  1. My advice is to eat slowly, and listen to your body. Soft foods feels way different than liquids going down. You will probably be full after 3 teaspoons of food. So take it slow, and stop as soon as you feel restriction. I remember those days of taking just one more bite, and regretting it. There were even a few times, where I had food in my mouth when restriction hit suddenly, and I would discreetly spit it out into a napkin b/c I knew if I swallowed it, I would be in tremendous pain. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
  2. Highly recommend Goodwill! You will be flying through sizes like crazy, so don't spend more than $10 on a pair of jeans that will only fit your for a month! 🙂
  3. Hang in there!! I lost 12lbs on mine, which was a nice jump start heading into surgery! First couple days are the worst, then your body gets used to it. GOOD LUCK!!!
  4. Harness those feelings, and use them to make better choices in the future! Think about the guilt/shame/embarrassment that you felt after that meal, maybe even journal about it. What can you do next time to make sure you don't feel bad about yourself next time you are presented with temptation? Now picture "next time." Your daughter asks you why you don't want pizza or dessert. Picture yourself telling her, that you want to get XYZ instead (salad, salmon, etc), and that you are too full for dessert. Think about how you will feel afterwards, proud of yourself for fueling your body properly, and proud to set such a great example of healthy eating for your daughter. You can do this!!! Best of luck for your surgery!
  5. I always made a joke of it, and would answer by saying "I stopped eating my feelings" or "I gave up food for lent" etc. I ended up moving shortly after hitting goal, so it's kind of fun that none of my new friends, coworkers, etc, know that I used to be morbidly obese. It's my little secret! LOL!!

Month 3: Only lost 6 lbs this month Why?

It happens to most of us! One month you lose more, the next you lose less. I tracked my monthly losses in my signature for fun, but it all evens out in the end! Just keep doing what you are doing, the weight will continue to come off! Good luck!!

    I’m so cold! 🥶

My surgery was over 3 years ago, and I'm still freezing!! LOL!! Better than being hot and sweaty though, which is how I used to be when I was heavy!

    Regrets?

ZERO regrets!!! Best thing I ever did (besides WLS). I look better now than I did in my 20s. It's an amazing feeling! I did TT and Breast Lift w/ implants. My WLS was 12/2019, and my plastic surgery was 1/2021. Thinking about going back for an arm lift next!
  9. Check out Ozempic or Mounjaro. Could give you the nice jumpstart on losing again, and reset that pouch. Just an idea!
  10. Are all of the bridesmaids wearing the exact same dress? Maybe since you are the MOH, your dress could be a little different, which might allow you to purchase something off the rack instead of having to order it months in advance? Not sure where you are on the process, or how much you currently weigh, but it wouldn't be unheard of for someone to go from a size 20 to a size 4, between now and November! Many on here have done similar in that same timeframe!

No energy 5 days post op sleev

As others have said, perfectly normal! I was still taking naps 2 months out from surgery. Very thankful that I have a sedentary job. I feel for those with the physical jobs, as I can only imagine the fatigue they must feel post-surgery! Enjoy the naps! I used to joke that I was melting the pounds away in my sleep!
  12. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!!

    Jealousy from others?

If someone is jealous of your success, it's 100% because of their own hang ups and insecurities. Don't let anyone rain on your parade, and know that you are doing this for you!! I've been at goal for a little over 2 years, and can say that being thin is my new normal. Everyone is just used to me looking like this, and nobody ever comments on my size, what I eat, etc. Someday it will be like that for you too!!! Keep up the great work!!

    Miss eating?

I love everything about eating out at nice restaurants; the social aspect, the food, the atmosphere, etc. I always order with the mindset that I'll be bringing at least half (if not 3/4) of my meal home with me, so I do try to order in a way that the meal with keep best (like if it's a salad, I'll get the dressing on the side). I love ahi tuna, so if there is an ahi tuna appetizer or poke bowl on the menu, I usually get that and eat as much of the tuna as a I can, and bring home the veggies/slaw/salad for later. I always have a fun selection of leftovers in the fridge! Right now I have shrimp tacos in there, that I plan on eating tonight!

    Roux En Y tomorrow

Good luck!!! I didn't have any pain after surgery, just lots of fatigue. I felt like I slept more than I was awake, so enjoy all of those naps!! Take tiny sips to get your liquids in, to stay hydrated. And again, enjoy the naps! LOL!!
  16. There is a Plastic Surgery forum on here, with lots of great posts. Check it out! As for me, I reached goal in October, and had PS in January! LOL! I just couldn't wait! I had a tummy tuck and breast lift. Love my results, and love my new body. There is more PS in my future, and I'm debating on whether to do a facelift or an armlift next. My thighs are a mess, but the before/afters I see of thigh lifts don't impress me too much, and I want more bang for my buck! So I will live with my saggy thighs for now!!
  17. Some people aren't very good at giving compliments! I try to learn from them, and instead tell people they look great, radiant, beautiful, etc, without mentioning their weight. Take it as a compliment, awkward as it may be! Keep up the great work!!
  18. Yum! My vegetarian son would go crazy for this!!
  19. LMAO!!! I'm a fed also, and my travel per diem is like a bonus check! LOL!! Only time I spend $$ is when I dine out with colleagues to be social, and even then, whatever I order ends up giving me leftovers for my next 3 meals. ha ha!
  20. Wow!! That it amazing! Congratulations!
  21. You are likely a good candidate for Ozempic, which is available in Canada. Google and if you think it's right for you, talk to your doctor about it.
  22. Yum!!! Reminds me of the bagels I used to get from the food truck when I was in college. Smothered in cream cheese, and I would eat the whole thing! LOL!! I miss that young metabolism!
  23. Like others have said, you will be good to go! I was just at 40 when I was approved, and the nurse told me that I was okay to lose weight b/c insurance goes by your starting weight, and that's the only weight that's submitted. I was under 40 by the time I had surgery (although I didn't lose as much as you have...congratulations!!!)

    Questions about MMJ use.

It sounds like MMJ is the better alternative to benzos. I would talk to your psych about making the switch, and let them know about your WLS concerns as well. Maybe get a plan in place for how long it's safe to be on the benzos and then wean off? If your nurse isn't on board, maybe you can talk directly to your surgeon about it?

    Questions about MMJ use.

What is the reason you take it, and how have you felt since you've been off it for a few months? If you are doing well without it, I would be hesitant to add it back in (and not b/c it's MMJ, I would say this with any rx,, OTC, even caffeine, soda, etc). So it all depends on why you think you need it, and what symptoms it helps with, and if those symptoms have been under control without it.
