  1. I actually have less issues when I am on low carbs. I am really gassy since the surgery. The days that I eat less carbs I don’t have that issue. As far as high calories, I’m not absorbing a lot of that fat. I’ve started keto... for those who are interested I’ll keep you updated. Again, this is not a lifestyle thing. I got an ok from a PA I know, so here I go...

  3. Ok so I’m not new to this. I am 10 months post op and have for some reason stopped losing weight no matter what I do (this is for over a month already) I realized that the way I’m eating is helping me maintain but I still need to lose about 30-40 lbs so I want to try keto- not for my whole life- just to do a 60 day thing or something just to get my body moving again. This is not a lifestyle change or anything like that....

you've got a wonderful excuse - you're going in for hernia repair! That's all people need to know for now - that is, anyone who needs to know why you're away from work - and most people don't even need to

Ok I’m doing this on my phone and I’m not sure exactly how to do this quoting thing sorry abt that... this is mine:

Hernia repair... That’s exactly what I’ve told people. It’s an awesome excuse. My mother is a PA and was struggling to get blood from my chains so she asked her college to. He wanted to know why I needed a pre op blood test. I didn’t know what to say. My mom was like- o she’s having a hernia repaired! I didn’t even know abt the hernia until my pre op endoscopy. But yes it is an awesome excuse

  5. Hey! so I’m an 18yr old female. I had the sips/ loop ds done when I was 17.5. I’m 10 months post op. I keep wondering if there are any others out there who are my age going through this. Although we wls-ers can all relate to each other in some way or another, I was wondering if anyone out there is about my age, still in high school or college or something like that... I’d appreciate getting feedback/ hearing about tour journeys.

  6. The calculator gave me a number and let’s just say within 6 months I was lower than that and still going. Calculates don’t mean anything everyone’s metabolism and body works at different speeds. Just a tip If you go according to those things you’ll end up disappointed that you won’t lose as much as you want to or that you lost less than you should have....

  7. The first week or two will be like that. I cried the 4th day because I wanted to CHEW something. It goes away after a while. I promise, it’s worth it. You will be so much happier. I obsessed about food the whole first month. After that you forget that food exists and you actually need to set reminders on your phone because otherwise you’d faint from lack of food. I’m serious. It’ll get better. Don’t take one day at a time take one hour at a time. This too shall pass.

  8. So just an update. Yesterday I was feeling really constipated and I decided to take a laxative. I dropped 4 pounds overnight. I’m thinking that I probably did gain about 2-3 pounds of pre menstruation Fluid and the rest of it was the constipation.... still going to wait And see. Thanks for your help!

Try food journaling by just writing down what you eat and when. If it keeps happening, then start counting calories again. Sometimes, we arnt all that honest with ourselves when we eat and how much. (honest) Journaling just makes us aware of it all.

I’ve been using my fitness pal since b4 surgery. Thanks for the tip tho

actually, bloating CAN by a symptom of constipation - you could have a lot of trapped air in there (trapped behind the...you know...). But there are other things that can cause bloating - some artificial sweeteners can do it for some people - or certain foods like Beans and cruciferous vegetables..

Just got back on here to add that it might not necessarily be Constipation - it could just be you have a lot in there. Have you been eating a lot of Fiber lately?

Not sure abt the fiber but I have upped my Protein intake... it’s just so frustrating. I chose this diet over the sleeve even though it’s way more risky because I didn’t want to deal with regain to the extent that the people that have done the sleeve do. I’m not even done losing weight. I was two pounds from not being obese for the first time since I was 5.

  11. I’ve been using the bathroom 1-2 times a day which is less than my usual but I’m not massively constipated or anything. My stomach has been bothering me a lot lately- bloating and all that fun stuff. Thanks. I will try drinking more

First of all stay safe - You are the same age as my two kids who are also doing college now from my office. Since you are young i would suggest you look at the High Protein work out diets. My son is on one for building muscle now and he does not have a weight issue but has lost 20 pounds while building muscle

Thank you. Starting today. This pandemic here in NY... it’s been crazy. Almost everyone at home was sick. My Dad almost died. He’s doing really well now thank G-d.... on a happier note I will be posting my first few meals to see if maybe there is something to improve. Anyone is free to comment/ add.
    Thanks for your support

I'm an RNY'er, so I'm not sure if the DS'ers are on a similar diet, but if so, I'd go back to the way you were eating at first (not all the way back to all liquid or pureed stuff, but I mean the Protein first, then veggies - and then, if you still have room, maybe a small serving of fruit or whole-grain carb). If your system can't handle the fat (I have issues with fatty things, too), then do lean Proteins - like chicken, turkey, fish, and low-fat dairy. Although again, I had RNY, so our recommended diets might be different. To be sure, I'd ask the dietitian at your clinic if at all possible...

Most fruits and vegetables make me really bloated and gassy the ones high in Fiber are hard for me to eat

  14. Hi!
I’m 9 months post-op the loop ds. I lost a bit (ok, a lot) of control over my eating habits and it’s time to rejoin the band wagon! So here I am trying to refigure out which foods I can eat that are both healthy and won’t upset my stomach. I’ve had IBS prior to surgery and the malabsorption has complicated things so I’ve been eating whatever didn’t make me feel sick. Those foods are not exactly the right foods to eat, but I couldn’t handle being in the bathroom all day especially in school. (I’m 18. Had the surgery done when I was 17. Don’t freak out.. 😝) with the Covina virus, and living in NYC, I’m Learning remotely now and have more time to focus on what I eat. I want to do high Protein low fat because, ya, protein. And the fat gives me GI issues. Any ideas on meal planning?
