  1. When I am down 100lb, I'm having a mini spa "day" (may be more than a day depending on when I can get appointments). An esthetician friend of mine said she would gift me a facial, waxing, and pedicure, and I also plan on getting a massage and a haircut.

My goal is 120lb down... I'm not sure what I'm going to do at goal yet.

    31lb till -100... 😁

  2. I have only had those who know I had the surgery (not many folks, and only the family I live with) ask me, and I just go ahead and tell them. I don't get out much though. If anyone else asks, I may say I dunno... that I don't weigh myself (lie). Those I definitely do NOT want to know about the surgery will get the "I am on a medically supervised diet" line, along with an "oh, I think it was about X lbs down at my last appointment."

I am a slow looser, but I really enjoy the journey. I can't wait for the summer, I am pretty sure it will be great!

Do any one want to show before and "during" photos?

Attached is a photo of me the day before surgery and one 2 months later. :)

    You're looking fantastic!

  4. How cool! I think I am going to have to take a long, hard look at my body, and see just where some of the weight is coming off, because I have lost nearly 60 lbs and only went down one pant size... Seems like it should be a little more, but... it isn't. :) I think I have lost some back fat (yay), and I HAVE noticed the underarm and pubis thing, so that is good... I HOPE my hooded eyelids become less hooded like yours!

As soon as I posted I was stalled I broke through it and went down 4 lbs in one day.

My dietician has me on a 1200 calorie a day plan and I was never able to eat that much. Finally yesterday I just forced myself to eat everything I was supposed to and just slowly ate all day. Stall broken. The problem is if I need to eat this much I can't do anything all day but eat.

I cannot even IMAGINE 1200 calories a day right now :D Yesterday, I ate about 800, and that is the most I have eaten since surgery... glad your stall broke, though! Eating 800 yesterday broke a short stall for me as well... I dunno if it was the higher calories or the higher carbs that did it.

:) I had a mini-stall (hello, Week 3!) and decided to go to my full 1,400 yesterday. Lo and behold, 2.4 lbs off the scale this morning.

My Week 3 diet plan looks like this (and it's the same for men and women, just slightly different in quantities):

    • Morning: 5oz high-protein plain yogurt (Icelandic skyr) with Protein powder
    • Mid-morning: Crisp bread with 2 slices of 18% cheese
    • Lunch: 50g of white meat, 100g of soft veggies, little sauce
    • Afternoon: 5oz high-protein plain yog (no powder added), 3oz fruit juice (no sugar added), 1/2 slice of rye bread, 2 slices of low-fat deli meat
    • Evening: Like lunch + 1 potato or 1.5oz pasta
    • Late night: 100g soft fruit, 30g 18% cheese

Edit: 32oz of low-fat dairy added during the day. I'm drinking sugar-free chocolate milk like an 8 year old. It's good, y'all!

Finally got it all in yesterday and got rewarded with a 2.4 lb drop (despite constipation being reaaal, sorry for TMI). Kinda couldn't believe it when I jumped on the scale just now.

I still can't imagine eating all that lol... Fortunately, I haven't had a stall yet (knocks wood). I have a couple bites of meat aaaand... Done for that meal.

  7. I am perimenopausal at 48, so my periods are now unpredictable... I think the surgery may have made it worse for me LOL... I also had an endometrial ablation about 11 years ago, so "normally" my periods were just wiping pink - I didn't need to use any tampons/pads. My first period after the surgery was SO HEAVY, it was nuts... then the next one never happened (still hasn't, so I guess I skipped it).

I am guessing it is from all the estrogen trapped in fat that is being released or whatnot... people say hormones get real wonky after the surgery.

  8. Hello, Jori!

990ml isn't too bad to start out with, but really try to get in more so you don't become (if you're not already) dehydrated. Try room temperature, a little colder, and ice cold... see which you tolerate best. In the VERY beginning, I could only tolerate absolutely ice cold Water, otherwise I would get terrible hiccups. That has changed and I can have all temperatures now with no problems.

You definitely need more Protein than what you're getting from one container of FF Greek yogurt, though. Have you tried Protein Shakes (that would help get in more liquid as well!) or adding some unflavored Protein Powder to your yogurt?

If walking is really bothering you, I would maybe suggest holding off on that for now, until you are getting in more calories per day.

I don't think your weight loss in the first month is *too* extreme for having had the surgery. It will slow down :)

All the best to you, and keep us posted!

  9. I use the free app Baritastic, because I like how you can put in really small portions (1oz, 1TBS, etc) of your food. It does the net carbs mentioned above, tracks Water, supplements, etc. I like the recipe feature, and the barcode scanner has only NOT found one item so far (it was something sent to me from Puerto Rico). When it didn't find it, it asked me to add it by taking a photo of the front of the item and the nutrition label, and they would add it to their database in a few days. I thought that was nifty.

