    "Just one pound"

Thank you! That puts it in perspective!

    June 2020 surgeries

Propel Lemon Water (or other flavors) is really good. I found that suggestion from a guy on youtube. It isn't as strong as Gatorade Zero/G2 but not as watered down as regular water with lemons in it. I like the Premier Protein shakes -- have you tried to thin them out a bit to make them easier to drink? You can use a nutribullet/magic bullet and blend them with ice cubes too.

    covid test

It is quick.. Only takes maybe 30 seconds? Don't stress about! So many other things are much worse, like the strep test, tetanus shots and pap smears (if you're female). If you can get through those three things -- the CoVid test is a piece of cake. I will say though that I read that how easy it is depends on the person who is administering the test... My nurse was super gentle. I hope you get someone like the guy I had - he was great!

    Weight loss after sleeve

I got my surgery 3 weeks ago yesterday, so 22 days ago. I gained almost 10 lbs in the hospital - I assume from the air they pump into your stomach plus the swelling.. I lost that within maybe 2 days, then went from 192 lbs to 177ish in a week to 10 days (sorry can't be more accurate - I didn't log this stuff so I am estimating)... now 22 days after the surgery -- I've only lost another 2 lbs. I've pretty much stayed 175lbs for the past 10 days (estimate).. I've been upset about it, but I googled around... Here is what I found - when your on the clear liquid diet your liver shrinks...and when you start drinking/eating things with substance...your liver expands back to its normal size. This can cause a "stall" around week 3. The blogger said to be patient while your body sorts itself out. I am not sure how correct that info is, but if you google around -- it is not uncommon to have "stalls" in the first few weeks. Let's keep this thread going with our progress...

    covid test

No reason to be scared.. it isn't bad. They put a swab FAR up your nose and it smells of alcohol.. not pleasant, but it doesn't hurt at all. You'll be fine!

    1 week pre-op diet?

My doctor did NOT require any preop diet -- just nothing to eat or drink past midnight the day of surgery. I was shocked by it, but I had tacos the day before. If your doc says 1 week, then you should be fine. He knows what he's doing.. but if you feel more comfortable doing 2 weeks, then go for it.

    June 2020 surgeries

I wasn't looking forward to the hospital stay either, but I actually loved it. Everything is taken care of for you - your pain meds given to you via IV is so much better than crushing it and taking it orally. (My doc gave me liquid T3 and it was disgusting.. I couldn't hold it down.. had to get it in pill form). I brought my laptop to the hospital and played games on it. My hospital was super quiet and serene. I had the most troubles day 3 and 4, because there was no more morphine... only Tylenol 3. Which did the job okay but nothing like morphine did. Don't be scared of the hospital! Use it as a time to let others take care of you. My nurses were so kind and attentive.. it was a lovely experience.
  8. My BMI was 31.9 before surgery. I am not sure if there are less complications, but the first ten days were not fun. I also have been losing weight slowwwwwwly... much slower than all the stories I have seen on YT and stories on here. I knew it would come off slower since the bigger you are -- the easier it is to lose weight (at least at the beginning).. But I didn't expect it to be this slow. I haven't lost a pound in a week.. ( I am exactly 3 weeks post-op).

    Antidepressants

Definitely take it after surgery. My doc told me I didn't have to, so I didn't (IMO, bad advice).. you're in pain and things are foggy during those days & you have to crush your medicine, so I just didn't take it. BIG MISTAKE. I went into a huge abyss of depression. I resumed taking Prozac 20mg about 5 days after surgery.. I also take Xanax for anxiety.
  10. I just saw these tonight at Kroger and debated buying it, but didn't. What do you mix it with?

Just Got my June Surgery Date!

So happy for you! I remember when I got my surgery date - I was so excited... My excitement totally obscured any nervousness I could have had. You'll do great. Just make sure to follow the instructions each step. If you get out of line - your body will react & it's not pleasant. But it will be worth it in the end! Keep us updated on how things go!

    Post Op Day 4, intake

Oh gosh! I thought the same thing at that stage. I thought it would be the new normal and luckily it is not. I am good with liquids, but I just sip on them slowly.. Before surgery, I used to down half a bottle of water in one sitting - just gulp it down. I've had to train myself to hold back. Just really try to concentrate on sipping instead of gulping. Once you get through day 3/4/5 -- it gets easier day by day.. Some days it would be hour by hour for me. I am on soft foods now, but my diet consists mostly of the same things from week 1.. I don't eat seafood or most of what's on the soft food menu.. I eat a little of the soft foods, but mainly stay on liquids.

    Post Op Day 4, intake

Propel water (lemon flavor is my favorite) is also good. I learned that from a youtuber. It has electrolytes in it & it is flavored but not as intense of a flavor as Gatorade Zero / G2 .. Hope you are holding up okay.. Day 4 was my worst day. Everything has gotten better since then-- keep that in mind.

How to know you’re full early on?

I've been eating only 4-5 bites, then waiting 15 minutes for it to get to my stomach, then eating 4-5 more bites. My doc said to eat until I am full then stop. Other people say they can hear gurgling in their tummy and they stop. All I know is that the few times I ate until my stomach was full -- I ate too much and was in pain after. I just wait until it has time to get to my tummy, then if I am still hungry I eat a bit more. I guess just like everything with this journey - it will be different person to person. I am 15 days post-op in soft food stage, fyi.

    Day 2 Postop

Yes, I had Tylenol 3 - which is nowhere near as effective as the morphine they give you in the hospital. And day 3 and 4 were awful. I only had to take the T3 for four days though -- and the most I took per day is 2 pills. I think I took two pills Saturday and Sunday, then one on Monday & Tuesday...and was off them by Wednesday.
  16. I had my hiatal hernia repaired too and did not know that the sharp pain was related to that... I thought it was related to the sleeve surgery. It is such a jarring feeling but luckily mine only lasts about 15 seconds each time.. I keep having good "hours" and not so great "hours" (instead of days.. it is now marked by hours). I think we just need to give it time. I am on day 10 (almost 11).

    Day 2 Postop

Heya, I am new here. I just had mine done one 5/21, so I am 9 days out (almost 10). My worst days were the day after I came home from the hospital.... and then the next day, so days 3 & 4. I gets easier after that. But boy is the pain a shocker when you get home and no longer get morphine every 2 hours. I didn't have issues with gas... just bad constipation, which luckily I found help for on this site.. after days of horrible constipation where my waste was RIGHT at the end of my colon but just would not come out (gross, I know.. I am sorry) --- I finally read on this site about people taking miralax and that worked well for me, i got scared when someone posted they had to go to the hospital because of an impacted colon, Just take it easy. We will slowly get stronger.. Congrats on your surgery!
