Howdy everyone, hope all the July gang are doing well. I too have learned not to eat more than 4oz at a time and absolutely no sugar or dumping will be in your future. I am 13 weeks post op and down 72 lbs since preop. I have not felt this great in a long long time. Y'all keep smiling and keep your eye on the prize.

Well today is hospital release day, I had a horrible day yesterday due to nurse mixup. They have me a juice cup with apple juice that had sugar. I took one sip and knew this was wrong. Within 20 minutes I had dumping Syndrome. 5 hours of running to toilet and shivers. Good lesson to learn. Feel great today. Still bloated but feeling fine. Keep smiling you are worth it.

Well surgery was yesterday now. Gas pain manageable. My nervousness has turn to excitement for the future. Time to put me first. Keep smiling everyone, you are worth the effort.

Going to the hospital this morning for my Gastric Bypass. Excited and nervous but so happy to start this new journey in my life.

My Surgery is on the 15th, I have only told one person. Maybe later I might share, but this is my journey and I do not like sharing my success with anybody. I might later, but not now.

After discussing it with Doc, I am getting the bypass surgery, no reflux issues.

Good luck, I go next week. Keep smiling, it’s the start of a new journey.

I heard of all the cancellations and got worried, but have been assured by my surgeon that I am good to go. He stated he was fixing a hernia at the same time as the Gastric Bypass, so I won't be cancelled. 11 more days till surgery, getting excited to start this journey. The Pre-Op is not so bad when I think about it one day at a time and make the decision everyday to stay on track. Good luck to all. Keep Smiling.

Thanks. I have now told one person and they were super supportive and only asked what I needed to help through the journey. Looking forward to the surgery. Keep smiling.

Thank you, your post was fantastic, so I did it. I told one person I have known for 30 years, she has seen me through my divorce, offering to babysit many times and always listened when I needed to vent. Well the first thing she said was “good for you, is there anything you need”. If felt like such a weight lifted. Thank you for your post. Keep smiling.

Thanks, that makes sense, I will have to decide when I am ready. I still am very proud of myself for making the commitment. Keep smiling, I surely do thinking of the future.

Great post, I was not so lucky with insurance. I am self pay, but digging into my savings is totally worth it. See ya on the bench, too.

I am lucky that my kids moved out, savings lots. I have just started the process and I don’t start the pre op diet till July 1st and am saving for the added costs of getting the foods listed on my dieticians diet plan. I am just, like you, trying to figure out the diet when I finally make it to solid food again. Keep smiling, you will find a way. I have just started exploring this site and find it very informative so far. So hopefully I will find good alternatives for more expensive items.

I think if asked initially, I will say hernia. I have been alone since getting custody of my kids. Haven’t seen my family in years so when I do, I will just say diet. Now when I visit my kids, then I might have to talk about it. Keep smiling.

You going the whole enchilada route, good luck. I hope the pre op diet isn’t too bad. Keep smiling.

I am newly retired and was a single dad. My kids have graduated from college and the last one moved out in March. I then realized that my weight is preventing me from enjoying the empty nest. I have not told a soul about the surgery, family or friends. I am not sure if I want to share with them yet. I was wondering how y'all approached that decision. Did anyone do the same as me so far. I kind of think I want to keep this mine and my own achievement.

Great post, love your enthusiasm

Well I had my doctor's visit yesterday and I am doing great, my HW was 330 on May 30th and my Surgery was 7-15-20. I am down to 243, but the biggest change was my A1C went from 6.0 to 4.4 and my doc was very happy with that. Y'all keep smiling and focused on your goal.
