What an inspiration!!! Losing a 45 pound regain. I can't say enough about your achievement. I gained five pounds and had a very difficult time losing that much. I stopped eating after 7Pm and I don't start eating again until 8AM. It is a very difficult transition for me but I do see results. Thanks for the great success story.

Excellent point, and agreed. I felt very taken aback by the response bc I didn’t feel like the OP came here for the straight talk and some of the responses were directed at things I had said.
In either case, I realize the forum is open to all types of individuals, some of us need or want positive reinforcement while others are looking for the opposite.
Regardless, let’s all make today a great day! 😀

Once again, one size doesn’t fit all and that’s the great thing about a forum like this, as a smorgasbord with many perspectives and options sans calories. Generally speaking, with just a tad of introspection each of us know what we need to do, given the individual circumstance we’re in.
There have been times in life that I needed direct straight talk and other times when ‘I had the facts’ yet needed the positive Can Do!, You Go Girl!, You Got This!, support and motivation that community can provide. Both were and are valid needs. Both were and are available on this forum, both were and are what make it a great place! Take what we need and leave the rest.💖

    Hi !
I am ten years out ! I had regained about 45 pounds of my 145 pound weight loss .... and decided it was time to lose it again. So just over a year ago, I started with cutting down on treats to one a day.... and then going from chips with lunch or eating out during work days to bringing a salad to work.... then back to either steamed eggs for Breakfast or oatmeal. And concentrating on eating Protein first and foremost. And cutting out potatoes and sandwiches, and Pasta and back to finding the freshest vegetables and fruits I could and making healthier meals and making sure there was leftover chicken for lunch the next day, and eating grilled fish and veggies ..... and in 13 months I lost 45 pounds. No, it doesn't come off like it did right after surgery, but I still have some restriction and I know what I need to do.... I won't ever be a skinny woman. But I am alot healthier and I am back to where I got after surgery.. I started at over 320 pounds and had surgery at 54 years old. I am now 64, and back to where I am comfortable. My new goal is to maintain the weight loss, and maybe lose another 5 pounds this next 12 months or so.... but I am very happy with myself. You can do it. One cookie not eaten at a time !!!

20 pounds in one week is a lot for the body to adjust to. Did you lose weight prior to surgery also? Your body takes time to figure this out.
I was a slow loser. I tracked 100% of what I ate and was 100% honest with myself. I knew when I saw small fluctuations in my weight it wasn’t “weight gain” I was eating 500-700 calories a day . I stayed sane by reframing it. I’d tell myself, I weigh more today, I know I didn’t “gain weight”. It worked for me and it is true. Nobody gains weight eating that small amount. Salt, hydration, sleep, bathroom habits, stress and a lot of things factor into what the scale says any given day. I always joked that today must be a bad gravity day. It’s the overall trajectory that counts.
I also didn’t write the slight fluctuations down because I’d get frustrated. I would wait until a morning when I felt like I lost weight and hop on then.

It's nice to know that it's not only me. I am tracking my calories and eating around the same amount as you and walking daily. My surgeon said I am able to start doing strength training tomorrow, so I plan to start doing that too. The thing I have the biggest issue with is my Water intake. I was bad with getting in enough water before surgery as well, so it's a work in progress. I hope we both start losing lots again soon! 💗

I have had the same issue. I lost 20 pounds in the first week after surgery, then after that I was just gaining and losing the same 5 pounds...then 3 pounds and now I'm just stalled. 24 pounds down for month 1. I am just now entering my second month and I log everything I eat and drink. I usually net about 400-600 cals a day. I started just walking a mile or 2 after dinner and it seemed to help, also I was not drinking enough Water, so I've been making it a point to just keep a 40 oz bottle on hand and sip all day, and refill once more and sip all evening.

I've been in this gain/loss/stall since Oct. 5th actually. But the inches are definitely coming off! Log everything, and eventually it will break the stall I think! I'm telling myself that everyday at least.

It could also be a stall - extremely common - except for the weight gain issue. Stalls usually start in week 3 but can start earlier or later & can last for 1 to 3 weeks. I liked to think of them as my body taking a breath to catch up with all the changes - the surgery, reduced caloric intake, change of diet, change of activity levels...
You’ll experience these along your journey. Some say increasing or decreasing your caloric intake or activity level will kick start your weight loss again. I just stuck to my plan & the weight would start to drop again.
If you’re keeping to your plan, weighing/measuring your food, logging what you’re eating & drinking, making healthy food choices you’ll lose weight.
    Good luck.

