    Thirty-year-old sleevers

I’m 37 and was sleeved March 18, 20. So I’m still new to this but I will say the first 2-4 weeks after surgery were rough. Mentally and physically. I was liquids only for 2 weeks and barely sipping anything at a time and it felt like every drop was getting stuck at the top of my stomach. That was from inflammation and eventually went away but it was painful and annoying. Then I was purée for 2 weeks. At that point I was super sick of liquids and purée and wanted to eat. I still wasn’t hungry but smelling food and seeing food was very hard for me mentally. Once I was on soft foods, things got better for me physically and mentally but not my weight. I have been basically stalled since I started soft foods. I’m down about 24 pounds overall but zero in the past 3-4 weeks. I know I’m not getting enough protein but I also know there is no way I’m eating enough to cause a stall so my body is just rebelling. I eat about 500 calories a day. I can only fit about 1/3 cup of food at a time and I eat 2 or 3 times a day. I’m super active. I speed walk 4 miles 5-6 days a week and I’ve added in some HIIT workouts as well. I am much thinner now than I was but the scale is not budging. I have a follow up with my doctor today and I’m pretty sure I haven’t lost anything since my last follow up so he will not be happy. I know the weight will have to drop at some point but....it’s getting old not seeing the progress I want to see. I’m sure the surgery will be worth it eventually. You have to be prepared for the mental ups and downs you’re sure to have. They seem to come in waves over different things.

    7 weeks post op...

I’m in almost the exact same situation as you. About 6-7 weeks out and our starting weight was super close. I stalled for 2 weeks and even gained 5lbs. It was super frustrating but I knew I was doing everything I was supposed and just stayed the course. I finally started losing weight again a few days ago and am now at my lowest, even the 5lbs I gained during my stall. Drink your water, get your protein, take your vitamins and get active. It will happen! Good luck!

LOW GRADE FEVER 6wks post op still

She should check her IV site for any painful lumps. I had one and ran a low grade fever off and on. I also have hard (ish) lump under my big scar where fluid has built up a bit. Either of those could cause a fever - they did in me. Dehydration is a big one. She needs 60oz a day of fluids minimum. At 6 weeks out that shouldn’t be hard to do.

Weight loss stall of 10 days

I’ve been stalled for a little over a week now and have actually gained weight. I’m not even a month post op. Super frustrated! Ever since I started purées. I’ve been counting and my calories are normally around or less than 500. I get plenty of water. Super worried!
  6. How long am I limited to 5oz and hour? I’m having a hard time getting in enough liquid a day with being allowed to have purée. According to my dr I’m supposed to wait an hour after drinking to eat, then another hour after eating to drink. I know most of you only have to wait 30 minutes. But what I’m wondering is can I now drink more than 5oz of water an hour to make sure I get enough for my day totals? Between drinking my protein, taking my vitamins, getting in enough liquid and eating purée it’s really hard to time it all out. I know I have the time restrictions with vitamins and protein but my protein makes me so full that I can’t take anything in for a while and it takes me a long time to get it down.

    What to avoid on purée?

So the Ricotta Bake is purée? It seemed like a soft food for me. Yeah, I think my Dr is super conservative. Liquids 2 weeks, purée 2 weeks, very soft 4 weeks.
  8. Well I’m still on liquid so I don’t eat yet but my stomach for sure gurgled the first several days. I’m 14 days post op now and it doesn’t anymore.
  9. I go to the Dr tomorrow for my first follow-up. If all goes well, he should advance me to purée for 2 weeks. Is there anything I should avoid? Anything I should try?
  10. Thank so you much! So glad to know it’s not forever! I have been able to not tiny sip but not drink normally either for the last couple days but have been afraid to do so. Glad to know it will go back to normal eventually!
  11. please tell me this isn’t a forever thing. I know I need water but can I just take a swallow eventually instead of the tiny sips every minute?
  12. I’m on an iPhone and it won’t let me change it anywhere.
  13. Hmm that doesn’t work for me. It just opens my profile. No peep of tickers either.
  14. I can’t seem to find where to update my weight in this forum. I want to keep it fairly current but I can’t find it anywhere.

    Metal taste in mouth

I have it. Pretty sure it’s your body detoxing. I’m only 9 days post op and have it all the time. Before surgery I would get it any time I went on a super low cal diet for any length of time.
