So just to rant and get this off my chest even if it's just on the internet... I had my final supervised visit on July 27th. Monday will be 7 weeks since I've heard ANYTHING from the doc. I got two letters in the mail at the end of August. The first was a denial from insurance stating there was missing info submitted from the doctor and the surgery was not medically necessary. I understand that is pretty standard language for the first submission. The second letter was dated a day later and stated that after review the surgery was approved and was medically necessary, but this was not a guarantee the surgery would be covered. Since then, radio silence from the doctor. They have not contacted me about lab work, officially starting the LRD, nothing. I have been trying on my own in the meantime and lost 12 pounds in those 7 weeks but today I gave up and said F it. I've had pizza and chocolate today. Regardless if there's some kind of insurance issue or a backup at the hospital I think it is really unprofessional to leave someone hanging for this long. I see everyday people in our Facebook group who started the process after I did and are getting their dates left and right. Really discouraged and about to give up at this point. Also, I have to drive almost 4 hours to this doctor because I need a hernia repair at the same time and my doc here referred me there. I'm not in a rural area either. We have plenty of hospitals and universities here. Again, about to throw my hands up. Thanks for reading my rant.

Good grief, that’s a long time! You’ve been way more patient than I ever could’ve been. Do you plan to give the surgeon’s office a call Monday? I sure as heck would! I hope you get answers & surgery date soon!

  2. Hi all! I have all my paperwork for what to drink/eat for my clear liquid & full liquid phases. What I don’t have is an idea on how much to drink/eat during full liquids. I know I can have thinned Greek yogurt, thinned applesauce, thinned & strained Soups, etc. But, hypothetically, could I sip on Soup or eat yogurt all day long as long as I got my Protein in? (I wouldn’t actually do that)

In the purée phase & beyond I’m told how many ounces of each category to have in a meal. I just need an idea on how much to consume during my full liquid phase. Any advice is much appreciated!

  3. September is getting close, y'all! Some of us on our pre-op diet already & for the rest of you guys it won't be long! I'm glad I joined this thread because we are going to need each other for support in these coming months. I wish every one of you a wonderful journey as we strive to re-gain our health & lives back! 😀

WOW WOW WOW!!!!! why can't the people in our lives be happy for us? I've told 2 people about my WLS my husband and my best friend. At first my husband was like you don't need it blah blah... I told him I'm doing this with or without your support so... My best friend who is as thin as a rail said I love and support you 100%. BTW...my husband came around to my way of thinking real quick.

So as everyone else has said, don't talk about it with them, they are not your friends and truthfully it's not up to you to find someone to cover your shift, that is your Director's job. Good luck!!! You've got this!!!

Thank you! 😊 I’ll never understand how people can be so negative to others. I’m just glad I’m not as miserable as they are!

That’s funny (in a “they’re so petty” kind of way). Do take pictures and document all of these occurrences and conversations for your protection should the pettiness turn to actual retaliation. If you never need it, great, but if you do it’ll be invaluable.

    Fantastic idea, thank you!

I will jump right in with zero support here too. My surgery is on Monday and I have been working so hard to get here. We are doing this for us not for them. So just keep going!

This site has really proved invaluable for support & I'm so happy I joined.

I'm so excited for you- Monday is almost here! My surgery is September 9th. I'm looking forward to seeing your journey!

  7. I'm confused on making Protein Shakes. I thought it was pretty darn simple- liquid, powder, blend. But I'm getting a ton of foam & all flavors taste disgusting all airy like that. I made a drink with Water, flavored water powder, & unflavored Protein for lunch. I couldn't handle the taste right away but now I'm seeing that the foam reduces the longer in sits in the fridge so I'll be trying it again soon. Can y'all please tell me the different methods you use so I can get some ideas? Thank you!

  8. I've got a funny update for y'all. Yesterday the supervisor in charge of scheduling put out the schedule for the first week I'm off for surgery. Anytime someone is out for a full week (vacation, sick, whatever), their name is left on the schedule but the days/times are blank since they won't be there. Well, I look at the schedule today & she completely removed my name. Interestingly, another co-worker is off for vacation that entire week but is her name removed? Nope. These petty people have me laughing now! 😂🤣😂
