  1. Hi Kozyjozie! Of course you’d have to consult with a doc to see if you are a good candidate for revision but I was the same as you. I regained almost all of my weight after having a child. I chose a revision to DS versus RNY since VSG is the first step of a DS surgery. So when I was revised, they didn’t touch my tummy, just completed the intestinal procedure. Please note that far less data is available on revisions, so the outcome may not be as significant as you’d like it to be. I am losing less than I did with my original procedure but I am losing much more than I would have on my own. I suggest before you even jump down the rabbit hole to really figure out why you regained. And come to terms with the excuses, so you won’t repeat. I got therapy as well. Hope that helps!

Post op day 11: Revn from Sleeve to DS. Bad glue reaction spread but I think it is thinking about turning a corner. Eating Greek yogurt (key lime chibani and oikos), lean shakes, blended Soups like Tomato, broccoli cheese and lentils. Still drinking pedialyte mixed with Water. The reason is because I am finding it difficult to stay on top of my fluids at work so I want to make sure I don’t get dehydrated. That is an issue I need to take on next week. Next food stage cooking is mushy foods in a couple days. liquids, I will miss ya but not that much!

    Onward.

So good to hear your updates! Glad you’re managing work okay! Liquids was the worst. Once I started being able to eat, the heartburn got much better. Rarely is it an issue now. My doc sped along my food reintroductions since he said it was designed for people who had healing stomach lines, not for restriction. So now I’m at soft solids. So I pretty much eat anything soft, no breads Pasta rice etc or processed foods. I’ll live here a while. Down 20lbs. I make a nice Protein smoothie and then usually have one meal. No major hunger in between. If I snack, it’s something like yogurt.

  3. I just had the sleeve to ds revision a week ago and it was amazingly better than my original sleeve recovery. All major pain was gone in about 3 days and I was going for walks day 5. I think it’s a case by case thing. I do have to sleep propped up by pillows but it’s because of this darn acid reflux. That’s probably the worst part but totally manageable with Pepcid. Good luck guys!

Yay @gottabeblair so happy. Sounds like you had a super smooth procedure. Sorry about the reflux but hopefully will subside! Curious if you are having any bathroom issues with it? How much do you want to lose with his revision?

I did a one week preop, pretty easy. I think I lost about 5. Surgery early tomorrow morning. Hopefully with a nice easy recovery!

Good luck today! Wishing you a great surgery and an amazing post-op! The reflux seems to be a thing when I don’t sleep slightly inclined. The dr said it would subside over time but told me to get Pepcid complete chewable... LIFESAVER. I take one if it happens and it knocks it out immediately but it hasn’t been much of a thing the last few days.

No bathroom issues yet... first poop (sorry lol) was last night and it was fine. Not real gassy or anything like that. But I haven’t eaten anything solid yet so only time will tell lol.

I can already tell weight loss is slower this go round, because I kept a good chart with the VSG. By now I had lost 11 lbs and now I’m at 6, excluding the 11lbs all the hospital IV fluids put on me. Realistically, revision alone I expect maybe 75-100. With my trainer I hope to lose 150. I’m much more motivated to exercise now because I’m not doing this again. Whew, no way! I’ve already started back walking up to 20 mins approved by my doctor.

Please give us an update when you can!

  5. Hey everyone... just checking in. I had my revision to DS Loop on 9/29. It wasn’t nearly as painful as my original VSG with hiatal hernia repair. My abdomen is sore of course but I’m able to walk, shower, bend somewhat... without major pain. I was released 9/30 afternoon. I had to go solo due to Covid but they let my husband stay with me in the lobby and in the next room up until I had to get IVs and be wheeled off. So that was nice. Because after that was anesthesia, surgery and morphine so it wouldn’t have mattered if he were there or not lol. I slept a lot. I’m at home recovering nicely. My tummy does feel a little weird, like something got shifted. But the only pain I feel are the incision marks. I do have a on again off again headache. And the acid reflux is new. I didn’t have this before and I am praying it goes away because it is painful. Acid just comes up sometimes and it burns. My doc said it should subside as the swelling goes down. They didn’t touch my sleeve. So I’m able to drink and gulp and it not hurt my tummy but it does feel weird so I limit it to small sips only. I do have to follow the usual post-op diet but I didn’t have to do the pre-op diet. It was optional for me but I did it anyway so I could lose and I lost about 10 lbs. I’ll try to keep you all updated and respond to any questions. Thanks for your support!

Update: I got my date for the DS revision, coming up in 2 weeks.

I have only 1 week of pre diet this time around. Anyone else?

Mine is Tuesday. VSG to DS. I wasn’t required to do the liquid pre-op diet but I did it anyway. I’m on the clear 2day now. I’ll provide updates when I can. Nervous about being solo in the hospital but I’m with the same practice as before, so not as nervous about the actual procedure.

  7. Getting pregnant so soon after surgery is one of the reason I’m having to get a revision now. If I had to do it all again, I’d have the child then the surgery unless it was dangerous for me to do so. Having a baby really changes your diet, body, and limits the time truly needed to dedicate yourself to a healthier you in the beginning. If you have the surgery first, I would wait at least 3-4 years before having a child.
