  1. Happy 38th Birthday angel95812!

  2. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary angel95812!

  3. Hi Diva, I was just banded on 7/23/08 and you just mentioned everything I been going through perfectly. I still have not been able to lay in my bed yet. I have been sleeping sitting up because I tried to lay on my bed and had the toughest time getting back out. I am with you about the coughing, sneezing, and worst of all laughing. I made the mistake of watching Chris Tucker in a moving and paid the price when he had me laughing out of control. The one thing that has worked great for me has been the walking. Once I start feeling pains I get up and go for a walk and the pains just seem to get better. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. Take care Diva

    Where can i get one...

HI, I got my discount card from my doctor. I have not had a chance to use it yet but a few friends of mine who have already been banded use them all the time and most restaurants here in the Tampa area are pretty good about allowing ordering off kids menu or discounted smaller portions of a adult meal.

    vitamins

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a liquid Vitamin w/iron. I have had no luck finding one and I really am not doing well with the chewables. I think they taste like chalk. I tried walmart chewables, Flinstones and a few others and I truly do not like them. I know Vitamins are an important part of our diets and need to find something fast as my surgery date is fast approaching. Please help!
  7. My surgery is coming up on July 23rd and I have been juggling the thought of taking a few before pictures then every month do follow up photos to see my progress. Do you see this a good tool to motivate myself ? Please give me your thoughts it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. Hi all, I went to my pre-op appointment on July 8th and got the run down of everything to expect and make sure I am ready for the procedure. One thing that was brought to my attention was the fact the I would have to take inject myself with a blood thinner called Lovenox. It kind of freaked me out. I an not afraid of needles because I give blood all the time to the Florida blood bank but that is someone else sticking it in me. Now I am having to inject my self with a fluid and I am honestly a bit nervous about that. Has anyone else had to do this? I will do what ever I need to because I am ready to change. Also any tips on best way to inject? I was shown a picture on how to do it but there may be some tips that may make this a bit easier for me.

    Heartbroken...

Hi Amanda, Please keep you head up and move along with your journey. Nothing can stop you but yourself. From reading here I think I might be the only male to respond at this time. I agree with OH Juli comment about your husband. As a man I have to admit we are not the best at showing our true feelings about things. I am sure your husband is behind you and very concerned about you in everyway. I wonder if he is struggling with the thought of life changing once you lose all kinds of weight. Reason I bring this up is because I am getting ready to be banded on July 23rd and my wife was behind me and said she supported me but there seemed to be something bothering her. Finally it came time to schedule my pre op which is July 8th and she happened to make the appointment for me. Since the day my wife set my pre op appointment she started getting cranky and angry with anything I did. Being a guy my response was what the heck got into her and totally turnd my head to what she was doing. One day last week it all came out and boy did it catch me off guard. My wife broke down in to tears and let it all out. She has a fear of me losing weight and losing me when all is said and done. Even though this if far from the truth because she is my life my love my Queen. I explained to her that I need her by my side and need her support during this drastic change. Im sorry for rambling on I guess what I mean to say is this journey is going to be a huge change not just for you but your husband as well. Some people fear change because they love us just the way we are and think once were thin and confident that we will change as a person. As for me I will always remember who I am and what I was which is fat. I want to be a support to anyone who is looking for support to win this weight loss battle we all face. Please give you husband the chance to open up to you because in his mind you are as perfect as they come and he probably doesnt understand why you want the change so bad. Best wishes Angel :biggrin2:

    Thinking of cancelling surgery

Hi noahsmomm, I am scheduled for surgery on July 23rd and can not wait. I have actually have actually seen a lot of encouraging things oppose to negative things about the lap band. I too have seen several posting with not so pretty things being said but overall I see a lot more positive or praise about the lap band and how it has changed lives. You are taking a chance when you get the lap band but you also are taking a chance if you don't get it. I come to a point in my life where it came down to do something about my weight or chances are something serious can possibly be in my near future. Make a list of pros & cons about getting the lap band and living your life the way things are now. I did and Lap band is my choice. Bottom line is how bad do you want to change and do you have the desire for to take the weight loss journey via the lap band. Think it out. Wishing you best on your decision.
  11. So how are things going??

Why am I keeping it Quiet???

Hi, For what it is worth I truly believe you did a good thing when you prayed about your issue. As a person of faith I pray about things daily. As a overweight person my entire life I understand the whole tired of being fat thing believe me. Just like you I have tried many things to lose weight and have actually had some great results but would always get back what I lost and more. I too have had family members and friends make comments about what I need to do but you know what? I am going to do what I believe is right for me and not let anyones negative comments effect my decision. Regular exercise and dieting may be work for some people but not everyone. It sounds like your friend does not want to deal with her issues so by keeping you the same it makes her feel ok with the way she is. Only you can make the decision to be successful or not. Again just keep positive and keep praying. Let me leave you with this Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

    how long for BCBS approval?

Hi Kim, I have BCBS of Georgia and they were fairly quick in approving my surgery. My weight loss center did have me do somewhat of a monitored diet for a short time and a few test that some BCBS require but it may depend on the policy. I am looking forward to my surgery on 6/23/08. I wish you the best of luck.
  14. Hello Everyone, This is my second post since joining and I got to say it is amazing how much info is avail with in the lap band community. After getting dates bumped around on me a few times I actually have my surgery set for July 23rd. I know of two other people who have had the lap band process done with in the last couple of weeks by the same Doctor I am using. One of the two had been glued with some type of adhesive and the incision looked a lot better then the person who had her incisions closed with sutures. Can anyone please comment on their experience with the gluing? I am also open to any comments about gluing vs sutures because I would have to say again that the persons incision with the glue looked like it would look better once healed. Please give me your thoughts:confused:
