    That much closer...

I'm not sure who is requiring it. They have asked for more testing. Ugh

    SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAYS

Happy Birthday! Mine was the 5th. Daughters was the 10th.
  5. to meet with the nutritionist and behavioral analyst before having a consultation with the surgeon? I feel like I'm having to earn a visit with him like he's the Wizzard of Oz or something. I was told that after I have satisfied the nutritionist and behavioral person, I would then be scheduled to meet with the surgeon. Does this sound right?
  6. Update So I heard back, and it would be another 6 weeks to meet with the surgeon. They wanted follow ups with the nutritionist before meeting with him. That is just unacceptable for my needs. Im going to, and have been doing do my part, but I dont understand not being able to at least meet and question the guy who will be performing the surgery. I started fresh with a different facility, and am so far, very happy. I met with the surgeon yesterday and before the day was over, all of my pre op appointments were made, minus a sleep study. I felt great after speaking with my new "team" and am very excited again.

    Chinese food

Shrimp and broccoli. I feel your pain. I hope my chinese place doesn't close until I'm dead.
  8. Yep, one of my my concerns. Thanks for posting. If my next appointment is not with the surgeon, I may start making calls.
  9. Yep. I get it. I've been tracking food and am making the required changes. My concern is jumping through all of the hoops and not feeling comfortable with the surgeon, and having to start again with another facility. I just don't like the template they follow. That said, I'm all in.
  10. Thanks for your reply. I honestly wasn't sure. Both meetings went well, and I am getting anxious I guess. The appointments were yesterday morning, back to back, so I hope to hear something soon.

    What else to expect?

so I'm 52 in a couple of weeks. I have decided on a sleeve and will meet with a nutritionists and behavioral person next week. I'm 5' 7" and weigh in at 280. Like many, I can lose weight, but it always comes back. Since quitting smoking, three years ago, it has become difficult, and I now have an additional 30 lbs that I didn't have when I smoked. So besides my d**k making a reappearance, losing weight, having loose skin, feeling better, what were some things that happened, that you didn't expect? Good and more importantly, bad. Thanks, Joe

    What else to expect?

Thanks for taking the time to post. I am worried about several of the things you are experiencing. I'm glad, overall your health has improved. The reward has to be better than the alternative for this to work for me.

    BCBS Illinois

So I'm told no 6 month requirement. I have appointments with the nutritionist and behavioral person on the 25th. The clock is now ticking, and I could have surgery in as soon as two months. I'll continue to update.
  14. Yep. I'm doing it. I'm terrified of the first few weeks, post surgery. But, at 52,(in a couple of weeks) and after literally dieting for 40 years, I know this is my only chance. I just can't keep it off.
  15. I got the insurance verified call yesterday and set up appointments with a nutritionist and behavioral person. **** just got real and I'm terrified. But, I'm more terrified of having a heart attack while chasing my grandson around.

    BCBS Illinois

So I did get good news I think. My local hospital has become a BCBS center of excellence and I already got the ball rolling. The surgeon I've been waiting for is an hour and a half away. So glad I may be doing this 20 minutes from home and near my primary care doctor. Also, according to the insurance rep and the nurse who called from the hospital, BCBS had done away with the supervised 6 months, in many of their policies. I'm told if everything goes well, I could have this done in two to three months. I'll will update this thread as I know more for any who may be interested.

Thanks for the reply. Yea I'm getting mixed answers so lll have to just wait and see. I've looked at my policy and don't see anything about six months, but I could be missing something. I just hope to hear from the surgeons office soon. It's been about a month. Thanks again!