First 9 days I lost 20 pounds too, then I stopped. I was not gaining but not losing either. The doc said my body is in starvation mode as well, but if that's true then you are not eating enough or not eating the right food lol. That's why your body is storing more; if you're ever going to take carbs make sure it's in liquid form and not much. Chew your food as much as possible. Be conscious of what you eat, dont wait to get filled up. Dont go back to the same routine and add in a few walks, here and there. Good luck

Considering your surgery date I'm guessing you're likely in the three week stall. It's VERY common! Also, during stalls weight can go up a bit by a pound or three and bounce back and forth before your weight loss kicks back in. Just my own experiance anyway... my longest stall was 27 days. I also had one that lasted 23 days. Your body sometimes takes a while to get used to the changes and will stall you on occasion. I've had so many stalls I lost count... but, I've still lost 106 pounds in the 9 months since my surgery so you do get past it. Just continue eating like you're supposed to and try not to stress yourself out about it (almost impossible, I know)

My surgery was 3 weeks tomorrow and one of my incisions hasn't healed yet either. It was bleeding and oozing on my 10 day check-up and Doctor re-dressed & said don't worry. But it was still bleeding after some days so I went to my GP surgery (family doctor) and the nurse there is now "packing" it & re-dressing it twice a week. The "packing" involves sticking something into the unhealed wound which will help it heal apparently. Maybe get your family doctor or nurse to take a look at it?

hi everyone - Three weeks out. Yesterday one one of my incisions started oozing yellow. I had a small green spot on the scab as of last week. I messaged my care team. I have a feeling it is infected. It looked wonky since the start and they told me at my last appt it looked fine. All my others are nearly gone now. Still dealing with the seriously itchy welts from the Lovonox allergy. They have not gone away or gotten smaller. I have one 2-4 inches in diameter every place I injected for the first two weeks. Literally covered in then. Between weeks 2-3 I only lost half a pound (I only weighed Sunday). Either the stall came early, or all the Benadryl and swelling from my rash is keeping me from loosing (Benadryl can cause weight gain when taken over time, and I was taking it 3-4x per day for a week). Pretty down about everything. I feel like I am missing a chance for major weight loss and just ridiculously uncomfortable.

Tried to have 4 strawberries for Breakfast this morning, but i don't think it agreed with me. Not long after i was vomiting white foam 🤢
I felt better about an hour or so later. Maybe it was too soon? I'm almost 3wks out of mini bypass surgery.
Anyone else had this? I'm one of those people who absolutely refuses to throw up and will fight it to the end.

Struggling to find things to eat at 10 weeks out from RNY. chicken and beef make me so sick I just have horrible pain and throw up over and over. I am eating greek yogart, snow crab legs and some Soups .. green pea and barley. I eat salad with diet dressing and peeled green apples. I snack on chick peas, soy Beans and small pretzel sticks. If I try to drink Protein Drinks it makes me sick and I struggle drinking anything but herbal tea. Anyone know if it will change in the future? Are you able to ever drink and not sip Water? Are you ever able to eat normal meat again?
Wondering if it gets better .... is it that i don't chewy enough ?

Foggy for sure! I was drained/dazed on the pre diet and the 2 week post liquid as well. Purées is when I gained clarity and energy. Soft foods felt like rebirth.
    Hang in there.

I have kept most of my old clothes over the years and many different sizes, so I still have some things I can wear, even after losing 59 lbs. I did break down last week and bought some workout gear on Walmart.com, since I'm working from home and sweats are my daily uniform. I'm wearing XL shirts now and simply refuse to grab the XXL shirts, even if I only have a few to choose from.

I'm down 25pds and went from a sz 16 to 12. Thankfully I had saved old clothing from my "skinny" days. I spend most of my work days at home in leggings though so I don't think that my size in those will change for awhile.

I can't wear my size 8 jeans anymore!! They're too big. I had been getting away with wearing them at times but they're falling off of me now. I am in a size 4 but my size 6's still work too... FWIW, I wear American Eagle jeans only. Their sizes seems to be consistent across all different jean types. Size 4s are tight but loosen up & fit good..
I haven't lost any more weight, but I have lost an inch and a half in my waist.. an inch in my hips and an inch in my bust.

wear them as long as you can, and then pick up some items from second hand stores or the cheap sale racks at Walmart. You are going to drop at least a size every month, so spend as little as you can,
Fortunately for me, the hospital provides the scrubs I wear at work, so I never had to buy work clothes. Sure was fun to watch the sizes drop from XXL to SMALL!!!!!!!!!!
It's a great time to rethink your final wardrobe - like what color palette you would like. I often bought large clothes just because they fit - not necessarily because they went with anything else I had. It was so fun to get rid of the color catastrophe and choose pieces that complemented each other. Makes my closet smaller and much more coordinated.

Just remember it’s a process and not a quick fix. Nervous is to be expected in any surgery, but it will be over before you know it. Due to a couple hernias mine was 2.5 hrs but it felt like a minute. Recovery takes time but all things do. Take it slow and focus on the goal.

I was supposed to have my gastric sleeve in May, but this pandemic forced me to wait longer. I had my surgery this past Friday (10/23), and so far, it hasn’t been a walk in the park. I have my good moments, but there’s times when I have really bad internal pain due to gas movement, as well as pain in one of my incision sights. I wish I could zoom through this moment so that I could feel better 😭
