Recent RNY - How ya doing?

One of the other girls who had her surgery prior two days prior to mine hurls from puree and i do that from shakes. in support group we were talking with dietician how particular each persons stomach is and that we are hoping these are temp food intolerances lol
  2. I posted a pic of my appointment so u can see exactly which ugi i had incase they are different but yeah wasn't pleasant. I also was told bariatric advantage shakes only post op but went with pp and both made me il so thats that lol. Hopefully everything is okay and its just a food intolerance and sometimes food intolerances are only temporary. The post surgery has definitely been more complex than advertised ☺️. Let us know how it goes!
  3. hi. i was pretty il in the hospital and had that nasty test done. lol. Including pic for exact wording of test i had. you drink really putrid cup of yuck. They have you standing against this thing which turns out that it lifts you in air and goes in different laying positions etc. then when its done it returns you to standing, It was very unpleasant. Very. On mine it said i had an ileus which meant something was still sleeping or something like that. I had my surgery on aug 28. I was in hospital for 4 days and the nurse wanted to stay longer because of ileus. but the surgeon said it was cool to go home so i went with that and am sleeping in my own bed. I did alot of regurging shakes and weird noises were coming from my pouch while trying shakes. once on puree this got so much better mainly because right now i am not drinking shakes. i know i am below all my protein and water goal but i try everyday as a new day. i plan to try to get my protein mostly from foods. i am hoping my pouch will get up to 3 oz so i can eat 3 eggs which is 21g protein and that would help. i thought about getting some unflavored protein (genepro etc) and using it. If it is a shake allergy of whey try premier protein its milk protein. There are other options out there. good luck at the test it made me so much more nauseas. just try to hang in there and dont give up 👯‍♂️

    Mentally ready but Emotionally torn

my advice would be not to stock up too much your pouch may reject it after surgery then your stuck with stuff you cant eat/drink. I would also get some of the extras like chewable gas x but usually you can ask for a script to go home with of it for when you feel the burp if you ask for it. Buy extra pillows if you dont have but two. Buy a couple for each side and a couple to make you lay higher so that you wont have to sleep sitting up on the couch. Some of us had to lol. Don't worry about packing for hospital they have everything you need there even mouthwash. Hair brush yes bring that if u dont want to use comb. Phone and charger necessity incase you get stuck in there for days. get a nice food pureer. i got magic bullet you need something to puree the foods in the next or third in some cases diet stage. disposable 2 oz and one oz containers make meal prep and clean up easier (a m a z o n). im sure everybody has a lot to add, and congrats. if we could keep it off on our own we wouldnt be this fat. if we dont have the surgery wed prob have the diabetes and other deathy ailments within five years. remember why you started. strange how the weight is just flying off... yet when we try to do it it was stuck and slow. it is painful though and hard i have yellow pee from not enough water as i type this and im tryin to get in the 64oz needed to turn things around. but lost two more lb today 😯
  5. I was given purees at 1 week well mainly cause i seemed to be hurling the shakes and the shakes caused some kind of strange gurgling noise in my throat as well. I was regurging the shakes all night long. At 4 weeks i start the next part and was given a handout for it. I did surgery aug 28. I am not allowed to have beef or pork yet so the meat kind is limited. I have had egg white w cheese and fish filet which were good. everything else i puree into baby food goo lol

    Foods after surgery

purreeee it in the magic bullet with some type of sauce like nacho cheese bbq etc something zippy yet something that helps it go down. It doesn't look appealing but doesnt get stuck
  7. if you had bypass then you are correct
  8. I only do one ounce. Also i puree the chicken into a creamy goo. I want to try two ounces today. Today i am trying ground turkey seasoned with taco seasoning and some nacho cheese. Chicken can be heavy and at 3/4 ounce make my nose run sometimes which my nutritionist says some people have as a sign pouch is full. I cant imagine eating 4 ounce all at once lol

    Give it me straight!

pain and discomfort should not go unmentioned as well as getting all the protein water in with small pouch. maybe in a year ill have the hang of it and be pain free. however i went from 300 to 260s in the blink of an eye so theres that so far lol

    5 weeks post op-very sick

I read On this forum when this happens people walk alot and it helps
  12. The surgeon still has to wait for the pathology report which processing times vary. Its for the hplori and anyother sites they biopsy. I was given a surgery date after it Was processed though which was scheduled about two weeks later. Each step is a step closer 🐝 hang in there!
  13. Not sure about any of that but was allowed to start pureed early and i love it try throwing some cooked chicken in the magic bullet with low carb bbq sauce mm

    Too Much Gatorade???

Hi congrats on having a surgery date. I was sick with gatorade post op. I did try it though because I thought it would help with preventing dehydration. My pouch just prefers ice cold water. Its a bit puritan lol. I read another lady on here had a kidney stone with similar symptom to yours so it may not be the gatorade. Hope everything goes well with surgery!

    Post-surgery Eating

i would say be careful not to stock up too much on any one thing. i bought a lot of broth (better than bullion) and that was the first thing i hurled in the hospital lol will try the broths again when further out. the shake texture also seems worse after just my experience
  19. ending up modifying the recipe with some turkey meatball lol

    My VSG pouch too big?

I did rny and my surgeon does golf ball sized pouch and all the things you said is true. hard to get in water etc. it varies by surgeon. gastric bypass can hold less than sleeve so dont compare the golf ball to your banana pouch lol. compare banana with banana 🤓

    protein

Hi you can drink protein h20 or protein waters that have 20g protein in if you want and your surgeon says is ok. Mine did. I also been taking a chewable multivitamin from a sample bag i got from celebrate though. I am currently in purees but still try to choke down some shake because its just so high protein there really is nothing comparable to that 30 grams.. if you can get it down that is

    Puree stage

pft girl love the puree phase. i had egg salad, bbq chicken, chicken alfredo, chciken salad, still in puree and lovin it more than the shakes for sure. shakes make me hurl and pouch makes weird noises w them

    Day 1 post opp

    yay glad to hear
  24. Hi catty it depends because your egd may come up abnormal and they need to do another study like a gastric emptying study. Plus you have to wait atleast a week to get the hplori pathology report for the surgeon. You can make things go quicker by picking up that pathology report yourself and hand giving it to the surgeon place.
