    I am so amazed at the amount of pointless calories that come from drinking. It is my first habit to overcome. My plan is to decrease aggressively. Any suggestions to support would be appreciated.

    Here is my plan as I start this journey. I am enrolled in a 90 Day program to acquire insurance approval for the gastric bypass surgery. During this time I have to prepare mentally and physically to accept and adhere to a 600 calorie diet after surgery, learn to excercise regularly, stop smoking, stop drinking alcohol. All of which are very positive life changes that I am ready to welcome. I don't expect it to be easy, in fact I try not to think about how hard it is really going to be. Here is a short summary of how I envision the process. Starting this week I am adhering to a strict 1500 calorie diet, June 1st it will reduce to a 1200 calorie diet, July 1st to a 900 calorie diet. Right now I do not see how this will be possible but that is the plan to be ready for a 600 calorie diet by August 1st. Bad habits to correct are smoking and drinking. I plan to stop drinking as quickly as possible so I can focus on stop smoking. I plan to begin the stop smoking process on June 1st by stopping the drinking first I will eliminate one of the motivators to smoke prior to starting this process. I hope to be smoke free before July 1st. This will give me a month to really focus on being prepared mentally and physically for the surgery. I would appreciate any ideas, thoughts, concerns, or suggestions to my plan that could help me be successful. Thank you!     Here I go! Day 1 pre op diet

    Either way it’s wasted calories and can’t do it after surgery. Lots of positivity coming from this life changing journey.
  6. I think scheduling surgery in the next couple of months is completely safe for the majority. There are a few areas were the virus was more pronounced and still have a heavy load. If you really want to know if your area hospital is overloaded simply ask what their census is in both the general patient and the ICU. Most have available space to care as many are not pursuing elective procedures. It really is dependent upon each areas impact or concentration of the pandemic. I am scheduled for a hernia repair in May here in Nashville, TN. My WLS won’t be until August or September. My confidence in this area is strong.

    Here I go! Day 1 pre op diet

    Here I go, day 1, 4/29/2020
Goals: 
1. logging my food with my fitness pal. 
2. Tracking my weight loss in inches, lbs, BMI, and Pbf. 
3. Maintain at least 3 long walks (3 miles or more) in the park each week. 

I hope the tracking will help keep me motivated. The logging will help me be aware. The exercise will show faster results. 

Challenges to overcome before surgery... not proud of it but I drink too much so tapering the number of drinks each week will get get me there. Kinda like a countdown approach. Currently 6 drinks a night on average ... hope to be at 6 per week in 6 - 8 weeks. 

Then there’s the smoking... yep 30 years of it... gonna start working on that on June 1st. Don’t want to change too much at once kinda mentality. 

Lastly is this forum where I hope to find positive assurance and support. Creative ideas and thought processes are very welcomed.
