  4. I do NOT miss: - Boxy clothes. - My husband’s disappointed glances. Now he wants to touch me more all of a sudden :-). He never said anything out of line, but I don’t miss those occasional glances... - Inner thigh rashes and zits. - Hiding behind people in photos. - Only liking photos of me taken from the neck up. - Saving smaller clothing sizes for “one day”. Now I can actually wear them. - Pot lucks & buffets. Yeah... no thanks. An all-you-can-eat place would be a complete waste of money for me now, anyway. - Car seatbelts riding up around my neck. - The waddle my walk was developing. - Weak bladder control. I can “hold it” a lot longer now. As a result, I have less issues with odor after near misses. I know... TMI - Hot flashes. Somehow they have disappeared. Interesting.
  5. I agree. Don’t lie and promote false hope in a product or service that you know doesn’t help just because you are uncomfortable talking about WLS. You never know who your weight loss inspires, and sending someone down the wrong path intentionally is just wrong! I also feel that not everyone is entitled to know all details about my personal journey, so I am at peace with leaving it at, “I’m focusing more on my nutrition and fitness”. I know I inspired someone that I do not want to share with. I am sending her a food diary and teaching her how to log her intake.
  6. I told fewer than 10 close friends & family, and no co-workers. I didn’t even tell my teen who lives with me. She obviously knows I had surgery, but not the details. She sees my weight loss and notices I eat less, but none of it has “clicked” for her. I think it’s funny. One day when she is more mature I will tell her. I’ve been working from home since March, and one colleagues commented that my face looks slimmer on a video call. Explaining that I have more time to focus on nutrition, and fitness since I don’t commute 2-3 hours per day seems to satisfy any curiosity. I’ll save the comments specific to my surgery for the people whose opinions I value. I have to say, though... the people I have told have been supportive.

    Diabetes + 2 week pre-surgery diet

There are enough carb grams in your pre-op diet to meet your needs. Trust the process. Talk to your dietitian if you have any concerns. Lots of us are in the same situation. I felt perfectly fine, and now I’m 2 mos post-op.
  8. Yes! This happens to me often - like Thanksgiving dinner Tryptophan tired!  Smaller meals help. Sometimes I eat half of my tiny portion, then eat the other half an hour or so later. I also am getting away from dense foods like beef. This seems to help too.
  9. As long as you have help, if you need it, and you are stocked with fluids, nutrition, meds & supplies, I think you should be fine. My family was around, but I preferred to be left alone.
