I wanted it drained as i don't have much capacity for fills in the future, so the idea behind having it drained was to let it settle down, whilst sticking to slimming world and then starting again. have posted on the pregnancy board too, thanks x

Hi guys, i got banded 31st May 2008. I lost 50lbs in the first 6mths and then got pregnant. I didn't have any fills to allow me to eat enough so as not to restrict what was eating. I went off the rails and due to ill health and being bed bound, got into bad habbits and because i was pg, i kinda stuck my head in the sand. After my son was born i was 14lbs off my pre-surgery weight :cursing: I went for a fill but felt no restriction. I've only room for 1 or 2 small fills. so whats the point? I'm doing slimming world and the weight is coming off again, but i want this band i paid for to work again. Should I have my and drained, bar the first 5 mls and wait a month (sticking to slimmer world etc) and then start again? Has anyone else done anything simular? did it work? I have to pay for fills and with a baby about i can't afford to waste money you know. Thanks so much for any replies and or advice. xxx

Hi all, i had my gastric band fitted at bromsgrove on May 31st 2008. By xmas i'd lost 50lbs and then discovered i was pregnant (was chuffed been trying for over 8 yrs). I'm due to give birth in 7wks and have put on about 28lbs. I haven't had any fills since discovering i was pregnant and feel like i've no restriction left at all. Has anyone been through simular? and if so how soon after having my baby can i have a fill done? I'll be breastfeeding and so will need to keep my strength up. Know this might sound stupid, but will it all work for me now? Being overweight and 8 months pregnant is not easy and i want to be slim before I have more children. Thanks to those who have read and can offer advice. Jules xxx

I'll be having my fills in Cardiff too, any info you can find out would be greatly appreciated. xxx

Hey guys, I find it abit strange that we dont have a weekly weigh in thread going on, on this site as i think it'll encourage and motivate us, not to mention we can support eachother when things don't seem to be going quiet as well. Well here goes (if no one else joins in I wont post my weight next week) This week i've lost 5lbs giving me a total loss of 12lbs since 31st May 2008. Jules x

Hi Guys, i lost 5lbs last week so i was chuffed. i've dropped from a 28/30 to a 24-26 on bottoms and have got into some size 22 tops. so happy with my progress so far! :cry_smile:

2lbs for the last two wks, not too bad i guess, it all helps :biggrin2:

Hi guys i managed to find a liquid Multivitamin and mineral suppliment in Boots, its orange flavoured. Boots.com - Shop -- A-Z Multivitamins= only £3.99 too. So far so good for me. have to have 2 spoonfuls a day for adults alot easier than trying to swollow a tablet. Hope this helps. Jules x

Hi Debbie i went with WGA but as far as i know the staff seem to work for both. I had my call about 8 days after coming home. so if you concerned i'd phone and chase it up i'm sure they wont mind. hope you get your call soon. xxxx

Unluckily for you perfect ten, you seem to have had a much poorer service with WGA than i have. I too had a call from Karen and have been given my xray and discharge appointments. I know we opted for the no frills package but to be honest i couldn't be happier with my results so far. But Perfect ten it might be worth visiting your GP if your worried about the purple scar tissue, as mine seem to be pink and quite small. And Kerri Mr Sigurdsson did my op and i found him very good. Sorry you've had a bad experiance so far Perfect Ten, I hope they resolve these issues for you very soon. Jules x

Well, I had a letter the other day with a check up apointment for the 2nd july. I was told at my pre op consultation that i'd be informed of my first fill, which is taking place in cardiff, (so not too far away) and then i'll have to make any future appointments from there. Hi All, i've been reading a few posts and am glad i have found a UK forum. I had my band fitting on Saturday. I'm still very tender but the wind has to be the worse, i'm drinking lots of peppermint tea to try and shift it, so far feels abit better than yesterday. Finally managed to sleep for 7 hours last night, cant get used to sleeping on my back. Yeaterday I managed to have a cuppasoup and about a quarter of a slimfast, Because i feel sore and bloated I cant tell whether i'm hungry or not. Anyone else have this trouble at first? I weighed in boots on Friday and I was 24st 1lb, i'll keep you all updated on my progress, I hope to make alot of friends on here, and share this journey. I have PCOS which is a huge reason I got banded, because me and my husband want children, but after 8 years of trying this seemed like my only option, as diets have never worked for me. I tried on the NHS but was refused as "it wasn't considered an emergency intervention" So I looked into other options, I looked at the hospital group, but couldn't afford that so found Why Go Abroad, which pretty much is the hospital group, same hosp same surgeons but 4k cheaper. Hi Debbie, I got banded in dolan park on the 31st May. so just over a week ago almost at the end of the liquid tunnel! :tongue2: I too had Elaine look after me, wasn't she lovely! My experience so far has been all positive. The recovery has been a bit harder than expected but not through pain, which is good. Loadsa luck for you and your new band! Jules xxx

Well I weighed today as i was in boots and i weighed last friday so i'm not breaking any rules and weighing early And since last friday i've lost 7lbs! i'm very pleased and as alot of people dont really see any weightloss until a couple of fills its just the motivation i needed to push on. I do get hungry but not much. i got hungry for lunch at 12 and again now and its tea time but not inbetween, but if i do i just have a fat free yogurt. Had a worrying morning as i had severe pain in my side and i panicked about band slippage and all sorts of things but it passed after a couple of hours and a call to NHS direct, and i figure i must have just slept funny and maybe pulled my side. Hi georgina, I paid the same as you, and my first fill wasn't included either, tho if it is i'll be nicely surprised! Try not to get yourself too wound up hun, it'll all go fine. I'm the worst person in the world for worring and i kept thinking i'm gonna back out but i didn't and stayed calm. Apart from being a bit sore and tender theres no real pain. I've had much worse toothache before now. Actually surprised by how much it doesn't hurt. I'm really looking forward to my weigh in on sat i'll be having a weekly weigh in at boots because i can print it out and keep a scrap book of my weight loss. I'm not expecting miracles especially because i haven't had any fills yet but I think i will have lost a little something, especially having been on this liquid diet. (which i hate, but its only for 2 wks. (9days left! lol) Everything will go fine, and we'll all be pretty, slim & healthy before you know it! Jules :cursing:
