Love your therapist's advice! Although, I really don't have any health issues. I'm a healthy, fat girl! LOL! I guess, my borderline high cholesterol would qualify, and I do have some knee pain at times.

Is anyone else concerned about negativity from family and friends? I'm having my surgery during a family vacation at a resort in MX and only a few family members know my plans. I'm choosing not to tell most people because I don't think I can deal with negativity and a million questions. I've done my research, and I'm comfortable with my decision. (okay, a little nervous) One family member is actually traveling there with me and my husband. He and his wife are both hypochondriacs, and when he finds out about the surgery, he is going to completely freak out and try to talk me out of it. I love him dearly, but I'm not going to tell him until the last minute because I don't want to give him time to Google a bunch of scary stuff to text me. I will have to tell him before I leave the resort for surgery because he'll wonder where I am. Having surgery when I have lots of support sounded like a great idea, but now I'm realizing there a few people who are going to be negative and I'll have to deal with them too.

How are you doing on the liquid diet? I feel bad that some people have to do the liquid diet, and some, like me, just have to eat healthy! The upside is that you will lose more weight before surgery than we will!

Oh, goodness! Sorry to hear your stomach is very swollen. Did you see the post about the ice packs? Did your nurse or doctor recommend anything to help with the swelling? Are you able to get up and walk very much?

Awesome! I'll keep you posted, and hope you will do the same! 💕 I truly wish my insurance would have paid for me to have surgery in the USA, but that was not the case, so I'm praying my surgery in Mexico will go perfectly.

I've had no appointments with my surgeon, just phone calls and emails with his coordinator. My surgery will be in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico because my insurance would not approve surgery. I'm heavy enough to have the surgery with health issues, but not heavy enough to have it without medical problems. Thank the Lord, I am a healthy fat lady. I pray I'm not messing up! I know multiple people who have had surgery in Tijuana with great success and no complications. I scheduled my surgery during a family trip to Puerto Vallarta. One family member is a doctor and will be at the resort, so that makes me feel a bit more secure. The surgeon I am using is very good. Patients must return to the hospital before flying home for the surgeon to do one last check. That is different than my friends who had surgery in Tijuana. The minimum stay for my surgery is 5 days, could be 1-2 days in the hospital, then rest at the resort, and one final visit to the hospital. Frankly, I would be so much more comfortable if I was having surgery locally, but that was not possible.

Good luck to all the January bunch who have surgery this week! I can't wait to hear how everyone is doing. ❤️ My surgery is still 2 weeks away, so I started my pre-op diet today which is much, much milder than most of the pre-op diets I've read about on here. My diet includes small, healthy, high protein, low fat meals, no high- sugar fruits, refined carbs, sodas, etc., then fasting after 8pm the day before surgery. It's interesting how doctors have so many different guidelines! Congrats Jeslpayn on losing 10 lbs in 2 weeks! 😊

Is anyone else going to make homemade bone broth? I bought some packets of LonoLife Chicken Broth at Kroger last week and I tried one and it is very good, but pricey. I plan to throw some in my bag for the trip to Mexico. I'm planning to make some chicken and beef broth and freeze it for when I get home. I'm not sure how to freeze it yet, probably just in zip lock bags.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to check out the collagen peptides. I already take B12, so I plan to keep taking it after surgery, along with Biotin. I am old, 57, and I ordered bariatric multi vitamins. Like you, I am scared about hair loss. My hair is my best feature!
