    Pre-Op Diet & bloating?

Sorry I see now you are pre-op. I had similar issues before and used the same remedies except I limited my exercise to light leg raises and stretches. I wasn’t try to stir up my beast of an appetite

    Pre-Op Diet & bloating?

I’m 6 days out and I had the same first few days. It could be gas and you need to have a BM. What helped me was the following: Gas X chewables then walking. Yesterday I took Mirilax and it helped but almost too well. I nearly had an accident. I wouldn’t try to restrict sodium. What I suggest is to pick stock instead. It’s more calories which you need right now, lower sodium and some minerals that can help you feel better. I dropped two pounds today and I am smaller in my clothes by a little. I also found Zico no sugar added coconut water very easy to drink compared to water. I hope some of this might help you.

    Surgery done today

Day 6 after surgery. Tenderness is nearly gone. Standing up straight without difficulty. Finally went to the bathroom yesterday after taking mirilax. I’m walking well by myself and building up to thirty minutes. Problems- Gas build up. I’m drinking too fast which is part of my old habits. I took a shower last night after wrapping myself in Saran Wrap but it didn’t stick and one of the five small dressings got wet. I cleansed the area and covered with a large dry bandage. I’m drinking clears and premier protein shakes. My doctor also allowed me to have a medicine cup full of sugar free pudding made with Lactaid milk to take my medication. Tolerating well without vomiting or nausea. No dumping syndrome. Calories are still under 500 at this point but fluids are tolerated well. One warning, I took a sip of some cold water and it gave me a spasm in my belly. Cold Zico coconut water was tolerated better. Still using the 30 ml medicine cups to avoid overfilling my new stomach. Some mood issues and being snappy. Because I can’t eat junk I am “expressing myself” much more. Hubby is a bit taken aback but he needs to understand I can’t be passive anymore. It made me 125 pounds overweight.

    Surgery done today

Day 5 - I woke up today after a good nights sleep and went for a short walk. I’m feeling discomfort around the stomach area. I may have moved a bit too much yesterday. I even reached down to pick up my Yorkie by reflex. I weighed myself today but not a significant change since the 7th. I think I’m holding on to fluids plus I haven’t yet gone to the bathroom. I’m going to start colace tonight. Something unexpected I have is acne around my nose. I’m getting Saran Wrap today and taking a good shower. Been doing those bath cloth wipes but it is not enough. Switching from drinking plain water to Zico coconut water today to add more calories. Yesterday I had 43 grams of protein water, 20 oz of water for a total of 40 oz of water or so. Lots of bloating yesterday but it feels better this morning.

    Stating Pre-Op diet today

You can do it! My great trick was to drink water and then try to fall asleep before the hunger came back. Avoid smells of food if you can. I used Vicks vapor rub below my nose to block out the smell of food cooking.

    August 2020 Surgery

I had my procedure on August 7th. I felt good a first but then couldn’t pee. They put a catheter in me and drained over a liter of pee. I stayed two days totally and I’m doing the stage 1 diet. Got only 20 grams of protein yesterday but I am striving for double that today. I walked a lot in the hospital and walking at home too. Lots of gas bubbles! Not much pain at all. I’m not really hungry by my hubby just walked in with fast food and I can smell it. I swear they put something in the food to make it tempt you by smell alone. Regarding the procedure, It wasn’t as bad as I thought and it wasn’t as easy either if that makes sense.

Thank you I’m home now. I’m able to pee on my own again. I put a heating pad on warm on my stomach. It’s very soothing. Gonna try to get some real sleep now that I’m home.

    Surgery done today

I had a very bad night emotionally last night. Had such a bad anxiety attack they gave me an ativan to help me relax. I had fallen asleep in the geri chair but could not get down. While I was waiting I had this burp that scared the hell out of me. I could feel my insides moving. I started praying like crazy and thinking what have I done? The meds helped me fall asleep and my morning is better. Still not urinating on my own. May need a Foley to go home unless the try oxybutnin to relax my bladder. Is anyone else as disappointed...

My doctor said weight loss would be faster with Roux en Y than VSG. I might have gone with the sleeve because it is supposed to be safer but I am having issues with walking due to my weight. I suggest to the OP to take this time to pamper her skin by using a dry brush, cleaning shower after the and a apply cocoa butter to areas that tend to get loose skin. That's a regimen I used in the past when I lost 75 pounds by diet and exercise. The plastic surgeon I used for breast reduction said it made a big difference in my skin condition.( I will still need removal of outer thigh skin for sure.)You'll get there! Distract yourself in the meantime. Good luck to you! Sent from my SM-A102U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Out of surgery

I’m wondering if the RNY requires a longer stay. I think I would feel better staying the extra day anyway. Did they give you a test to see if there were no leaks?

    Out of surgery

I was told at least 2 days for rny. Anyone else stayed two days?

    Anyone for August 2020

I’m going in on Friday for the RNY. Had a few close calls but did not cheat on the prep. Water helped a lot. I would drink water then lay down and hope to fall asleep before I got hungry again. My labs came back slightly elevated for Bun - 23 and alanine - 71. Doctor said it’s from the fatty liver and excess protein. I increased my water by 32 oz to help flush the kidneys. All that’s left to do is pack an overnight bag.

  20. Hold your nose while drinking it. It will reduce your ability to taste it. Then before you let go of your nose you take a swig of water to clear the taste. Good luck. Sent from my SM-A102U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Laser treatment for hair loss

I have pcos and have used Biotin to combat hair loss. It worked well for me. I also took prescription strength omega fatty acids and they made my hair look very shiny. Sent from my SM-A102U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I will not miss the itch and rash on my lower back and at the top of my butt from sweating and friction no matter how I try to prevent it!
  23. Did anyone find themselves start to go back and forth between procedures before getting a surgery date? I find myself flip flopping between roux en y and gastric sleeve. At first I picked the sleeve but then I thought since it's the same prep I should go for the bypass since it gives better weight loss results. Now I'm thinking I don't want to be having malabsorption and the sleeve is fast to recover. Arggggg! Sent from my SM-A102U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Changing your mind

I ended up picking bypass after all. It helped to make a list of pro and cons for each procedure. For me it was the risk of reflux that made me choose the bypass.
