I just get generics at Walgreens or CVS. They usually have one or two versions of calcium citrate (the rest are all Calcium carbonate, which we don't absorb very well).

I get the petites if they have them because the standard calcium citrate tablets are kinda big. I can handle them, but I like the petite tabs better.

I'll second this... I also get the petites and usually break them in half to make it easier to swallow.

  2. I had surgery the same day you did. I've lost 21. My surgery weight was 209 and I weighed 188 this morning. The last two weeks have been slowing going. I'm 34, 5'0, my heaviest weight was 219. I understand the frustration but I just keep trudging along. I can't stomach any more Protein shakes!!! I've been managing to get most of my protein in with food now. If you'd like a buddy on this journey I'm more than willing!

A little frustrated right now with my weight loss slowing/stalling for a long time. I am just starting soft foods and don't think I have broken 600 calories in a day yet.

Had the surgery on June 8th, exactly four weeks ago. I had lost 27lbs on the liquid diet (they make us do it for 3 weeks at my clinic), then the first time I weighed myself 10 days after surgery I had lost another 16lbs.

In the 18 days since then, 4lbs... with a 10 day complete stall in the middle. I had read that it can happen, I was pretty dehydrated after the surgery and apparently your liver needs to get back to normal size after the liquid diet and that adds some weight.

I know it is mostly mental, but with eating so little, I kind of expected a pound a day early on like this. I try to tell myself that if I hadn't been weighing myself and if you had told me that one month out from surgery I would be down around 20lbs, and about 50lbs total including the liquid diet period, I would have been fine with it.

Just closing in on 3 weeks with really modest weight loss is discouraging. I really want to break that 300lb barrier for some motivation.

We are surgery twins. My weight loss has for sure slowed down. I'm sure it will pick back up and even out for us.

I live 3 hours from my surgeon and the hospital too. I went up the day before my surgery and spent the night at a hotel and am glad I did as I had to be at the hospital at 5 am (I am not a morning person).
I decided not to chance the long drive home so I spent the night after I was discharged at the hotel too.
But from your picture you are much younger than me so you may not require all the recuperating time I thought I would need. I could have easily made the trip home after I was discharged. My surgery was in Las Vegas and it gave my hubby time to play a little while I slept and rested.

    Good luck with your surgery.

My doctor is actually requesting that I'm admitted for the night. I have been looking into staying the night before surgery. I'm not a morning person either!

  5. All I have left is my final nutrition class which is scheduled Monday (16th) and then all my information will be submitted to insurance. Ahhhhhh... It is getting closer. I'm getting a little nervous now!!!

Packing for the hospital... Comfy clothes (I live 3 hours from where I'll be having surgery), phone charger, lotion (hospitals dry me out), body/facial wipes, deodorant/body spray, hairbrush, tooth brush/paste, dry Shampoo, and hair tie.

  6. Hello All! My first post here... I'm currently in the process of getting all my requirements for my insurance. (FEP BCBS). I'm really antsy trying to get it all together. I feel like I should be doing more... It's just a lot of hurry up wait. I'm required to have 3 nutrition classes, Pysch Eval, Nicotine Test/Labs, 1 year weight history, PCP clearance. So far I've I have had 1 nutrition class (second scheduled for the 24th), blood work, and my pysch eval. March 6th I will see my PCP to get clearance, weight history, and Nicotine Test. My final nutrition class will be March 23rd. Then they'll submit everything for insurance approval. After that my doctor requires an EGD but doesn't schedule that until insurance is approved. After the EGD is done I can schedule surgery. I wish there was a way I could speed up the process... that doesn't include me being cash pay (haha). I'm looking at a April or Early May surgery date. Sorry for my rambling...
