I AM NEVER USING THIS SITE AGAIN!!!!!! I HAVE LEFT SEVERAL THREADS OF HOW EXCITED AND NERVOUS I AM. Went to dr. on wednesday and I am scheduled for surgery next Week April 8th. The Dr has me on a liquid vegetable diet until surgery. I am so excited!!!!!!!. can anyone tell me what to expect the day after surgery? Is there alot of pain. :)Erin

I am so excited. It took about a week for insurance to give me approval this Tuesday!!!! I am now meeting Dr. Mekura on 3/31 and apparently two to three weeks later I can have surgery.....I'm finally going to get my life back. has anyone had surgery by Dr. mekura? Does he really make you do 2 weeks on liquids? Sleepless and excited Erin

:eek:Hey everyone! Finally pepole from places I know. I am a Staten Islander who just faxed all my paper work to Dr. Mekura at Memomidies in Brooklyn. I am finished with all my dr. visits and pretesting, just waiting to see what GHI say. They denied me in the summer because I didn't have 6 months of progress notes. Now I've given them everything they need and I am hoping they respond quickly. Has anyone had lapband and done through GHI ? How long did you wait for approval and then time line till surgery? I am so excited and nervous......... I don't know how to put all the symboyls and stuff yet. The week I was handing in all my paperwork I was in the ER with diverticulitis reall bad (first time). I'm freaking because the medicine is giving me diareah and I'm losing weight cause nothing is staying in my stomach. I hope its not a problem. I'm having a colonoscopy on the 27th. Keep fingers crossed I can have this surgery.:crying::scared2:

Hi gang. Lovn the feedback and inspiration. i can't believe I am so close to being done with dr. visits to get approval. I go monday and then again the 9th of March. I hope my insurance covers this. I am planning my life as if it will becaue of all my medical issues and for now having sleep apnea. I am planning ther rest of my helathy life; the way my life used to be and what I am going to do to keep it from happening again!!!!!!! My kids never knew the real me only the fat mom. They never saw me run and play and get down on the floor and get back up without rolling to my knees and holding onto something.!!!!!My husband will be able to hold me and "I" will feel confiddent that he really loves me for who I am and I will love "myself" again. The only big bite I'll Iver take is out of that nasty tasting word OBESITY!!!!!!!! (Gog I hope I get approved) ALL MY PRETESTING IS DONE Erin:eek:

:blush:This is my second time trying to go throught the steps to get approved for surgery. the first time my Dr. never wrote progress notes so the insurance company denied. I have 2 months ( Feb 9 & March 9) left of Dr. visits and then I'm done. I didn't lose more than 3 ibs the entire time. This time around we found I have sleep apnea and that will help me get approved.(I hope). I'm getting really nervous about being approved and can't wait to make the change to getting my life back. My insurance is GHI and I'm a NYC employee. Has anyone been approved by GHI? I have had my psychological, stress test, sleep test, scope done ( I have a hernia that will be fixed when the port is put in), 6 month dr visit, nutritionist, chest xray, venus dobler and blood test, all done. Does it hurt after having the surgery? Are you in a lot of pain?

I'M SO CLOSE TO GETTING THIS DONE LIKE NEXT MONTH. I HAVE ALL MY DR SAYING AT 38 ,I REQUIRE A TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENTAND IF I DONT LOSE WEIGHT LIKE SOON I'LL NEED THAT SURGERY LIKE NOW. i'M HOPING ALL THESE LETTERS AND PHONE CALLS WILL BE OK FOR GHI. HAS ANYONE USED GHI AND HAD A PROBLEM WITH REQUIREMENT FOR APPROVAL. MY FAMILY DR SAID TO PUT IT IN ANYWAY AND HE WILL CALL GHI IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. I WENT TO THE DR WITH MY FRIEND AND THE NURSE WAS TELLING US SHE HAD THE LAPBAND DONE AND LOST 115LBS IN TWO YEARS AND THAT IT WAS THE BEST THING SHE EVER DID. I CALLED MY HUSBAND FROM THAT DR.'S OFFICE AND SAID i'M DOING THE SURGERY! BY THE NEXT DAY I HAD CALLED MY DR AND MADE THE APPTS FOR THIS WEEK TO SEE ALL THE SPECIALISTS. IM HAVING MY SURGERY AT MAIMOMIDIES AND THEY SAID IF I HAVE ALL MY PAPERS I CAN GO AS SOON AS EARLY AUGUST!!!! THANK GOD MY DR HAS BEEN KEEPING RECORDS ON ME AND MY WEIGHT LOSS FOR THE PAST YEAR. I AM READING THESE POSTS AND I AM GETTING SO MOTIVATED, I AM READY TO CHANGE MY LIFE AND I KNOW IT WON'T BE EASY BUT THIS SITE WILL DEFINATELY HELP. I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON MY SURGERY DATE.
