  1. Hello. I am due to get my surgery date assigned in a few days and I’m feeling really out of control with my eating. I’m not eating extremely large amounts but eating everything I think I won’t be able to have again. The things I am eating are Bagels, large onion rings and chocolate covered Cookies. I tell myself this is the last night and I will do better tomorrow’ but it starts again. The thing is I wasn’t eating like this before I decided to have surgery. Please tell me this panic eating will stop. Help!

  2. Fingers crossed for you! How do you like the Bariatastic app? Is it helpful?
I got a CPAP a few months ago, and while I hate it, I definitely do feel more rested in the morning. (That could also be the result of working from home and not setting an alarm since March!)
I like the app. It's suited for the job it needs to do. I did my sleep test last night and the machine said it was successful. I'm hoping it's not too bad. I am just waiting on the answers and then I can set a date.

  3. Hi there. I’m in the same boat. I’ve been using GNC Lean shakes and muscle milk powders. I’m struggling with sweets, mostly ice cream. I’ve started doing some strengthening exercises so that I don’t go into surgery in a weakened state. I took this time to get other things taken care of like overdue gyn visit and visit to the dermatologist for questionable skin changes. All has been good. I ordered my post op Vitamins already and some of the foods. Walmart has College Inn broth, large boxes of farina and they have good prices on Protein powders. Is there anything in particular you are concerned about?

  4. So I finally went to the pulmonary doctor and that is going to set me back a Few months. He thinks I have sleep apnea and I agree. I do want to have the machine if I need it. I’ve had issues with anesthesia in the past and I want to be able to come out of the anesthesia okay. However because it’s summer I am in my prime skin breakout season. I have painful cysts in my armpits and groin. I can’t wear anything too tight and forget taking a walk. I’m regretting not scheduling the pulmonary doctor first! I passed everything else. I’m doing okay with the overall prep situation. I’m keeping my calories within a limit. Making mostly good choices. Maybe it’s for the best that I am delayed a bit. I did buy an exercise step to do at home physical therapy. I have some issues with walking and balance. I use a walker for balance when I exercise so I don’t fall over. So I guess it’s all in the plan that I start my exercises first. My neurologist also did tell me to expect an increase in my tremors following the procedure. Just venting... Thanks for reading.

  5. That sounds like a wise decision. You are having breakthrough pain. Bring your full list of medication to the attention of the pain management doctor. You should also have a new gi workup. Could be something happening that is decreasing absorption. Another option is to cross reference your meds with your pharmacist to make sure you aren’t taking anything that impairs absorption.

  6. Wrap dresses and wrap skirts are your friends!
    (As are belts, lol).
Though, if you want to save some $$, maybe don't buy too many clothes during weight loss phase. At first I was all, yay, I can buy some smaller clothes! Then it became apparent that I would drop a size every 3-4 weeks and I couldn't wear my just purchased clothing. So that was a bummer.

I have not worn a dress in 29 years. I can't even imagine it at this point. Where do you suggest buying a wrap dress? I've never worn one.

I'm also short and fat. Recently, I've been buying all my pants at Old Navy. They actually have a wide variety of fits and fabrics, and I never have trouble finding P's there.

I just found out today that I will probably be scheduled for surgery in July so I dont want to put too much money out for clothes. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

i ended up using justmysize.com. I’m all set!

  8. Hello to the ladies. My question is to you. I have outgrown my pants during the quarantine and I need to find petite pants in a lightweight fabric online. I’m having such trouble locating anything good in the only stores open right now near me. I’m at least a 3 x and very wide in my hips. Can anyone make some suggestions so I have something to wear other than my pajamas for the summer? I would be very thankful for any advice or links to online stores. Thank you.

  9. I also have HS, and I’m hoping that the weight loss will offer some relief. I’m looking for people that have had positive skin changes after this surgery, too! I have some eczema and I can’t remember the name of the other term I have—it’s basically clogged hair follicles on the arms/legs that just look like red bumps everywhere. I forget the term.
    I think it's keratoses pilar
They usually prescribe lac-hydrin for it.

  10. Are you talking about the wet rashes and yeast infections in the folds and your neck? Yes, they smelled and burned, and they go away. The lumps are common for obese people. I used to get them on my tighs and my vagina. Large, painful ones. They also go away. Psoriasis will go away also.
My issue is with large bumps under the arm, under breast and in private area. I've had quite a few procedures over the years to drain them. The only other thing I have is at the top of my butt. I get redness and then the skin opens up like a fissure. It burns like hell. I think it's the butt cheeks rubbing together or something causing it. I hate it!

Congrats on your coming grand baby.

Why not get a co host? Is there another family member or close friend you can work with to organise & manage the shower? This will take some of the pressure & concerns off you.

I was a bit erratic with my recovery re general energy levels. I’d feel super fine for a couple of weeks & then my energy levels would drop for a few days or week or so.

Thank you on the congrats. The baby was my deciding factor in choosing to go through with Bariatric surgery. I want to be able to run after my grand baby! I ended up telling my daughter to have her best friend in charge with me as the secondary person. So it looks like that will be the case. :)

Ah, I have read some posts on here of people feeling tired months out...I guess you won't know if you will be Team-Tired until you get to that point? Though if you are worried, and want to hedge your bets, you could always let your daughter know your position so that an alternate host can be secured? Or maybe you could co-host?

P.S. I was/am part of Team NOT-Tired, despite the rapid weight loss. I had quite a bit of energy after the first couple weeks, more than I ever had in years (and still do actually)

I hope that happens for me. I am napping quite a bit during the day at the moment.
