Hello! My name is Judi. I had my surgery December 9, 2019. I am five weeks out and have lost 23 pounds since my surgery. I have lost a total of 68 pounds since starting this process around this time last year.

Back in 2017, I decided to quit smoking after a 35 year relationship with cigarettes. As a result, I gained 70 pounds and developed additional health problems. I knew I had to do something. So I got serious about wanting the surgery and doing what I had to in order to get healthy.

So here I am, 68 pounds lighter and still continuing on my journey to a healthier life.

I’m doing better. I spent Sunday really focusing on my hydration. I added drinking Gatorade and it seemed to help. I see my surgeon Wednesday so I’m definitely going to talk to him about it.

Hello Judi. Welcome to the forums, we are not experts just people on the same journey as every other wls person, you will find advice whether you want it or not. Although everyone's experience will be varied and individual, there is some commanality with regards to success.
Follow the Dr's food plan, track everyday, ride out the stalls and keep following the plan, hydration is critical as it can be very hard to get caught up once you get dehydrated, don't be afraid to call your surgeon's office if some symptom just doesn't improve. Adancing through the food stages is not linear, some textures may just take longer to adjust to....
    Good luck.

You’ll do fine, I’m sure of it! Just remember to push fluids even when you don’t feel like it. Small baby sips are the best. They will help you from becoming dehydrated and feeling nauseous. I had to learn this lesson the hard way.
I would say if there are any questions you have, write them down and be sure to ask your doctor. No question is silly.

That’s how I did it. I put them down and stepped away. Two and a half years cigarette free. It was one of the best things I did for myself.

I had my bypass 6 days ago and a surprise hernia repair. I’m healing nicely but have some constant low-level nausea. Now things like scented candles, my Shampoo, dryer sheets, etc. are bothering me. I also get these phantom smells - where’s that cinnamon coming from?? It’s weird! Anyone relate?

You should look into getting a CareCredit card, They work like charge cards but are only for medical bills. If you pay them off quickly there's no interest, so maybe that could get you in sooner.

J Lynn reacted to Sosewsue61 in How many years after surgery could you eat a plate of spaghetti without feeling nauseous?
Your desire for this food is very apparent, you are asking an emotional question - not a nutritional one. Right now your mind needs to realize that it will never be the same again, unless you want to ruin the surgery.
Your body needs nutrition, so work within the guidelines to simulate Asian food, use the spices and vegetables and some chicken.
Pasta - no, a couple bites here and there, but it isn't that appealing and feels too heavy. You can still have the sauce and meatballs. I suspect you are missing chewing this texture too. All of us had to face the food funeral.
You are among friends here, so don't be rude to sleevers, they are trying to help.

    Having a great day!!
I'm down 30lbs, weighing in at 200, and see ONEderland in sight!!
I haven't worn jeans in a while b/c none of my jeans fit. Today I wore a pair of size 14 jeans!! Huge muffin top, but was able to conceal it by wearing a top that flows!! Feeling great, and can't wait to see what next month with bring!

I had the sleeve on 12/9. Lost 23.2 lbs since surgery. 21 on the liquid diet prior to that. So down 44lbs since 11/18/19. I can feel a difference, but can’t see one. And I feel like it’s coming off at a snails pace. But as long as the scale is down, not up, I’ll take it as a win!
