  1. I didn't lose any weight pre-op though, so that's probably why those first 24 pounds came off so quick. I'm now at the point where I would get while dieting and could never get past. I'm hoping to lose about 5 more by the end of the month fingers crossed. I have heard that the more we need to lose the faster it goes off.

If it makes you feel better I was down 14 lbs the first week but only 2 lbs in week two. I just keep reminding myself that if I stick to the plan the pounds will drop off eventually.

  2. Hey! Late to the feed, but I had a sleeve on 12/31. First New Years Eve in a long time where I felt like I was working towards something instead of just wishing! I am having trouble getting everything in during the day. Between the two Vitamin shakes and all the Protein I feel so bloated. Have y’all noticed pain when you swallow certain things? I can’t have Water that’s too cold and Jello bugs me. I may just be weird. [emoji854]
I definitely can't do really cold drinks or I can feel it all the way down. I've been using a 5 min interval timer on my watch to remind me to drink and that's been helpful getting my fluids in. I also use diluted Crystal light since water has been really bleh since the surgery.

  3. Glad you are feeling somewhat better. I haven't had much luck on getting in more than 64oz Water in a 24hr period. I've only gotten in around 30 grams of Protein a day. farting pretty much constantly. Still haven't taken a bowel movement since the morning of 12/31/19. Don't think I'm constipated, just don't think anything is there to eliminate. All protein drinks are gross to me right now, even unflavored. So I drove to Walmart and bought a few cans of broccoli and cheese Soup and a few cans of cooked shrimp. I put the can of soup, can of shrimp drained, 1 scoop of whey protein Isolate unflavored powder, and 1.5 cans of unsweetened almond milk in the blender. Turned it on the smoothie setting. It came out super creamy. Poured 6--2oz sealable bowls and put away 5 in the fridge. Heated the other in the microwave for a minute. Taste great, didn't even notice the shrimp in the soup. The soup was completely smooth with nothing to strain out. I'm going to get in 2oz in every 2hrs till 10pm that should give me 52 grams of protein today. The most so far.
Have you tried GENEPRO? It's unflavored and doesn't change the texture of the food. I literally have been putting it in everything but my water. Herbal tea, pudding, soup, yogurt, etc. I have really big issues with food textures and it's been great. I agree that I can't handle the taste of any of the other protein drinks. They make me want to gag.

  4. Yesterday I actually felt like I had a more difficult time getting in the correct number fluids than day 1 and 2 as well as more pain at the large incision. A nurse I spoke with said some people have more pain etc days 3-6 so hopefully it will get better soon. I've just been adding GENEPRO to Crystal light to get in some Protein.

  5. Some people only feel good by tearing other people down and unfortunately it sounds like your mom is one of those people. They say we all have 2 families one we're born too and the other we create ourselves. People will say things like "blood is thicker than water" but I've always believed that the family we choose (spouse, children, friends) has the stronger tie.

  6. Hey everyone, I was starting to get worried. Steve glad you are doing better, Cutebutcrazy, do what feels better for your body. Should I rent a recliner for a week, though? Please advise.

My bed probably would have been fine if I had a headboard or something else to hold on to getting out of bed. It also would have been easier if my bed faced a direction so that so much pressure wasn't on the the sore side trying to get up. So while a recliner is more comfy for me I don't know if I would have went out to get one if I didn't already have one. Maybe take a look at your bed setup.

  7. I'm happy to be home but definitely feel more bloated/gas pain since I left the hospital. Sigh, isn't that always how things happen. I was pretty lucky with pain I took the liquid hydrocodone 3x in the hospital and for me it worked well. The norco pills they gave me from home don't seem to be helping as much (maybe my stomach isn't breaking them down enough) Now I'm chilling with an ice pack in my recliner trying to decide if I'm staying here for the night or if I'm going to try my bed. I'm super tired after only getting a few minutes sleep at a time off and on in the hospital.
Congrats to everyone on a great start to a new year. New Year = New Us!

  9. Like you I've been cleaning and prepping the house. And shopping, I keep feeling like there's something else I need. It's kind of like the nesting you go through when you're pregnant, lol. I guess it's appropriate since we'll be bringing home a new baby stomach. I'm pretty sure I'll be driving myself completely crazy by Tuesday. Thankfully my surgery is very early on the 31st so I won't have to stress too long that morning.

  10. I am also scheduled for surgery on the 31st and have had second thoughts especially when I saw everyone eating all the things I couldn't and won't be able to for a long time. I just keep reminding myself that statistically there's pretty much no chance of losing and then keeping the weight off without surgery. We're almost there don't give up!

  11. How elevated is your TSH? What medication are you taking? I have been both hypo and hyper, finally had half of my thyroid out in Oct. of 2010 and have not had an issue since. I would check with your surgeons and get his/her opinion.

My TSH is 7.4, I take Armour Thyroid which is natural dessicated thyroid vs synthetic T4. I really like it better than Synthroid but a lot of doctors don't like prescribing it. I left a message for my surgeon so I'll see what happens.

  12. I have hypothyroid and on my pre-op labs my tsh was elevated. My Pcp is on maternity leave and her replacement isn't familiar with the medication I take so wants to wait 6 weeks and retest before making any changes. My surgery is scheduled for next week and I'm concerned that I'll miss the initial weight loss if my thyroid levels are low.

Is there anyone who's had experience with this type of situation?
