  1. hey girl! im doing well how about yourself? sorry just saw i didnt reply to your last message about 2 months ago! if that exercise tape you were talking about is anything like jillian michaels 30 min shred, then you are right! its a good way to get in cardio if you can push yourself through the whole 30 minutes! i love it.

how is your fill? hopefully you still arent too tight. :)

  2. yay 50 lbs thats awesome! you can definitely TELL girl!

i just moved and dont have my scale with me, but i would be totally surprised if i havent lost more weight. since i moved that also means i left my trainer... needing your boyfriend-trainer-friends more than ever now! haha

andy you look great! such a difference and in such a short amount of time! you will reach your goal in no time :smile2:
  8. bek! i just saw your post about being too tight-- im soo sorry and i hope you went to the doc and got that figured out by now! i had the same problem in late march-early may, although i was at 7cc (and over those 2 months i got multiple small unfills down to 6cc with no progress). it was awful throwing up everything, eventually i couldnt even get down liquids! i definitely lost a lot then, but in a really unhealthy way and i wouldnt do it again. it seems pretty obvious to me now that my band slipped! after they unfilled it, luckily it was early enough for my band to just go right back into place. i have 3cc now, but that is pretty much nothing for me since my doc put my band in me with 5cc! but i am so much happier not getting stuck all the time or being worried eating in front of other people. still losing weight, just through some newfound willpower, eating right and exercising.

anyways, hope all is getting better! and still waiting for my bf/trainer to arrive in the mail... :)

    Twenties NSVs

thats awesome laur! I remember when I first fit into my old pair of size 16s; it was such a good feeling not having to lay down on the bed and suck in just to button it. (and to think.... now six months after that NSV i am almost HALF that size?!) sorry you have been feeling down lately. My boobs took awhile before they got smaller.. I still fit into my old 38D bras, but they aren't busting out of them anymore I guess, and I don't have those back fat rolls from struggling to clasp it in the back. Don't get down on yourself too hard! You have to remember how far you've come in such a short time.. and the fact that you are STILL losing weight! it takes awhile for the mind to catch up with the body... believe me, mine is still wayyy way behind. and mrriceguy-- I hope you are proud of yourself for that 3 mile jog! I was only just now able to run 5k a week or two ago... and you are running with more weight on you so now I am feeling like I need to step my game up if I am going to keep up with YOU! and I am sooooo jealous that you went hiking in Alaska. That sounds like an awesome trip.
  10. thanks for the pic comment and the compliments! happy to share my NSVs, but just especially happy that i am HAVING them! heres one i had today... sharing it JUSt for you (because you said you like reading them! haha)

i was working out with my trainer today, and while i was doing pushups he goes "hey, i can finally see your tricep muscles coming in!" my arms are my least favorite part of my body, but they are getting muscular which is awesomeee and so motivating for me to lift harder. then, later in the workout, he just kinda stops and says "you know, thinking back to when we first met (like 8 months ago).. it's just night and day. you arent the same person at all. you can run circles around the old you." which, i mean, i knew... but its always great when someone else notices your achievements.

you have done a great job so far along the journey with your weightloss! keep in touch!

  11. thank you! glad i can inspire. good luck to you!

OH MY FREAKING GOD! I AM WEARING A SIZE SMALL?!?!? i don't care that its just cotton and an adult size, it is clothing that is saying that my body is SMALL, and it eve nfits kind of loose in some parts. i'm gonna keep saying that out loud though.... small small small. i'm small! haha looove it!

hey lufferly, sorry to hear that. i'm obviously not a doctor, but speaking from experience, i would say just slow down your exercising a little until you get stronger/weight less. your knees are really important and you DONT want to screw them up, ever. if you can, i would suggest talking to a doctor or working out in front of a certified trainer/physical therapist so that they can make sure your form is best as well. as you begin to weigh less, it should get somewhat easier on the bones which makes it easier for you to run as much as you already are (which, by the way, is awesome... so good job!) when i was at my heaviest i had a problem with my feet going numb after a period of time, and i have not had that happen in months. i also used to get really sore after every workout, like i couldnt even stand up from my bed in the morning type of sore, and now, even though i am working even harder, it is only once in awhile. i love that sore feeling though... not having it means my body is working more efficiently and therefore im not burning off as much as i used to! oh well, guess i'll just have to keep working harder!

