Yay so glad to see you are doing well!

    Post op

I’m sorry you’re in pain!! Take some meds! Or ask your nurse if you are inpatient! Walking helped me get rid of that uncomfortable gassy feeling. Hang tight! It gets better!!
  3. Thank you guys! How did I forget about cottage cheese?! Yummm! I am a yogurt hater, I’ve never enjoyed the texture (but yet I eat other weird textures lol). The nutritionist said I could try yogurt again and even put a spoonful of whip cream in it to help with the texture. Maybe I should try that too. I have not tried meat yet. I’m almost afraid of the puréed meat but I like chicken salad so I’ll try that one too! I wonder if I can add the isopure to it to? Hmm I’m not sure if it would blend well with meat. 🥴

For those post op...how are you doing with protein? my goal is 60, I just started purées yesterday but today I got 20. That was pushing it. The nutritionist at my doctor said to try to eat my tiny meal every 3 hours. I made some refried beans purée with extra unflavored protein, Ricotta bake. I tried an egg today but didn’t sit well after only 1/4 of it. I can only manage about 1-1.5 ounce of whatever.

    2 week Liquid Diet Cheat

    Yay awesome!! Congrats!!!

    Confused

Like my approval was only good for the 2 week dates they gave. Which it was good until I had surgery, but the approval letter they provided only gave an approval date of 2 weeks. So I had to have them adjust the date because surgery was over a month out from the dates they approved for. The approval part didn’t change but the extension of the date on the paper needed to. does that make more sense?

I know you are nervous but keep going!! I was too, but so glad I did it! 12/22 was my day, and though those first couple days feel yucky, I’m 1 week out and feel great. I’m not taking anything for pain, and I’m tolerating full liquids and purées (started yesterday). Since pre op diet I’m down 31lbs. My newbie tips are just walk, walk, walk and get those gas pains out! Take the nausea meds they give you. They help so much. Remind yourself why you started!

    Confused

Mine did this too. Mine approved it in 2 week increments which was silly as it was longer than that before I got a date. I just called and they did 30 days and said they could extend the approval if necessary. I have BCBS also but not NJ.

Yay tomorrow is the big day!! I’m not sure on the iron deficiency question. I won’t have post op labs for a bit. Glad covid was negative! if you can, try to give us an update tomorrow letting us know how you’re doing! Or in the next couple days!!!

    New here

Welcome!! I had my sleeve on 12/22!

    Cramps when eating

I’m only on day 5 today but same! My surgeon sent me home with Levisin (spelling?!), it’s basically a medicine to help the stomach spasms. They said it usually passes after the first week or two so I’m hoping it does! It seems to do it more with warm liquids. Feels more prominent. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Feeing Rough and Sleeve Blush

Oh girl! Don’t you apologize! This is new, scary, different! So many different feelings! Having anxiety makes it even more challenging. I’ve been *trying to keep mine in check, but you know how that goes. 🙄 Especially with pain. I feel like when I’m in pain, it exacerbates my anxiety to an all new level!

    Feeing Rough and Sleeve Blush

Yes!!! Hiccups here too!! It freaks me out! I asked another girl I know that had bypass and she said the first couple weeks she did a lot of burping and hiccuping. That made me feel better about it. 🥴

I don’t know how I would have survived without pain meds! Even with being outpatient, I still took a pain pill yesterday on day 4. I’m not taking many but definitely still need them! Tylenol just wasn’t cutting it. Hoping you get some relief soon! I have never heard of the sleeve blush, that would have scared me too. I’m glad they say it’s okay, and nothing too serious!

Lots of hugs!!!! Day 3 right? I felt it too. Just keep pushing through! I’ve been doing the chewable Gas-x. I chew it to a nasty paste and then sip water and swallow. Goes down okay and I haven’t had any issues. Very helpful. Have you tried maybe a different liquid? Crystal light? Warm? Plain water? Popsicles? I’m just throwing all kinds of things out there. Hoping it gets better for you!
  19. Amazing!!! Way to go!!!! 🙌🏼🎉🎈🎊🍾

    December 2020

I’m doing well! Much better after the first couple days. I had a couple “what the heck did I do” moments those first two days but since has been good. Definitely starting to feel more like myself. How are you doing?!
  21. Yes! Coughing up mucus is totally normal! I’m in pulmonary and because of the endotracheal tube they use, it jars all kind of nasty up! I wouldn’t be too worried! In terms of relating to getting sick or covid, anyway. do you take anything for your GERD? I’ve never really had it, minus the occasional food triggering or when I was pregnant. I’m not sure how to recognize it now. I keep like hiccuping/burping with just water so I’m wondering if that’s GERD? Or maybe just the gas still working it’s way out? I’m clueless 🤣🤣
  22. Yes! I’m on post op day 3! Starting to feel more like myself again! Cool liquids are going down (and staying down) well but hot liquids feel weird going down. Almost like I can feel every place it travels to. It’s weird. It’s not painful, but it makes me stop drinking it. 🤷🏼‍♀️
  23. You just gotta white knuckle it. It sucked. Bad. But after the 3 rd day it got better for me! I had some semi solid (hard boiled eggs) and some lean protein once a day so that helped a lot keep me feeling “normal”. It was still very low calorie and basically no carb. Once you get into ketosis though it gets better. The cravings and pangs aren’t that bad. Just be strong and you got this! I found so much encouragement in this board. I used the search function and searched for every fear, or anxiety I had knowing there was a ton of people before me feeling the same way. I read posts from 2008-2010, ten years ago and felt the same way as many of them. It’s been very helpful!
  24. I have not experienced any bleeding or leaking from my sites. Which they did say was normal if it happened. Pain wise the first couple days were rough. More from the constant nausea and vomiting I couldn’t control. Which just made the belly hurt! I had several different nausea meds I was taking and they added in a one time dose of a strong nausea pill and it made all the difference! It didn’t take long and I was feeling better! My surgery was on 12/22, today 3 days out I sat in the floor with the kids while they opened gifts, fed my daughter breakfast, and have been up on the couch sipping slowly today. Today feels like I’ve turned over a new leaf! I still am taking my pain medications every 6 hours which is helping. I skipped one overnight and was super sensitive this morning but otherwise doing good! Everyone has a different pain tolerance. I’ve always had a high pain tolerance, but not tolerant at throwing up. I’m a weakling when it comes to vomiting. Whiney too, lol. Overall, it hasn’t been a bad experience and I have no buyers remorse as of yet!
  25. It is such a personal decision. For myself, I decided it was still an okay time to do it. However, my surgery was at an outpatient surgery center. This made me feel more comfortable than being in the hospital near covid patients. Though at least at the local hospital they are keeping covid separate from other patients so you may not even encounter a covid positive person. As someone in healthcare, I can understand that after any surgery you are in a weakened state, but it wouldn’t mean your heart or lung health wouldn’t fight for you. You may be more susceptible to acquiring covid, but it doesn’t mean you would have the worst case scenario if you did. Hope this helps a bit! it definitely is a very personal decision. But know whatever you decide for yourself will be the right one!!
