  1. If you truly feel you were wronged, just buy one of these and test yourself at home.

If it comes back negative, contact the Dr. and tell him you want to be retested as your home test shows no nicotine. If it comes back positive and you haven't smoked in a month, you've got a bigger issue.

You can resolve this in a day.

    luck!

You *could* cut the bars into 1/3 pieces.

Yes thanks. I try to fill up on 150-200 calories.cutting the bars in thirds would be 120 calories, and have virtually no mass, so I fed them to the squirrels who ravage our bird feeders.

  3. I was in a noodle bar at a casino at 1;00 am the other day/night and ordered the spicy beef noodle bowl (which has always been my go to there).

So it came out, I looked at it and said to myself: "F---me, I used to eat all that?" It was a huge bowl of udon noodles covered in a spicy broth with beef brisket and peppers. So I ate the beef, and all the broth, about 20 noodles and it was glorious. When I was done it was just a giant bowl of noodles, and the waitress said (in broken English) "you no like"?

I said " I loved it", which I did, and i was stuffed.

So the answer to your question about when you can eat a bowl of spaghetti again, may be: You might never want to.

  4. I know what you are saying, but a perfect example is that my wife bought me some "high Protein energy bars" for Christmas. Yesterday she saw them still sitting on the bread box and asked me "aren't you going to eat those"?

I said, thanks, but no way, they have over 350 calories per bar. So her intent was certainly good, but One Bar a day would be 350+ more calories, which is why I am saying that maybe it's not always about eating another couple chicken breast per day, it's about subtle things that you do by accident or good intent.

So again, how was your calorie consumption over time?

I have good news for you. I was sleeved on April 29th and I hit a low on November 4. I spent 2 months in a sideways range and only recently broke it. See the chart below what a 2 month stall 6 months out looks like! What am i doing differently, absolutely nothing I think my body just needed to consolidate after months of such rapid loss.

@Fatboyslim1 while true that cutting 500 calories a day will result in 1lb/week of loss I highly doubt anyone 9 months out has the ability to cut out 500 calories a day unless they are somehow over say 1700 a day (unlikely)

The reality is, no one except the OP knows how much she is consuming. I don't quite understand the idea that someone must be @ 1700 calories per day to be able to drop 500 (which by the way could easily be attained with sugars and sweets). Even 1700-500 is 1200. I'm at 750 right now, so for me to add 500 would only be 1250. So I don't really get what you mean.

Curious how many calories were you consuming back in July vs September ? Admittedly, the first 2-3 months are the sweet spot where everyone should be striving to follow the plan to the max.

  6. It is entirely possible that you have not "stalled"' you have "stopped". You have hit a daily caloric intake that no longer causes you to lose weight.

Among other things, you are 80 lbs lighter than when you started so your daily caloric burn is LESS than it was when you started. Think of it this way: whatever you are consuming today, is what it will take for you to maintain your current weight for the rest of your life. That's a good thing!

First - congratulations on losing close to 80 lbs.

Second - don't consume any more per day that you have been for the last 3 months.

Third - get a bit more exercise (enjoy your new self)

Fourth - try to cut back a little bit on calories (500 per day less would give you a lb per week)

Give it a try, and see what happens

    luck!

  7. Sadly the average person responding to pleas for help about "stalls" do not offer advise or tips. Instead they say things like "I understand you weight the same as you did a month ago, it happened to me too". Or, "a lot of people report that they go up and down for periods of time, etc...."

Heres the problem with that: it's basically contrary to what people are asking for, which is: how can I get back on track?

People do not need excuses to do the same wrong things over and over again. People need encouragement that says things like, "we are human, we slip up and eat too much of the wrong things, and this is what I did to get back on track."

I would bet that every single long term person on this thread who ever encountered a stall for over a week, realizes in retrospect that their "stall" was directly related to their caloric consumption. If that's so, then say it, dont encourage the same behavior in people when they are reaching out for answers.

  8. Capy - would it be possible for you to fill out your stats profile and also keep this thread up to date on your progress. You seem to be the perfect example of how "women in particular" struggle with "slow weight loss" .

Your contemporaneous progress would be great for people who are struggling, to watch. You write very well and seem to be engaged with the community, and it would be very helpful.

I for one am very interested to know if you were on a pre surgery diet, and if so how long and how much did you lose.

    luck!

Some vegetarians do eat a lot of processed foods, which sadly can make for obese vegetarians. I didn’t get to this thread because I made the best of decisions but am definitely taking this second chance at life to make better choices.

Good for you, and best of luck!

That's counter intuitive to tell a person not to think of calories... You need to learn how to count calories for the long term..

Every single thing you consume has calories then you have to learn what calories are good or bad like carbs vs protein; if you don't understand the basics you will have issues.

From day 1 I log every calorie everyday and that keeps me focused and to know what affects my weight positively or negatively..

Over time you have to figure out if you need to add calories or not depending on your activity levels and energy levels.

I don't disagree, but these guys seem pretty good. They were the ones that a year ago said that there was no need for pre surgery weight loss, as it was potentially harmful. Now that concept is becoming mainstream, and in a year it will probably be stopped (except in perhaps morbidly obese). That being said, it would seem absolutely vital to count calories once you get to the maintenance stage, However they said that due to current volume restrictions and food categories, it isn't even worth thinking about at this point.

  11. It's easy to be scared because there is so much noise out there about WLS and certainly short term deviations are to be expected, but Just remember: eat less, weigh less.

The band was not really the complete answer. It works for some who use it as a tool to learn new habits, but there are now better (and easier) ways.

Trust the process. A smaller pouch is easier to fill with less food. Just make it the right food at the right intervals, and you will be good to go.

    luck!
