    hello all,
I had an eventful day. I went back to work today—my first day back after two weeks out. Well all was fine until around lunch when I fainted at my desk. The manager wanted to call an ambulance and I was like oh heck naw!! I’m not going to a hospital while this virus is out there!
So I called my surgeon’s office and they told em to come in. I had to get my Mom to meet me halfway because I got dizzy while driving...so scary!!
They gave me fluids and Vitamins intravenous and sent me home for another week. Two weeks was def not long enough for my recovery. I know we’re all different, but so happy to have a surgeon who cares!

@Girlnextdoor00 I had the sleeve on March 3rd and yes I felt the internal pulling of my incisions! Oh it lasted Into the second week! My only advice is just because aware of your movements and take things slow. I hope it gets better soon.

@mello1 thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery! Sending you positive vibes!❤️

@KokoA That really sucks that your surgery was postponed especially after doing pre-op stuff!! I too had a postponement although mine was for insurance reasons but it was still put off for almost two more months. I finally had it March 3rd when my original surgery date was January 14th. I hope it rescheduled soon for you.

@asnirak I’m not sure how many days out you are but just hold on!!! Everyday your new insides will get a little bit better. I wish I had more words but I’m two weeks post-op today so I know the first few days suck! What about sugar free Jello and /or sugar free popsicles?? I lived on sf popsicles for the first 4-5 days post surgery.

Thanks for all of the well wishes. Had my surgery this morning and all is well and recovering. Been up and walking already. Moderate pain due to incisions and hernia repair, but I feel blessed. Thanks again and I’m sorry for all the other March cancellations. I got in under the wire let me tell you. Hospital now on lockdown.

I just told people that my surgery was for "stomach issues". I left it vague. When people asked about my post op weight loss... I told them, "well, surgery fixed some issues I was having and now the weight is coming off". I left it as simple as that. I still tell some people just that. But I have also now told many people the truth. Most are supportive and interested. The only kind of negative response I got was someone who is MUCH bigger than I was who asked how I was doing it... and I felt I should be honest with her... and her response was "well I am not ready to do THAT"... but then she and I moved on from the conversation and never discussed it again lol. Before surgery I only told my husband, daughter, and maybe 3 people I work with (one had the surgery herself). Now most of my office knows and have been great.

I didn't see an official thread so I started one! I finally got my date in March on St. Patrick's Day just before my birthday. I'm excited and anxious all at once. It could have been scheduled in late Jan/Feb but the bari center didn't get the Doctor's clearance that they were looking for and I had to wait until she got off of her winter break to get her to redo it, and then it took a couple of weeks for me to finally call them. They had called but either didn't leave a message or didn't leave the right number (because they are associated with the hospital) so it took a while, plus I'm too busy at work right now to take off anyway.
Now that it's all set up, I have to spend the next month or so preparing the house, starting with the kitchen. Everything that I can't eat anymore is gonna get tossed. Starting Tuesday, I will be going to the bari classes so that I can get my head totally into this. The waiting has been annoying, but it's all falling into place. Sometimes I can't believe I'm really doing this!

Talk to your dietitian. You may need to start eating a bit more calorie-wise to maintain rather than lose.

    Gallbladder surgery?
    Appendix removal?
    Colon stricture?
Or maybe just: "Its personal and medically necessary".

This has been widely discussed on this site, and you'll find that people have strong opinions for either keeping it a secret or telling all. I personally have kept my surgery private. Only my husband and children know. I don't feel obligated to tell anyone my personal medical history. I wouldn't expect someone to tell me they had a vasectomy. It's none of my business. I've changed my eating habits, so I tell them what my diet consists of but leave it at that. Too many people want to criticize another person for his/her life decisions, and I don't have time for that. I'm focusing on being positive and healthy and don't need the drama, especially at work.

@fluffychix I’m not sure. Haha. At least I’d be drugged the first few days. Today is “dip day” at work. So every Thursday everyone brings food to share. My co worked also walked past me eating a Breakfast burrito. Today will be my greatest challenge. Lol 😭😬🤐

So yesterday was my first initial consult with the surgeon, Dr. Amit Taggar with Florida Surgical Weight Loss Center. I'm currently 5'5, 256 with high cholesterol. I am so ready to have this surgery so that I can stop the medication train before it gets too outta hand. I was planning on a late January to early February surgery due to Aetna only required 3 months with a Nutritionist. Boy was I in for a surprise. My surgeon informed me that Aetna now requires 6 months supervised visits with the Nutritionist and that the plan changed this month. WTH?!!?!

Oh well.. I can see this is going to be the longest 6 months of my life. During this time, I will focus on losing weight and exchanging bad eating habits for good ones. Thanks for reading

i'm not exactly keeping it a secret, but I'm not announcing to the world either. Right now, just my husband knows and I'm fine with that. When I actually have the surgical date, I will call my sister-in-law to see if she will come help the first few days with my husband who is disabled. She's a nurse and would be highly offended if I didn't at least ask her to come right at the beginning. Other than that, everyone will notice when my weight starts to drop in buckets.
