    Feeling so hungry today

I get it! The pre-op liquid diet was a breeze for me, but the 2 weeks of post-op liquid diet drove me nuts! I fely hungry, but NOT physically hungry. I was dealing with mad head hunger. It didn't help me that there seemed to be food/recipe videos and ads everywhere. A good friend of mine actually made and sent over 2 weeks of meals for my son and he took care of heating them up, so I did not even have to cook (!!), bless her!!! What finally helped me deal with my head hunger madness SO much was journaling about what I was feeling, making sure I got my full water and protein in, AND watching and taking notes on a video by the great and hilarious Dr. Duc Vuong on How to Deal with Hunger After WLS. Here is a link to it:
  2. I'm 2 months out post-op and while I do fine with protein shakes like CORE Power 24 gram (usually Chocolate, and protein bars like Quest, I find myself constantly getting nauseated by regular food. Anyone else experience this? Any tips? Thanks! p.s. Otherwise, I'm doing well and happy with my weight loss, even though there is a tiny part of me that sometimes thinks my progress is too slow. Lol

    Eating too much? HELP!

I found that using the Baritastic phone app keeps me on track. I can track calories, Protein, Carbs, Fat, Water, Multivitamin, Calcium, etc. I'm 7 weeks out and I did feel odd once the daily calories increased from around 400/600 to 600/800.

    Any October Sleevers?

I was sleeved on the 6th, too. How are you doing?
  6. I'm on day 5 of the post-op liquid diet and I started to have the same experience as you on day 3. I can't do the Premiere Protein shakes now. But FairLife High Protein(30 grams) and Carnation Lite Essentials shakes (13 grams) work great for me.

    Anyone go into surgery alone?

Yes, I was alone on surgery day. My middle brother, who was going to be there that morning, had a heart attack four days before my surgery. Everybody else was working. My niece drove me to the hospital. The pre and post op nurses were great. The pre-op nurses were very kind and supportive, especially when they learned I was there alone. The morning after my surgery I ran into another of my surgeon's patients I'd met at the last pre-op class and had also connected with in an online support group run by our surgeon's practice. We were both in the same hallway for our leak tests. Lol Our nurses rolled our beds near each other. Later that day, she came to my room for our pre-discharge class with our practice's nurse. Does your surgeon have a support group? Maybe you can find out if you have a "surgery twin". I'm sending you good vibes for your surgery day.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Just had my surgery October 6th. Stayed overnight, home late afternoon on the 7th. Doing the Stage 2 liquid diet. I was offline for a bit and updating my info here now. Good thoughts sent out to all October 2020 surgery folks!
  9. I've only used Premiere Protein shakes and powder. It's beginning to taste odd to me. I'm looking for your fave alternate protein shakes. I have to do a liquid diet for several days before my pre-op colonoscopy, so I thought I'd try some new ones. I've heard of folks losing their taste for the Premiere shakes taste, Post-Surgery. Thanks! ~Maura aja TheMoxieMama
  10. Hi all, I'm pre-op for VSG. My whole process was way-laid by COVID-19, like so many of us. But now things are moving along; but no surgery date yet. Anyone here from Sentara Comp WLS in Hampton Roads, VA?

    Lets talk protein shakes

Thank you! I'm outgrowing my taste for Premiere for some unknown reason.

    caffeine withdrawl sucks

I was able to quit coffee; it was painful. 😖🤣 Now I'm tapering off from tea. Tea doesn't hit me the way coffee does, but caffeine is caffeine I suppose.
  13. I love your style! Great colors and shapes. Especially love the purple top/black Adidas joggers, and the melon colored dress with the leather belt. Lovely pix of the water lily pond and sunset. What part of Florida are you in? I'm a NY State transplant to VA; I've been here for 16 years. I'm still pre-op, working my way through all the specialist appts. I have three more to go over the next month; fingers crossed. I suppose I should take some before pix soon. I've lost 15 pounds since I started the whole process.

What is the deal with toilet paper?!?

We are living in strange times. In Va Beach TP, garlic, bok choy cabbage, ground beef, flour , and yeast are hard to find. I've had good luck ordering TP & paper towels for shipment to my door from Wal-Mart & Amazon.

I hit 100 pounds lost today!

    Congrats! Very inspiring!
  23. All my pre-op appointments came to a standstill on March 12th, except for the 2 last pre-op education modules that were done with Zoom online. Last week most of the specialists re-opened. Yes! So now I have four things left to do: sleep study, mammogram, colonoscopy and cardiology clearance. Fingers crossed for all of us!
