  1. I saw my pcp yesterday, and told him my BP was hovering around 95/55 and he took me off all Losartin. I was on 100 per day. I am supposed to track it over the next week. He also called for complete blood workup to check vitamins, etc.. I've also been on BP Meds for 8-10 years.

    Not seeing change

Post your stats and progress in your profile. No way to speak to the issue in the blind. Seems incredibly bizarre.

I had a salad for the first time last night, and it was fine. Low cal dressing to be sure. The day before my dinner was Caprese' salad. Heavy of the tomato light on Mozzarella. again no prob. Take the seeds out of the tomatoes

    So pissed

If you truly feel you were wronged, just buy one of these and test yourself at home. https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/at-home-quickscreen-nicotine-test/ID=300395330-product If it comes back negative, contact the Dr. and tell him you want to be retested as your home test shows no nicotine. If it comes back positive and you haven't smoked in a month, you've got a bigger issue. You can resolve this in a day. luck!
  8. My BP has been 95/55 since i have lost the first 35#. I cut my Meds in half, and have an appointment with my PCP today. He will prob change the script .
  9. I was actually surprised when my surgery/Nut group kept telling me "don't worry about calories, just worry about volume". It's a very proactive university based operations, which seems to be on the very cutting edge of the craft. So far it is working incredibly well. As such, here is the Post 6 week to 3 month plan: Diet plan: Three structured meals a day (B,L,D) A meal consists of: 2-3 oz protien (weigh after cooking) 1-2oz cooked or raw veg. * Portion size will gradually increase over time, but remember to stop eating when you feel content or satisfied, do not overfill. Remember to eat slowly chew well to allow yourself to feel full, before you take the next bite. Protein: there are no restrictions, but wait 3 months before having steak. Eat a variety of protiens. Protien will be the focus of your diet. Vegetables: eat at every meal. Limit starchy veg, like corn, peas, potatoes, pasta. Etc.. Drink 2 protein shakes per day to maintain minimum 60-80 grams protein. Combined fluid total of at least 64 oz daily, no caffeine, carbs, sugar, alcohol . Do not skip meals. Eat just enough, and slow enough to feel full. Do Not drink anything from 30 minute prior, to 30 minutes after each meal. Very important! Do not chew gum (For the rest of your life) Take your vitamins and minerals. So that's it in a nutshell. No calories defined, and I asked several times. They kept saying that if I follow the percentages (Basically 2/1 Protein over veg, with very limited starch) and eat till full, without drinking, it's a slam dunk. So far, a lb per day like clockwork. luck!

    3 Month Stall. WTF?!

Yes thanks. I try to fill up on 150-200 calories.cutting the bars in thirds would be 120 calories, and have virtually no mass, so I fed them to the squirrels who ravage our bird feeders.
  11. I was in a noodle bar at a casino at 1;00 am the other day/night and ordered the spicy beef noodle bowl (which has always been my go to there). So it came out, I looked at it and said to myself: "F---me, I used to eat all that?" It was a huge bowl of udon noodles covered in a spicy broth with beef brisket and peppers. So I ate the beef, and all the broth, about 20 noodles and it was glorious. When I was done it was just a giant bowl of noodles, and the waitress said (in broken English) "you no like"? I said " I loved it", which I did, and i was stuffed. So the answer to your question about when you can eat a bowl of spaghetti again, may be: You might never want to.

    3 Month Stall. WTF?!

I know what you are saying, but a perfect example is that my wife bought me some "high Protein energy bars" for Christmas. Yesterday she saw them still sitting on the bread box and asked me "aren't you going to eat those"? I said, thanks, but no way, they have over 350 calories per bar. So her intent was certainly good, but one bar a day would be 350+ more calories, which is why I am saying that maybe it's not always about eating another couple chicken breast per day, it's about subtle things that you do by accident or good intent. So again, how was your calorie consumption over time?

    3 Month Stall. WTF?!

The reality is, no one except the OP knows how much she is consuming. I don't quite understand the idea that someone must be @ 1700 calories per day to be able to drop 500 (which by the way could easily be attained with sugars and sweets). Even 1700-500 is 1200. I'm at 750 right now, so for me to add 500 would only be 1250. So I don't really get what you mean. Curious how many calories were you consuming back in July vs September ? Admittedly, the first 2-3 months are the sweet spot where everyone should be striving to follow the plan to the max.

    3 Month Stall. WTF?!

It is entirely possible that you have not "stalled"' you have "stopped". You have hit a daily caloric intake that no longer causes you to lose weight. Among other things, you are 80 lbs lighter than when you started so your daily caloric burn is LESS than it was when you started. Think of it this way: whatever you are consuming today, is what it will take for you to maintain your current weight for the rest of your life. That's a good thing! First - congratulations on losing close to 80 lbs. Second - don't consume any more per day that you have been for the last 3 months. Third - get a bit more exercise (enjoy your new self) Fourth - try to cut back a little bit on calories (500 per day less would give you a lb per week) Give it a try, and see what happens luck!

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

Sadly the average person responding to pleas for help about "stalls" do not offer advise or tips. Instead they say things like "I understand you weight the same as you did a month ago, it happened to me too". Or, "a lot of people report that they go up and down for periods of time, etc...." Heres the problem with that: it's basically contrary to what people are asking for, which is: how can I get back on track? People do not need excuses to do the same wrong things over and over again. People need encouragement that says things like, "we are human, we slip up and eat too much of the wrong things, and this is what I did to get back on track." I would bet that every single long term person on this thread who ever encountered a stall for over a week, realizes in retrospect that their "stall" was directly related to their caloric consumption. If that's so, then say it, dont encourage the same behavior in people when they are reaching out for answers.

    60 years old

61, and every day I lose roughly a pound and a month. By spring I will be 30 again

10 days post-op and eating well.

Great. Kind of the same process here. Can you fill out your stats, so people can watch your progress.

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

Capy - would it be possible for you to fill out your stats profile and also keep this thread up to date on your progress. You seem to be the perfect example of how "women in particular" struggle with "slow weight loss" . Your contemporaneous progress would be great for people who are struggling, to watch. You write very well and seem to be engaged with the community, and it would be very helpful. I for one am very interested to know if you were on a pre surgery diet, and if so how long and how much did you lose. luck!

    Quantity of food

Good for you, and best of luck!
  21. I don't disagree, but these guys seem pretty good. They were the ones that a year ago said that there was no need for pre surgery weight loss, as it was potentially harmful. Now that concept is becoming mainstream, and in a year it will probably be stopped (except in perhaps morbidly obese). That being said, it would seem absolutely vital to count calories once you get to the maintenance stage, However they said that due to current volume restrictions and food categories, it isn't even worth thinking about at this point.
  22. Fatboyslim1

    Quantity of food

Sadly, most vegetarians I know are quite obese. It's a noble concept, but not really that healthy compared to a balanced diet. I'm staying away from anything with a face

    What if it doesn't work?

It's easy to be scared because there is so much noise out there about WLS and certainly short term deviations are to be expected, but Just remember: eat less, weigh less. The band was not really the complete answer. It works for some who use it as a tool to learn new habits, but there are now better (and easier) ways. Trust the process. A smaller pouch is easier to fill with less food. Just make it the right food at the right intervals, and you will be good to go. luck!

Sheri - Great job ! Can you give us an idea of the amount of calories you were consuming at various stages of your progress? Like were you at 800 cals for the first x months, then went to X now are at X ? Just a rule of thumb ? thanks