    Plus... free :)

  10. So looking forward to when I will start some weight training (I am one of those who is going to wait until I am mostly to goal -- when I am actually putting more food in my body to sustain the extra energy output). I don't care if I gain a few pounds from it. Those pounds will take up less space :) I always like the visual of a pound of feathers takes up a LOT more space than a pound of Iron.< br />
    Looking great, man!

  11. Welcome to the "losers' bench" :) I am really sorry you had to go through so much from such a young age. I started gaining weight after starting birth control pills my senior year of high school. People started wondering (not so silently) if I was pregnant, when I was still a virgin at the time. Ugh... went up and down in weight my entire life. The only times I could successfully lose was if I had something SIGNIFICANT coming up -- wedding, HS reunion, etc. Tired of the up and down, and adding in pain from fibromyalgia and foot/ankle complex issues, I got determined and got sleeved this year on 2 Nov. It's been... interesting... :D but I am doing fairly well so far, and looking forward to being able to MOVE better! I already experience FAR fewer fibro flares, and my foot isn't aching 24/7.

Looks like you're doing great so far!! ❤️

  12. Hi, fellow November buddies! Wanted a bit of a snack today, and needed more Protein. I scooped up a bowl of vanilla Two Good yogurt (I can't do the other SF yogurts for some reason, but probably any vanilla one would work), added a scoop of unflavored protein, and then a tiny squirt of orange tangerine Mio. Was like a melted creamsicle. Really yummy! Just in case anyone needs something different ☺️

Thank you all for your honesty. I'm in a bad way, I'm so done with recovery. 15 days post op and I have a huge painful knot under my large incision and side stitch pain on the right. Not sleeping well because of the pulling pain. Doc told me yesterday to exercise more and expects me to lose 40 lbs every 3 months until I am down to 140. I haven't weighed 140 since middle school. I hurt physically and emotionally I am spent. I am so sore, I'd rather not start a rigorous exercise routine right now. Walking 20 mins a day is all I've got. I feel like I am behind everyone else....

Oh, please don't beat yourself up. You're doing fine. I'm not even walking that much and I'm over a month out. I know I should, but... Life. I'll exercise when I can.

Breathe, and just work at your own pace. The stress won't help. Breathe ♥️

What helped me with sleeping was a wedge pillow I got on Amazon to have my upper body elevated a bit, and a firm pillow to press on the front of me when I would try to lay on my side (I'm normally a side sleeper). Now I don't need those things anymore. You'll get there!

16th for me as well. Other than ripping a stitch, its been a great recovery. Stitch still hurts but all in all, I feel super fortunate that its gone so well.

Ouchie! How did that happen? Hope you're healing well...

I have had a couple "dissolvable" stitches surface, and come out. THAT has been weird... I think they're all done now, so now it's time to start using stuff to try to minimize the scars (I scar poorly...)

  15. Hello, I had my surgery on 11/30. Since then I’ve been good and bad from hours to hours, feeling a pressure under my breast and then it goes away. It’s very uncomfortable. But I’m here to ask about your diets. I’m on exclusively liquid diet. But I heard some people had purée right after surgery? I am feeling no hungry but I miss food. I crave food. Sorry about my English as I’m Brazilian.
My plan called for full liquid for the first week, then soft/puree, but my surgeon said a lot of his patients start soft after a few days. I waited, because I had complications and didn't even leave the hospital for 4 days...

All plans are different. Some have Clear Liquids only for a week, then full liquids for another week, etc...

I had mine 11/30. I'm just trying to stay hydrated, I can't even tolerate Jello - it makes my stomach cramp. I'm drinking Water and Powerade. I haven't lost any weight either but I am SO swollen. So I know it's Fluid. I haven't gained any, so I know once the swelling goes away, the lbs will too.

Try different temperatures of Water. Shortly after surgery, I HAD to have ice water, or I would have severe, painful hiccups. It'll get better, though -- I am a bit over a month out (surgery 11/2) and can have pretty much anything now :)

I GAINED 8lb in the hospital from all the fluids and stuff they pumped into me. It all shed a couple days later, thankfully.

  17. Your Vitamins should be liquid or chewable not capsules or tablets 10 year post op here believe me I have been deficient many times over the years from taking capsules. Now I use good brands of gummies and chewables no issues.

Both my surgeon and my dietician said tablets and capsules are fine. They don't want their patients taking gummies or softgels, though.

I've been tolerating the multivitamin just fine, thankfully. I did NOT tolerate the Calcium I had, though. I'm now taking soft chews for that.
