to avoid hiccups.

The hospital is 60 miles round trip from my house, so I haven't had visitors (I'm pretty okay with that with how horrible I was Tuesday), but I'm looking forward to seeing my family now.

  3. I'm glad you guys are doing well... I'm having a really rough go of it. The nausea is kicking my ass all over the place. On day 1 (the day after surgery) I am supposed to have 30 ml (1oz) every hour. I'm lucky if I get 10ml and even then I end up dry heaving all over the place. The lady I'm sharing the room with said I've gotten her gagging a few times. [emoji17]I'm a terrible neighbour. The nurse says it's ok... It's not abnormal so it should wear off. Fingers crossed for that sooner rather than later.

I feel ya... My surgeon wants me to stay until tomorrow. I'm glad I'm in a room by myself...

  4. Hey, all... Had surgery on the 2nd. Still in the hospital and will be here again tonight. Had really, REALLY bad gas pains, and I have an extremely high pain tolerance (I gave birth twice at home with nearly 10lb babies). It was so bad last night they actually gave me a CT scan (it was clear). So...a couple hurdles. Ah well. Also drinking makes me hiccup, no matter how slow I sip. Ugh...

Not Fibromyalgia, but I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis. While my weight loss didn't completely eliminate my flare -ups, I do notice less inflammation in my body generally. And to the extent that the weight loss has lessened the pressure on my joints, that's been helpful.

Thanks so much for relating your experience! It'd be a fantasy to believe it will go away (darn...) but I am happy to hear the inflammation in general and the pressure on joints eases up some.

  6. Hi, all!

I have fibromyalgia and a right foot that has literally 5 things wrong with it. I have lost 20lbs since I started weighing myself on the 6th of October, and my foot feels better already (I am really trying to avoid foot surgery, or at least postpone it for a long time). I am scheduled for my VSG this afternoon. My question is, has anyone else with fibromyalgia had a significant decrease in pain levels after losing their excess weight?

  7. Well, I am sure @tropico78 is in for her surgery or in recovery... I hope things go great there! I wasn't able to log on yesterday to say GOOD LUCK to all my fellow November 2nd peeps! Also, I noticed my name is wrong on the list... it is GivinItMyALL like Givin' :) That's why the tag didn't work, I guess.

Very much looking forward to surgery this afternoon, just not looking forward to going from 8am-4pm with no food or Water. I go from half a gallon to a gallon a day down to NOTHING? Gahhh!

I will get a head start and wish @Meredith25, @Chelsealauren09, and @MomwithaMasters good luck tomorrow (in case I am still out of it :D )

I will be dropped off at the hospital, as my hubby couldn't get away from work today, but that is okay. I actually like doing this stuff on my own. I just hope they let me keep my phone for a while, so i have something to do while I wait.

Well, I am off to make myself my last meal for a while! Much love to everyone!

    Hi all.

I'm wondering if there is anyone else on a pre-op diet (or who has already gone through that process) who already (prior to the diet) was not drinking pop or soda, things like that, ate mostly "balanced meals" and who is still working out or physically active? Thanks in advance 🙂

Well... I had the no pop part... the rest...? Ehhhh... 😀

so far I'm doing pretty well on my pre-op diet...5 days in and am losing about a pound a day, although I know that losing weight isn't the point. hoping alot of the weight loss is my liver shrinkage :D:D :D After the first day it was much more manageable.

I am so hoping that as well! I have a scale that measures a whole bunch of things, and I am happy my visceral fat percentage is going down... I am more concerned about that than subcutaneous or body fat percentages. Awesome for the pound a day, though!

Won a free 4 pack of the new Premier Protein cinnamon roll shake and it came in the mail today. It was...interesting. I’ll finish the other three but I wouldn’t buy it. I got the premier Protein clear fruit punch Protein Water and it is so much better than Protein20. Sucralose>Stevia.

And the last trial item today was BariMelts Vitamins. Those were a total win. They tasted fine, actually dissolved in my mouth, and didn’t hurt my stomach. I ordered a 30 day supply.

