Next fill 2 wks away and I'm hungry!

I feel much encouraged reading these posts. i was banded 17/6/08 and have lost around 14 kilos, but lost 12 of those in the 1st 3 weeks. i am exercising 4-5 hours a week and seem to be losing in measurements but not on the scales. I can no longer wear my favourite pair of jeans as even with a belt they are too baggy round the butt. have had to buy another pair 2 sizes smaller, so need to celebrate that. have found myself feeling stressed about not seeming to lose on the scales(where we seem to obsess over) and starting to pick and feel hungrier. I am going for second fill on Tues so can't wait for some more restriction
  5. I can't believe how smoothly the whole process has been for me. My surgery was on 17.06.08 in New Zealand. I didn't have to be in hospital until 2.30pm so was a bit of a long wait. After completing pre-op tests i was shown my room and changed into the sexy gown they put you in then waited until 5pm when I was wheeled to theatre. The surgeon had been called away on an emergency so had to wait til he returned at 5.30pm. Woke up again just before 8pm in recovery. Apparently I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I was so relieved to get through it I guess. My sister and neice were waiting in my room which was cool. Was pretty out of it that night. felt very comfortable all night. woke up at 4am feeling really rested and just read and dozed and watched tv til around 7am with a nurse popping in and out to do what she needed to. The surgeon and anesthetist popped in in the morning and both said the surgery went extra well although apparently I woke up on the operating table which they thought I may have been aware of, but nope. My sister picked me up about 10am and off home I went. Have had times of being just uncomfortable but no real problems and have lost 13kgs so far. Wahoo Wahoo.
  6. Hi, it certainly is a big decision to make. For myself I was worried about the risks of surgery and decided to go for the lap-band as it was the least invasive procedure and many people have had great success with it. I had the surgery on last Tues and am making a speedy recovery. I have felt a bit uncomfortable at times but have felt very little pain. Although it is early days, I am rapt with the decision I made. Best of luck. I am sure you will make the decision best for you. Look forward to hearing how you get on.
  7. Hi, I am new to this site and will be having my lap-band surgery tomorrow in Hawkes' Bay, New Zealand. I have been reading this site for months now and have been greatly encouraged by everybody who has taken this step to a happier, healthier life. I am a bit nervous about the surgery but try to look past that and look towards a better lifestyle. 4th June - meeting with surgeon who advised surgery on 17th of June.(slight panic) 13.06.08 - meeting with anethatist(can't spell that one sorry) I have had a slight sore throat for a few days so have been worried i may not be able to have surgery, but dr assured me on friday as long as it doesn't go to my chest I should be ok. Pleased to be part of this group and will post again after op
