I had a sleeve, not bypass and at this point I'm pretty sure it was within expectations that I be able to eat 3-4 oz in a meal. Don't make me freak out and think I'm stretching my sleeve!

    Crazy personal question

I removed my comment and reported him. We'll see if it does anything.

Every doctor is different BUT by week 4 I was able to eat pretty much anything so by 5 you should be ok.

    BCBS Arkansas

Good to know AJ! I called both the hospital billing and my insurance company just now. Billing said they sent all the records and insurance says they have gotten about half but they are coming in slowly but surely due to the system they use. Was advised to check back in a week on status. Was advised they will automatically re-review my claim once they have the needed info. I've already made a request to get my records on a CD so that I have a copy, good idea. Insurance said they can take up to 30 days to review so I guess I won't freak out until they have the info they need and finish their review and then deny parts of the claim.

I would say its absolutely not allowed. Carbs, sugar, etc. It's also not super easy to digest.
  6. If you're basing that 6 month exercise thing on Dr. Vuong, I would take that with the HUGEST grain of salt. Dudes a quack selling MLM because he can't get a job as a Dr. anymore.

    Crazy personal question

That's awful that you had to deal with that!

No, I was cleared to eat anything but raw veggies and salad by week 4 after surgery. For soft foods I did eggs, chili, ground meats, beans, tofu, etc.

I 100% look forward to when I can eat 2 eggs and more haha!

I mean, I did it last night myself haha. I made something like 16 mini meatballs where 6 is a serving and was 3oz and that was all I could finish 1 month post-op. I still need to learn to eat slower and get used to cold or room temp food.

Curious - why does everyone seem to make bigger/normal portions only to eat 1/3 or less? I can't imagine than an omelette reheats all that well?

    Day1 - 2week Post-Op Diet

That seems very similar to what I had and was allowed in my first two weeks post-op which was what we called the liquid phase. I had no issues at all other than when I tried to make tomato soup with full fat milk. I'd skip the cream of wheat or rice - that WAS on our plan but was removed under the new nutritionist. My carbs were well under 20g a day during the liquid phase. I generally had 2 protein shakes/supplements a day and then some sort of meal for the last - soup, yogurt, pudding or jello, etc. I still think there will be hunger as all of this is liquid or slides out of the stomach quickly and easily. I can't believe you're getting a sleeve at 265! I mean to each their own and I wish you luck but I would likely be happy just to get to 265 from my starting weight (we're the same height). And I am assuming you're male.
  13. Must be bad! Try the other half of the bottle. I've never had it fail to work for me. Talking 10+ times.

Not every doctor has that in the plan. I went from 2 weeks of liquids to 2 weeks of soft foods, no puree stage. I was allowed to puree if I wanted but I didn't.
  15. I did it and it worked fine for me! I also use collagen and it kinda turned my jello into gummies haha.
  16. I ate a bite of a cookies and cream croissant. I'm barely 4 weeks post-op. We were at a german restaurant/bakery and my wife was asking the server about the croissant and what was in it. It looked like chocolate but also had white stuff. Server didn't know but I pestered them that they could give us (4 people) one to try and we could tell them. Well it worked and I wasn't about to tell them I couldn't eat it after cajoling them to get one for free!! I took one bite of the 1/4 of the croissant I was given and loved it. Gave the rest to my wife lol.

    3 weeks post op

Mine was also almost 2 full weeks. Stairstepping - 2 or 3 or 4 days in a row at the exact same weight down to the tenth of a pound and only losing 4 pounds or so over that time. I think it's over for me though, last 5 days have gotten me from 291 to 287. So I'm closer to the pound a day or every other day I was expecting.

If that's a broth soup then it sound great! High in protein, nice and soft foods as well AND liquids to top it off!

    Those last 14 lbs....

Keep in mind that it takes a deficit of ~3500 cals (some say that deficit has to be 7000) to lose a pound. Someone here cut their cals by 100 a day and hasn't lost anything in a month. Your body might have been at a new set point and cutting only 100 a day with no additional exercise means it WILL take over a month to lose that pound - assuming you were at a new set point.

    1 Month Anniversary

I know, I'm very blessed. I hit my 20 something like a week post-op. I will readily admit that 7 of those pounds were put on between my final weigh in (320) and the day of surgery (327) over the course of about 5 days. I ate what I wanted and had a gluttony day with my friends because I had hit my necessary weight on my final weigh in and my weigh in the day of surgery didn't matter.

Supposedly he'd post a plate of nothing lol!
  22. Great! I find that premier protein RTD mixes WAY better in coffee than any powder I tried. Vanilla and carmel make great creamer!

    1 Month Anniversary

I was one month post-op on Friday and today I'm down 40 since surgery. Keep it up and you'll do fine! Also I disagree with AJ - weighing often, if not daily, has been found to help people trying to lose weight be more successful in losing and keeping it off. With as little as we eat there is direct correlation to small changes we make in our diet and our weight the next day. Eat more carbs one day or too much salt? You'll see it on the scale. And, other than taking measurements, weighing ourselves is the only way to track progress on the whole reason we had this surgery - for weight loss!! All that said, if it's making you crazy then by all means, weigh in once a week. Personally I want all the data I can get so I weigh every day, sometimes twice a day. And I'm down 40 in a month. 🤷‍♂️
  24. Honestly, fluid empties quickly. Less than 5 mins for sure.
  25. This is the correct answer. Anyone telling you to do planks or situps or the like is wrong. You can build muscle in the same places but you can't spot lose fat.