    Twenties NSVs

you look awesome angie, what a cute skirt/outfit! and you definitely look like a 12, at least in that picture, so go YOU! i love reading long NSV posts, reminds me of things in my life that i didnt even think about as being a NSV but totally are! i was in new york this weekend for the 4th staying with friends.... and lets just say i got a LOT more male attention this time around than on previous times out with all the girls. haha, ill leave it at that! going to a cousins wedding in september and will be seeing a ton of family i havent seen in awhile, looking forward to (but also sort of dreading) that night! oh and, i'm calling it... im definitely a size 10 and not a sort-of 10 sort-of 12 now! cant wait until i am officially a size EIGHT! single digits baby! i think i can definitely get there by the end of the summer..
  15. check YOU out! you look awesome! good job!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

woohoooo kathy thats awesome-- both for beating your DH and for your running time! i know you worked hard to get that 35:44! i wish i had a running partner to challenge me in real life! (oh and happy canada day!) and thanks for saying i am dedicated.... i'm leaving tomorrow for a trip to NY and dont know how i am going to get in any exercise.. its so much harder when you are away from home! im thinking i am going to try to convince my friend to run with me because i want to give the 5k a go in central park, but i might have some trouble getting her to go with me... shes definitely skinny, but not athletic! haha but i am sooo dreading not working out for possibly 4-5 days straight... its funny how addicted i have become the past few months! suzanne- so sorry about your foot. let it heal and hopefully it will not need surgery.. but if you do, make sure you get plenty of rest. besides, if you are feeling extra marshmallow-ey (? haha) you'll still be able to do upper body workouts right? i bet there are plenty of fun classes or DVDs you can do that are core workouts for your middle and arm workouts. lufferly-- don't die! haha but doesnt it feel AWESOME when you are done from a workout when you feel like your heart is going to jump out of your chest?? and that also means you got a LOT out of your run so good for you! pretty soon that speed will be easy for you and you will be ready to kick it up another .2

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

thats awesome lufferly! and you can TOTALLY do it! whenever i kick up the speed a notch and i feel like i just cant go any farther, i just change my music to some song where they're singing about some hot girl... and then pretend they are singing about me -- or, at least, what i COULD be if i finished one more lap! usually gets me a few more minutes running when otherwise i probably would have slowed down to a fast walk. i dont know if it will work for you... but find something that motivates you or distracts you while you are jogging and you will forget how tired you are until... eventually (hopefully).. you start to think you could go on forever! also, kathy you reminded me with your post. im sure some of you have heard of HIIT training... a lot of big tough body builders do it at my gym for their cardio, but its something you guys may want to try once in awhile too (maybe you'll like it! and it is the BEST for maximum fat loss and getting the most out of your workouts) you can google it (I found this: HIIT: Supercharge your Fitness and Fat Loss), but basically its like EXTREME interval training. just run at like... COMPLETELY full speed, like your legs are about to fall off-- think biggest loser where they have the contestants run at 10mph for 30 seconds and they fall off the treadmill -- you look absolutely crazy at the gym doing it, but the only people that think you look weird are the people who are reading a magazine or talking on the phone on the treadmill anyways.... not even getting in a good workout. why would i want to do that? seems like a waste of my precious time now that i know what my body is capable of, and i want to push myself to the absolute LIMIT! i dont want to be on the treadmill for an hour to get a workout i could do in five minutes! ive found this type of hardcore interval training has helped to bump up my speed overall too. i know im still relatively new at this running thing, but hopefully this helps someone who is even newer or who is in a rut and wants to try something new...
  18. hey thanks for the pic comment! i work out a lot now, but that was a gradual change in me... im totally addicted now! i started working out lightly before surgery (but i guess on and off i had always been a little bit active). about a month after surgery i started working out hardcore 5X a week, but things got busy with school about two months later and the only real exercise i did for feb-beginning of may was a lot of walking every day. for the past two months though, i have been working out anywhere from 4-6X a week, this last month i have worked out with a trainer for 2 of those days each week. i needed to wait until i was ready to put my everything into exercising... now i LOVE it! cant believe im one of those people... haha

good luck to you! you have made amazing progress already in your pics! let me know if you have any other questions

  19. congrats on onederland kerimezz!! woops... haven't updated in here in awhile. can you update my current weight to 182.8?