Cinnamon roll... Interesting. I got the Equate high Protein (it's very similar to Premier) in caramel the other day, and I was very surprised at how good it was. Like, I'd love to put it into coffee (I don't drink coffee anymore because I cannot drink it without SO much sugar and creamer... It was really an unhealthy amount). Dunno how I'll react to them AFTER the surgery, though.

I'll have to look into that clear protein. Though I may just use GENEPRO in some Water with Mio in it...

  11. I'm allowed food on my 10 day, but probably not what I had tonight. Dang it, I wanted to eat with my family ON MY BIRTHDAY. I'm still at under 600 calories for the whole day, so I didn't blow it too bad. My family was having chicken with G Hughes sugar free BBQ Sauce, bacon, and cheese, with au gratin potatoes. I passed on the potatoes, had 4 oz chicken with a spoonful of the sauce, maybe 1/4 slice of bacon, and reduced fat cheese. Came out to 270 calories. They had more, obviously... it was really nice to eat with them (other than the potatoes), though [emoji3531]

I hope everyone is doing well... I had my covid test earlier today. Hope everything is good there. Anyone else have to record their temperature for 10 days before?

  12. Yesterday I was having a pretty hard day. I started to freak out. Filled with anxiety!
Did not make it any better that I talked with someone I know that told me about all her complications. (Serious ones)
Did go to the hospital today, had my EKG done, talked with the nurses and had my weigh in. Getting so close now, and so real. I seriously had second thoughts yesterday.
And my daughter (she is 9 ) cried for two hours last night because she is worried about me being gone. Just broke my heart too.
Hope I can get all the negative thoghts off my mind, and be calm and secure about this surgery. Please send me some positivity! I need it bad! [emoji22]

Ohhh no. I hope today was a little better for you [emoji847]

  13. I guess I should’ve been more specific. I am not looking for brands of fruit punch. I am looking for bariatric friendly recipes for a party punch.

Maybe use one of these sugar free punches someone above has suggested, but mix it with diet sprite or something to "fancy it up" for the party? Yeah, it's slightly carbonated, but not as much as just sprite alone. And/or float some scoops of a diet ice cream on top, in the punch bowl.

  14. My nutritionist has us skip purée and go to soft food. Idk if it was a good idea though. At 6 months I was back on the soft food and liquid diet for almost a month. Now at almost 8 months I’m being put back on it again. I can’t help but wonder if it would have been better to do the purée stage
May I ask why you had/have to go back to soft/liquid after 6 and 8mo?

  15. Had my pre-op labs and EKG today. The hospital is super speedy, I will give them that. I got a text when I got out to my car that said the results were available for viewing! I waited until I got home. Everything looked good except my white blood cell count, which was high. It seems to always be high on my labs. I am assuming it is from inflammation from my Fibromyalgia. My regular doctor hasn't seemed concerned by it in the past. My temperature was normal, and I don't think I have any kind of infection... I hope!

They did not give me any Rx beforehand, but said they would call in pain meds to grab on my way home, and because they are a hospital, they are allowed to do that without a paper Rx. So I assume they will just give me the Zofran and Scopolamine patch when I get there Monday. I got a bottle of hibiclense in a cute little bag from the hospital, and instructions on how to use it the night before and day of my surgery.

I asked my doctor if anyone has ever asked for their stomach. LOL... he said yes, actually, but not often... and they can't, but they will take pics if I want. 😂

One thing that totally SUCKS is my surgery is at FOUR PM. I cannot eat OR DRINK anything after 8am. Said if I get thirsty, put Water in my mouth, hold it a bit, and spit it out. When surgery is in the morning, the fast is okay, because you're asleep overnight... during the day, going that long without food or water is going to be 😮

Interestingly, he said that if I feel good enough, I can start on soft foods (scrambled eggs and such) early... some of his patients start as soon as THREE DAYS out. 😲 I dunno if I wanna push it.
