The Binder is SCREAMING At Me! LOL!
tarotcardreader replied to LAJ23's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
People have denial to varying degrees here. Being fat is caused by what you choose to put in you mouth on a daily basis, its around 90% diet. We all have to take some self responsibility for our fatness. That said the font type is some minor detail the important part is that you really take it to heart. When designing the program bulleting items or bolding them helps many patients to know what is important. Older low vision people are also reading the same paperwork. Paperwork is not a chatroom where “one can yell” if you feel like the staff are yelling at you on other hand in person then find another program. Some have nicer staff! this is a major surgery. The surgeons probably try to keep their program as standard as possible incase of complication they will know the context (how the client was to be eating etc) if its all standard. Again if you don't like one surgeons rules there are many to choose from so that you can get one who has more similar ideas to how you want to live and behave after surgery -
I would get a second opinion something doesn’t seem right if they already operated to fix it once it may be beyond their skill level thats my 2c

Now the Doctor Thinks a Sleeve Would be Better Then a Bypass.
tarotcardreader replied to Hope to Resolve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didnt ever have band and the surgeon pretty much laughed about the statistical data on band being bad and it is. GERD could get worse w sleeve. You could develop it permanently. Bypass is the gold standard for the diabetes resolving! I do want to say here that we dont know all your micro deets that your doctor does that might influence their suggestion. I’d suggest a second opinion on the side from another surgeon instead of the internet so they can really review your stuff. Bypass has an ulcer issue which may be why they r pushing sleeve but ppi can help w prevention. Get another surgeon opinion if unsure is best advice -

EGD experiences
tarotcardreader replied to cobeariatric25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first egd i had a decade ago was in texas and i was awake for it. The second one i had for wls that hospital makes everyone sleep. I had to stay an extra hour in observation due to being more high risk (apnea). I tasted reflux right after. I took a nap when i got home that day. IV was in top of hand and had a weird bruise under there for days. Its scary its a trial practice run because its quick like 5-10 minutes unconscious versus 1-2 hours for surgery -

Postop without narcotic pain meds
tarotcardreader replied to over65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats a great program lucky. Some of us have apnea for which the opiods r contradicted due to even more airway relaxation. Infact some patients in the beginning who had weightloss surgery w apnea would die in their sleep after. Now most places seem to not allow the opiod after surgery due to airway collapse. I also concur with the lady questioning the use of celebrex .. though its a gentler nsaid its still an nsaid and thus ulcers could potentially be a problem at the staple line w nsaid use. Tylenol has the safest but is it really the safest for those of us w fatty liver. Use what you need and have available to you. Im going to try w just tylenol -
Two weeks post op, large incision is burning
tarotcardreader replied to Tracy04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its common to get an incision hernia (20% ish do) also if it puffs up could be a keloid. Contact doctor.. and don’t come to stranger on internet first. First call doctor 👩⚕️ -
No BiPAP in Recovery room. Terrible experience.
tarotcardreader replied to over65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have apap. There are two schools of thought on post op care both raise some valid points. However, the apnea patients with a machine that can actually take a breath for them should definitely have their equipment in my opinion. There is some concern post op about pap use and Extra air going into the pouch that can cause complications. Apnea patients are more high risk and need extra care and not the one size fits all for every apnea patient. Recovery has its own protocols usually and most doctors are just borrowing time in a hospitals surgery room for the procedure so hospital policy trumps im going to take my pap with me and hope it works out. Of all the things that couldve went wrong you came out golden cause sleep apnea is high risk for surgery complication so take some comfort in that -
Add Genepro to Chicken Broth?
tarotcardreader replied to SJR20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro was actually sued and genepro lost in regards to that high of protein in a little scoop. You can google it if you want to know more. I haven’t tried the powder i just read about the lawsuit. Just know you are probably only getting half of the 30. However, some people swear by it. I also have the containers for meal prep. I will be using a mandatory post op bariatric advantage shake kit at first though. After that premier protein probably
