Hello! I am adapting an all plant based diet as well. I am only 4 weeks out, and working on using up the little bit of meat and meat based Protein powder left. I have slowly made the change, so not to shock the family. But my husband who has many health issues is very supportive. How has your life change been going? Are you still plant based? Do you find anything working better than other things?

I went in for surgery about 1:30 pm. I woke up about 6pm, still very groggy. Used the bathroom, and went back to bed. Woke up at 5am, ready to face the world. Felt amazing! I got dressed, did my makeup, walked and walked. By 10am I was discharged.

Iām pretty happy with cutting the meat out, now vegan balls, boca crumbles, and tofu are also In my diet...there is plenty of plant based Protein to go around. I had been working towards a plant based diet for awhile. The surgery just helped push me along a lil quicker. The hubby is doing it with me as well. He is borderline full blown diabetic, has high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. He said if all is numbers improve, he will gladly stay away from meat. So far both our energy is up, and we just āfeelā good.

Iām trying to cut out my meat, and get Protein with plants. Muscle milk, and bulletproof are animal based protein, Iām using what I have left over. The plant based diet sits so much easier on my tummy. Eating meat is miserable to me now, itās so heavy. Protein comes in many forms plant based, quinoa, chia seed, Flax seed, nuts, Peanut Butter, Beans, legumes, nutritional yeast. (Animals eat plants, thatās where they get there protein from). Iām just cutting out the middle man...(animal).

I was just curious as to how much daily exercise everyone is getting. Iām roughly walking between 5-8 miles a day, I work at a hospital and there is always somewhere to go.

I was sleeved 12/12/19, I weighed myself today, I have lost 27lbs total since surgery day. Whoot whoot !!! That is damn near a pound a day. I have been mainly focusing on fluids/protein shakes. I can only eat about an a ounce of food at a time. Try to do this three times a day. I have decided to go to a plant based diet to maintain my weight loss. This surgery has drastically opened my eyes to a new way of thinking.

Has anyone thought about going to Overeaters Anonymous?

I lost a friend for wanting my surgery, I was being a bad influence on her daughter, who was very interested in the surgery. I also get the common statements of oh i know people who have died, people who get the surgery look so sick....blah blah

I just read an article that 50% of sleeves patients regain their weight back!!! Is this true? Iām feeling some type of way. How does this happen? I just got sleeved and my insurance only gives one bariatric surgery a lifetime. I chose the sleeve, mainly because I was afraid of losing too much weight with the bypass. I will stay focused each day and do what needs done, and thank my higher power for this new chance at life.

Bone Broth and Protein Powder really saved me during the prediet phase. Also the sugar free frozen pops. You got this, just remember after surgery the game changes. Your hunger goes away, and then itās all a head game. Hang in there!

I was sleeved 12-12-19....My husband told me today my body feels jiggly! After feeling myself, I am! Itās as if Iām losing all my muscle. Is this normal? Iām not taking in enough calories nor have any extra energy to even think about working out. Iām walking about 5 miles a day for work, and that literally takes almost everything I have. Im drinking plenty of fluids, and getting at least 65g of Protein a day. Iāve began to be able to get a few bites of soft food in a day. But mainly all my nutrition is Protein Powder in my fluids.

Vegan meatballs at Aldiās are so good, we use them in so many meals. Also the plant based noodles at Aldi are super good. Edamame noodles, the hubby liked them, super high in Fiber, so carbs turn out being super low. Add that to some spaghetti sauce and another great vegan meal.

So Last night I made a vegan Olive Garden like Soup.
Diced potatoes boiled in veg base stock.
Then sautƩd boca crumbles, kale, onions, peppers...added to the soup.
Thickened with corn starch, unsweetened almond milk, and chia seeds, seasoned with salt and pepper. This was super tasty!
I also add āNoochā (nutritional yeast) to just about everything for extra Protein.

Hummus is on my soft foods for three weeks post op. I freaked out so much about āleakingā too. Thatās great your making your own food!! Processed foods helped get me here, so my big thing now is meal prep, and fresh homemade meals. I order from imperfect foods, fresh veggies, and fruit at a discount delivered to the door. I got a coupon for anyone who wants to try them out. It has helped me learn more about other veggies, how to store them, and cooking and trying more veggies I normally wouldnāt have.

Your at 2 weeks PO and already eating carbs? Does vsg not need time to heal before introducing meals back in? Is this your dietitian/drās plan? I have the sleeve so maybe itās different. But Iām supposed to be eating Protein now. I just started adding fish, eggs, avocado, soft food stage. Two weeks post op I was on thick liquids still. Are you getting all your protein and Fluid intake in?

Struggling eating? Or eating too much?

Congratulations on your new life! Nobody deserves a mamma like that! Better off with the family that loves you, heals you, and brings you up! Love donāt hurt, love donāt steal, and love donāt kill. Your mamma done killed your love, hurt your heart, and stole away your hope. Time to heal, and stay away from people who hurt you. Stay wonderful, love your wife harder!

Some vegetarians do eat a lot of processed foods, which sadly can make for obese vegetarians. I didnāt get to this thread because I made the best of decisions but am definitely taking this second chance at life to make better choices.