    Twenties NSVs

it seems like whenever i post in this thread i get new NSVs immediately after-- but not complaining here! so today i went to work out with my trainer at his gym. i was warming up on the elliptical while he was finishing up with a new client of his, who is older but had about my body type from last year. she was really struggling on the machine next to me while i was going fast, even though it was just for my warmup. out of breath, she told my trainer-- "well, she just makes it look so easy!" i laughed and kind of mentioned that i was slower than her last year and that she would get better in time, just wanted to encourage her but not get in her business or anything because i know how i felt a year ago when people tried to tell me what to do or not do. after my warmup i went to jog a few laps while i was still waiting for my trainer, and i came back over to them a few minutes later and the woman goes "i have to congratulate you on your weightloss! damon (my trainer) told me-- and you look incredible!!" i got a little embarrassed but my trainer was just like, "yeah, jane's my poster child!" made me feel so proud. like, yeah, i can see the results when i look at my before/after pics, but when you see me on a regular basis the improvements are harder to see, and this was the first time my trainer acknowledged that i'm his super star... and that he was bragging about me to other people! this random lady probably has no idea how happy she made me, because in actuality, she is the first person i have seen face-to-face that told me i was inspiring her.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

kathy thats awesome! i hope you get selected! last year i had an amazing internship as a reporter at the beijing summer olympics, and it was the best experience of my entire life. of course, this was before my surgery and at the height of my weight at 260 lbs, and there were so many reasons for me to be unhappy (i worked in the gymnastics venue so everyday i was working with teeny tiny girls, i couldnt fit into my work uniforms -- even the biggest guy's size pants -- and i was too out of shape to walk very far on tours of the city, couldn't really walk the great wall, etc). I had the best time of my life but I wish I could do it all over again now that i am in much better shape. the olympics is such a great environment to be a part of-- it is really one of the big motivators i have had this year. i hope you can be a part of that torch run! you would get to carry that olympic spirit with you and i bet it would be the world's best motivator-- you'd probably even bump up your 5k speed! oh yeah and, about that, dont make excuses about your personal best-- because it is just that, a personal BEST! even if you cant match it all the time, you were able to accomplish it at some point and that is amazing in and of itself!

    Fasting

hey keepingfaith, glad you posted and are now listening to all the GREAT advice jachut, willowcat, and others gave you. the best way to boost your weightloss is to boost your metabolism, and exercise is an awesome way to do that (circuit training-- if keep your heart rate up REALLY high the whole workout, you really only need to workout for 20-30 minutes!) fasting is, as everyone else has said, the WORST thing you can do for your body. i just wanted to give my 2 cents and encourage you after your last post. before my surgery over 7 months ago, i could hardly run for 20 seconds straight. my feet would start to get numb, i was out of breath and just felt like giving up. soo glad i didn't! yesterday i ran my first 5k, and today i did it again! took my 35 minutes and 30 seconds to run 3.1 miles, but now my goals are to drastically improve that speed. my weightloss is significant, BUT it was only after it slowed that i decided to really kick my workouts into high gear. the weightloss is still slow, but it is coming OFF and my muscles are coming OUT! take it slow and don't worry about the numbers on the scale, because likely when you are working out more you will be losing less because you are gaining muscle. don't let it get to your head, or else you may be tempted to stop the workouts. dont-- trust me-- it's working. also, definitely take advantage of your university while you still can. im about to graduate at the end of the summer, and i KNOW i am going to miss my university's rec center.... oh man! i will never find one as amazing AND free in the entire world! but the best part is that the more you keep exercising, the more confident you will get and pretty soon, the rec will be a good place to make friends (who knows, maybe even start talking up some guys? its a big confidence booster!) let me know if you have ANY questions!

loveislovely, you look freaking amazing! love your sense of style, too. k, i just posted this pic in the main pics thread, but figured i should add it here too since people my age would probably be more interested. there are more pics i just added in a private album on my profile (add me as a friend if you want to see them) hate this before pic, but its a good reminder of where i came from and why i am NEVER going back! this current pic i took tonight after a workout.
  24. i haaaate this before picture (which is why i cut off my head!) but it shows the most drastic comparison i think. before: 251 lbs, october 2008 current: 183 lbs
