  1. It is true that diet plans are so different! One guy in my group of July 2020 sleevers didn't have solid food for months after surgery! He reached goal very quickly, but NO food! UGH! My doctor's plan seems to be fairly normal and although I'm losing pretty slowly (I have 19 pounds to go to be the lowest I have been in 25 years), I am happy with my plan. I don't think it has anything to do with where the surgeon is from, it's probably more how conservative they are or how quickly they want you to be successful. I am personally a "slow and steady wins the race" vs. "speed to the finish line"...although I may have to change things up to get these last 20 pounds off!!

  2. Yes, it sounds like you have psyched yourself out of eating...bordering on an eating disorder. Forget about volume and eat a healthy diet that includes Protein, some veggies, some complex carbs. If you can find a therapist or bariatric team to give you guidance, please do. Are you at goal, close to goal? If so, it is even more important to focus on being healthy and rebuilding your energy and zest for life.

    PLEASE take care of yourself!!

  3. I think at this point, you need to develop a more common sense approach to this. It sounds like you know what you should not be eating and need to focus on what you can eat and track that as accurately as possible. I am attaching my Boot Camp document again...which in the final stage says to eat three 4 oz high Protein meals, plus two servings of vegetables, two servings of fruit and three servings of complex carbs. Get a tracker like My Fitness Pal and track your intake. I do NOT think you need to "smoosh" things into a measuring cup, you should be able to "eyeball" a cup or quarter cup of food, or weigh it.

Good luck and I hope you can find something that works for you!

  4. Don't discount the stomach acid...that was what it was for me. I NEVER got acid indigestion before or immediately after surgery, so I thought "Why bother?" But when I was feeling hungry after surgery, my nutritionist told me to take it (I had a prescription for Omneprazole(sp?)) and it completely eliminated my hunger. Give it a try!

  5. I believe that's called "foamies" and I have had it a couple of times. It will pass, and (hopefully) teach you a lesson! As you get further in, you will begin to recognize your "full" cues and stop before you get there. I have said this before, but my dog has gained about 15 pounds to keep me from having "one last bite" or thinking "this little bit shouldn't go to waste". Once I get the signal that I am full...down on the floor it goes!

  6. My sister has always been overweight...I have been overweight for the last 15 years (or so). She is on a diet (Dr. Livinggood) and told me that she had told a friend NOT to get the surgery because it would change her relationship with food FOREVER. I told her "That's kind of the point...even with the program YOU are on". But I will say this, I do not regret it at all! (I DO however, regret the Reeses' Peanut Butter Egg that I just ate...but only to the extent I would have regretted it BEFORE surgery! LOL) I echo those that said wait until you are sure...but I wish I had thought about doing this 10 years ago!

  7. Hello! I am so there! Down 73 pounds...stuck at 70-73 pounds for the last few weeks...trying to break through and get to One-derland! LOL I just got my first vaccine and as soon as I feel "safe" I WILL be going to the gym and I HOPE that will be what it takes to get me to goal. I totally understand what you mean about being happy...I mean, I haven't been this low since I had my baby...25 years ago! I've dropped a couple of sizes...even my feet have shrunk! Everyone tells me how great I look! But I don't want to get complacent, and lose everything I've gained lost! Good luck and know that you are NOT alone!

  8. I also found that people would compliment me when I was in a stall...those that know (almost everyone in my life) would say that I am really losing, and I would think "I haven't lost weight in two weeks" and then I'd start losing again. I think your body needs time to "redistribute" or something, so clothes feel better, you look better, but you weigh the same. I try to focus on NSV's (Non-scale victories) during the stalls.

  9. I'm so sorry that you feel this way! I have been eating out fairly regularly since about 2 months out. Did it slow my weight loss? Possibly. But I am significantly happier! I went to a thing called magical dining in September, where it's a three course meal, twice, Once, I ordered salmon with a tuna appetizer (I know you don't like seafood, I love it as long as I don't have to cook it!) and the next time I ordered filet mignon and some sort of Soup. Both times, I ate about 1/2 of the appetizer, 1/3 of the Protein and a bite or two of the sides and then one bite of the dessert and then packed it in a doggy bag and brought it home to my son. If my son wasn't the sort to eat JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING, I would have eaten the leftovers over the next two days! I've had fajitas and refried Beans at a Mexican restaurant and a sashimi appetizer at a sushi restaurant. I haven't eaten Italian (too tempting, although I might order veal or chicken piccata, it I did!) I focus on eating the protein first and then take a bite or two of the sides. I ALWAYS look at the menu on line and figure out what I can eat and WANT to eat. Luckily, my family lets me lead the charge on where we go, so I can find somewhere that has something I want to eat.

So anyway, long post, but don't give up. Two months is still early and you should be able to enjoy food a bit sooner or later. I hope you can find that balance! Good luck.

  10. It does seem unfair, but if you do the test you might find that you are borderline sleep apnea-tic (?) and they will push it through. If not, and they don't go ahead and approve you, then I would contest it. I would never have thought I had sleep apnea, but my doctor said I did. My insurance doesn't cover WLS at all, so this was before I even considered it. Turns out...I could not sleep with a CPAP machine, so I gave it up quickly. I know I get a much better night's sleep without the 70 pounds that I have lost!

  11. Just this weekend my sister, who has really struggled with her weight and is on a good non-surgical path now, told me "I have a friend that wanted to get surgery and I told her not to because she would change her relationship with food FOREVER!". I bit my tongue and told her (as gently as I could) "That's kind of the idea. We have both changed our relationship with food...and if we want to keep it off, it has to be forever....as we've learned over and over again."

Good luck, I hope everything goes well! I have had zero complications and am SOOOO happy that I had this done!
